Progressive States Network: Distorting the Electoral Process?

In my first post on the Progressive States Network, I went over their Board of Directors, and showed that they are a far-left, if not quasi-Marxist organization. In coordination with John, owner of The Current, who wrote about the National Popular Vote, I’m going to address some of the PSN’s election initiatives.

First up, is Vote by Mail. Here are some details from their own website:

Vote by Mail: Vote by Mail is now an option in five states (California, Colorado, Montana, Hawaii, and New Jersey) and has been increasingly popular with voters. California and Colorado have seen the greatest usage with almost a third of California voters voting by mail in November 2008, and an astounding 71% of Colorado voters doing so. Key arguments in favor include:

Vote by Mail Helps Increase Turnout: For many voters going to the polling place on election day is difficult, either for work or family reasons. Vote by Mail is the obvious, low-cost solution for giving such voters the flexibility they need to participate in our elections. Allowing voters the option to vote by mail for every election gives them a flexible path to the ballot box, without which they might not participate.

Vote by Mail Gives Voters a Choice: In the 21st century, we have the ability to give all voters a choice in how they cast their ballots. There are many voters who can make it to the polls, but who prefer to vote by mail either for convenience or because they like having time to fill out their ballots in the comfort of their home. However, under current practice in some states the mail ballot option requires voters to have one of a few narrow reasons (an “excuse”) for not voting at the polls; and in all but five states, voters must reapply for a mail ballot every election.

Vote by Mail Reduces Election Day Chaos and Costs: Vote by mail also helps make sure that no one is prevented from voting on election day by long lines. Colorado residents reaped this benefit in the last presidential election with a smooth election that contrasted sharply with the previous election without vote by mail. In that election some Denver voters waited in lines that lasted half a day or more.

They put a very nice wrapper around this idea. It does sound very nice, doesn’t it? However, as I have looked at the PSN, it became obvious that one has to look at what they DON’T say. In this scenario, they discuss nothing of preventing fraud, or how the integrity of the vote will be maintained.

For example, we know that the organizations formerly know as ACORN, and similar groups, sign up thousands of fake voters with every registration drive. This is still happening, as it recently was recently exposed in Houston. If there are fake registrations, might there be fake mail in ballots with return addresses being vacant lots, or places that are not residences? Now, a supporter of this will probably say that these can be checked. However, this is the same Cloward-Piven that was ACORN’s voter registration fraud. The idea is to overwhelm the system with false registrations, making it impossible to verify them all. With untold thousands of ballots being cast by mail, there could be no possibly way to verify all of them. I think that the results are predictable. In my opinion, this is a means to facilitate fraud.

The PSN also supports the National Popular Vote:

National Popular Vote: NPV garners the support of greater than two-thirds of voters in the 30+ states where it has been polled. The bill has now passed in five states (Maryland, New Jersey, Hawaii, Illinois and, most recently, Washington) with a total of 61 electoral votes, almost a quarter of the total needed for NPV to go into effect. Voters typically support NPV at about 75%, including healthy majorities of Republican voters. Polls in individual states show consistent support as well, with voters supporting it in a range from 68% to 81%. The following messages help address some of the myths and misunderstandings about the consequences of NPV:

The Winner Should Win: Emphasize the primary reasons why NPV has such broad support – because every vote should count equally, and the candidate with the most votes should win the election. These are the principles that we respect for our local, state and congressional elections and they should hold for the Presidential election as well.

Making Every State a Battleground State Will Increase Turnout: Average turnout in the 15 most competitive Presidential states was 6% higher than in the rest of the states for the 2008 general election, so NPV will help expand turnout.

NPV is a Civil Rights Issue: Civil rights has drifted out of the national dialogue as the battlegrounds have shifted away from states with high percentages of minority voters. For example, just 21% of African Americans and 18% of Latinos live in the twelve closest battleground states from 2004. NPV assures that all groups and their issues get equal attention. This is why the NAACP and African-American and Latino legislator organizations support NPV.

NPV Helps Small and Rural States: Despite myths otherwise, by leveling the playing field, NPV forces candidates to concentrate on all constituencies, states and populations, rather than disproportionately spending time in a few larger winner-take-all mega-states. In addition, because 12 of the 13 small states are spectators, they actually constitute the most ignored groups of states.

NPV Avoids Disputed Close Presidential Elections: Because a very close result is more likely among a smaller group of voters, the possibility of a Florida 2000 style electoral meltdown is much less likely under NPV. Put another way, because the margin of victory nationwide is much larger than it is in individual states, NPV elections are less susceptible to problems than essentially 50 state races.

This issue has been much discussed over the last couple months. So I will not cover the objections to this. Steve, at America’s Watchtower, Kristen, at Kristen’s Mishmash, and John from the Current, have all expertly covered this topic. My analysis will take a different direction.

Again, my take deals with what the PSN does not say. The NPV moves us, as a nation, closer to a Democracy. While I know that many would think that is a wonderful development, it is clearly not. The PSN fails (deliberately) to recognize that the United States is a Constitutional Republic. While there are components of Democracy to our system of government, there are built in protections against mob rule. There are checks and balances built into all of our systems. For background, consider this from Thomas Jefferson:

“A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine.”

There is truth to this statement. If we went purely by popular vote, there might be still slave states. We might have never had civil rights legislation of any kind. Popular rule is mob rule.

For even more, let’s take a look at this from Alexander Tyler.

“A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.” (Emphasis added)

Let’s take a look at this idea a bit more closely. Do we not have 50% of the population that pays no federal income tax? Does a segment of that 50% receive the Earned Income Tax Credit…for income that was NOT earned? How many of that 50% owe their housing, medical care, food, and other essentials to the government? Out of that segment, how many will vote against their own benefits? Or, will they vote for the “progressive” that promises them even more?

Then, take a look at the move to make more and more people dependent on government benefits? Using unemployment expansion, ObamaCare, and other programs, the current administration seeks to make more and more of the population dependent on the government for their basic needs. This has the effect of turning more and more Americans into dependent classes, and therefore, permanent “progressive” voters.

If you want proof, how many times have the Democrats said one, if not all, of the following at election time?

The Republicans are going to take your Social Security!

The Republicans are going to take your Medicare!

The Republicans are going to take your Schools!

The Republicans are going to starve the children!

The Republicans are going to freeze the elderly!

The Republicans are going to make granny eat Alpo to afford her medication!

The Republicans want the poor to die.

It’s a work right now. And by bringing us closer to a Democracy, they know they can enslave enough of the population to achieve insurmountable levels of power.

Again, it’s all about what they haven’t said.

Another initiative that the PSN supports is National Voter Compliance Act:

<ins><ins></ins></ins>

National Voter Registration Act Compliance: NVRA compliance has been re-implemented by public assistance agencies in five states (North Carolina, Michigan, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Missouri). The messages to expand these successes include:

NVRA Compliance Increases Registration: The reward has been substantial, and in some cases dramatic, increases in voter registrations obtained. Missouri has obtained the most impressive turn-around, with a 2600% increase in registrations collected from public assistance agencies after reforms were implemented.

NVRA Compliance Assures Equal Opportunities to Register: The National Voter Registration Act was enacted with the understanding that opportunities to register to vote must be equally available to all. But racial and socio-economic gaps in the electorate will persist so long as public assistance agencies fail to offer voter registration to their low-income clients. Such individuals, who are less likely to own a motor vehicle, must have a chance to register to vote at public assistance offices as others do at departments of motor vehicles.

NVRA Compliance Addresses Racial and Economic Disparities in Registration: Recent U.S. Census data confirms the racial, ethnic and class bias of the electorate: 73.5 percent of non-Hispanic whites were registered to vote in 2008, as compared to 69.7 percent of blacks, 59.4 percent of Latinos, and 55.9 percent of Asian Americans. Only 65 percent of adult citizens in households making less than $25,000 a year were registered to vote in 2008, as compared to 85 percent of those in households making $100,000. Effective voter registration programs at public assistance agencies are powerful tools for reducing these disparities and bringing more voices into the democratic process.

Again, the presentation is quite nicely worded, but the key is in what they DO NOT say. As I discussed in my recent post on voter fraud, AG Holder has decided to not enforce the part of Motor Voter that dictates that voter rolls be purged of dead or ineligible voters. The PSN does not mention this either. Then again, even if they did, Holder’s inaction might well be replicated at the state level as well. In my opinion, again, this could be a means to facilitate fraud, as there is no apparent means to provide oversight to the voter registration and verification process.

Also missing is the checks for actual citizenship in the PSN’s description. In many states, illegal aliens are receiving welfare benefits. If they are signing up for benefits, are they also being registered to vote? Again, with the systems for monitoring voter registration in most areas being deficient at best, who is to say that there aren’t illegal immigrants voting? Again, the PSN doesn’t seem to care for the integrity of the election, they simply want to register as many people as possible.

They should want to do that, as I have repeatedly mentioned, the breakdown for political demographics is as follows:

Liberal-20%

Moderate-40%

Conservative-40%

The “progressives” cannot count on the Moderates, they switch from time to time, and they’re currently trending to the right. With these numbers, it is impossible for them to maintain any kind of majority over time. As we’ve seen with the current administration and Congress, once their agenda becomes clear, and the results of their actions come to pass, the electorate recognizes the stench, and votes accordingly. By (potentially) creating fake voters out of thin air, they might be able to make some gains to avoid a rout, or create a victory.

Now, let’s add one other fly into this ointment. In the post on voter fraud, I mentioned the Soros funded Secretary of State project. No, I’m not talking about Hillary Clinton’s current job. The Secretary of State, at the state level, is charged with certifying elections. Soros, and his minions, are intent on making sure that as many of them as possible are “progressives.”

Considering that several people on the PSN Board come from other Soros-funded organizations, might they be coordinating? Let’s consider that for a moment…

Imagine this hypothetical situation based on what I’ve discussed. In my scenario, there are tens of thousands of fake voters, illegal immigrants, and otherwise ineligible voters mailing in ballots. There is no way to check them all, as the system is overwhelmed (Cloward-Piven). Also, there has been no effort to remove fake, dead, or ineligible voters from the rolls. Massive fraud changes the result of the vote. Then, the “progressive” Secretary of State will certify that election no matter what is exposed, and the “progressive” candidate wins.

As for this topic, the PSN seems to be able to create a very pretty picture of their intent. However, if you look at what they aren’t saying, and what is, or could be done, a different picture emerges. At every stage of the process, we MUST realize that “progressives,” like any other totalitarian form; will always misrepresent themselves to achieve their long term control agendas. The ends justify the means, and they are very free and loose with the means. Just as reminder; remember how ObamaCare was going to reduce costs? Remember how the porkulus was going to create all these jobs, and keep unemployment below 8%? Remember how there were no taxes in ObamaCare? Remember how ObamaCare wasn’t going to fund abortions? I could write a book on all of the lies, all told to advance an agenda that they knew we wouldn’t like.

In other words, if a “progressive” tells you that “fish live in the sea,” you might want to check, just to make sure.

The Progressive States Network: Undermining Liberty one State at a Time

We know that the Tea Parties are trying to accomplish change at the state level. We know that blogs, such as this one, are attempting to inform and educate. We know that there are many Conservative organizations that are attempting to save this Republic in innumerable ways. People are energized and active as never before. Better yet, more and more people are reading the founding documents, and are studying the ideas that are represented in our Republic. I think we’d all agree that these are excellent developments.

However, there is a dark side. There is a well-organized “progressive” organization that is currently in operation. The Progressive States Network coordinates efforts across states to pass “progressive” legislation. As with all “progressive” legislation, these tend to limit freedom, cost jobs, corrupt elections, and increase the power of government. They appear to be well funded, and they have a significant head start.

Some of the issues being undertaken by the PSN include:

Paid Sick Days – Require employers to provide paid sick days to employees for them to take care of their own illness, that of a family member, or deal with domestic violence.

That brought a deluge of email from members of the UAW who emphatically stated I was a selfish b*tch, that I knew nothing about unions and without a union, workers in the auto industry would be exploited. My column was about the flat out illegal bail out of the auto makers and how free trade has killed our most important job sectors. Yet, the victims of “free” trade continue to vote the same incumbents back into office who destroyed millions of jobs and who now refuse to get H.R. 4759 passed. Get the U.S. out of NAFTA and bring home millions of jobs. I wrote about this critical bill back on March 20, 2010. There are still only 30 sponsors; two Republicans. Neither the Republicans or the Democrats in the Outlaw Congress care about the American worker. Their votes have killed our economy; the so-called financial reform bill was nothing but more smoke and mirrors.

The Democrats have had control of Congress since January 2007. They have done nothing to bring home millions of jobs by getting the U.S. out of NAFTA, CAFTA, GATT, the WTO, stop the withholding taxing scheme, demand enforcement of our immigration laws and deporting as many illegal aliens as possible. Instead, Democrats in Congress champion illegals who have stolen MILLIONS of jobs that belong to Americans of both parties. Now, unions are going to spend a massive amount of money to return the same incumbents back to Congress to continue destroying this republic:

May 21, 2010. Unions to spend $100 million to save Dem majorities

Below is the mindset of the dummies coming out of the government indoctrination centers (public schools) that have inculcated the deadly communitarian doctrine (communist morality) into their heads that has led tens of millions of Americans to believe that federal government should be their caretaker throughout life. If you don’t understand collectivism v individualism, it is terribly important you take the time to learn. You can listen from a master of knowledge on the issue, G. Edward Griffin. Interview from my radio show; click here for June 9, 2010 show.

“Individual wealth is evil. Collective wealth is the only virtue, social justice is the destination and Barack is the shepherd leading us down that path. We must remove the barriers to equality created by capitalism and embrace the righteousness of socialism.” (Source, see comments section at bottom of article).

Slick career politicians like John Boehner [R-OH] can continue belching about jobs, but his votes killed millions of jobs. He is not a sponsor of H.R. 4759 to get US out of NAFTA. Boehner, like most Republicans and Democrats use political currency to bash the other party while Americans sink further into despair and poverty. If Democrats think it’s all the fault of Bush and Republicans, they are fools. The same goes for Republicans who blame everything on Democrats. Both parties have brought this nation to financial ruin. There are hundreds of thousands of hard working Americans from both parties working feverishly to get the same buzzards reelected in November who have loaded the gun and pulled the trigger on our economy and our children and grand children’s future. It is pure insanity.

Last year, a very knowledgeable man named Fred Starkey wrote two columns that really shook people up:

June 3, 2009. PERS: The Greatest Swindle in American History

June 19, 2009. Financial Rape: PERS of Oregon

After I read them, I brought Fred onto my radio show because pension short falls were just starting to get the long over due attention necessary to inform the American people of the dire condition of those funds. Millions of Americans depend on their retirement funds and like so many other columns I write, this one is going to give you the raw truth. Knowing the facts can help you make important decisions for you and your family. Hopefully, it will also encourage voters in November to throw out incumbents in your state legislature who have created another financial disaster that is going to badly hurt millions of Americans in the states of the Union. There are many good state legislators, but the incompetent fools from both parties out number those legislators who do know the solutions, but can’t get bills passed.

Congress has NO authority to steal the fruits of your labor, my sister’s, your brother or mother to bail out state pension funds because your state representative and senator have entered into long term binding agreements with unions that were never realistic — especially in the event the economy takes a down turn. If only “down turn” were the bottom line, but tragically, the American people haven’t seen anything yet. Do not send me hate mail for being the messenger. Read the facts, understand the issue and then decide how all this is/will affect you and your family. You can decide whether all these unions are good for your state. If you are a member of a union, whether UAW, SEIU or at the state level, perhaps there’s something here for you to think about, too.

Too many Americans are paying little or zero attention to what’s happened in Greece, Italy, Spain and other socialist countries. Many don’t realize Greece has unions and now that decades of bloated government spending (like the U.S.) and massive “entitlements” have driven Greece into financial ruin, there’s no more money to pay the bills, just like here in American both at the federal and state levels. The rioting has been going on for months over there and if you think it’s not possible here, think again.

Who pays the taxes for these union workers?

June 23, 2010. New York. “Man Earns $300,000 Public Pension. One of the critical problems facing the state and local governments are pension funds that are way under funded. Fox 5 News first reported on James Hunderfund in May. The retired superintendent of the Commack School System on Long Island earns a pension of about $316,000 a year. On top of that, Hunderfund is now the superintendent of the Malverne School District. Fox 5 obtained his contract, which shows he makes about $225,000 annually plus he gets 18 paid sick days and 23 paid vacation days a year. His wife is the superintendent of the Locust Valley Central School District on Long Island. Her contract shows she makes $250,000 a year. When she retires she’ll get a pension. All of this is perfectly legal and paid for by taxpayers.

“Fred Gorman, the founder of a watchdog group called Long Islanders for Educational Reform, says the state employee pension system is bleeding taxpayers dry and that the state Legislature needs to step up and change the system. The web site seethroughny.net lists some state pension earners. It shows a retiree from the New York Public Library earning a pension of more than $188,000 year.”

June 27, 2010. State pensions are inflated as workers boost salaries. (This is NY) “Carmen A. Granto Jr. cashed in 45 unused vacation days and 747 accumulated sick days, boosting his salary over $200,000 in his two years before retiring…. Granto is getting a $147,109 annual state pension in retirement. He was making $129,000 a year when he retired in 2009. How did he do it? The same way others before him did it.”

Underfunding of union pension funds isn’t just a problem for those who receive that check every month. It will drastically continue to affect our economy for a long time to come – especially local economies. How? By more rape at the federal level in taxes to illegally bail out any pension funds. While the habitual liar, Obama/Soetoro says there will be no more bail outs, it is the Outlaw Congress who can push through another grotesque and illegal plunder of the people’s treasury. If the Democrats believe they will lose control of the House in November, there is a good chance they will “lame duck” this type of illegal legislation on the way out:

May 24, 2010. The Next Bailout: $165B for Unions. “A Democratic senator is introducing legislation for a bailout of troubled union pension funds. If passed, the bill could put another $165 billion in liabilities on the shoulders of American taxpayers. The bill, which would put the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation behind struggling pensions for union workers, is being introduced by Senator Bob Casey, (D-Pa.), who says it will save jobs and help people. As FOX Business Network’s Gerri Willis reported Monday, these pensions are in bad shape; as of 2006, well before the market dropped and recession began, only 6% of these funds were doing well. Although right now taxpayers could possibly be on the hook for $165 billion, the liability could essentially be unlimited because these pensions have to be paid out until the workers die.”

We are talking massive numbers:

April 5, 2010. California Pensions Are $500 Billion Short, Stanford Study Says

June 19, 2010. In Budget Crisis, States Take Aim at Pension Costs. “Many states are acknowledging this year that they have promised pensions they cannot afford and are cutting once-sacrosanct benefits, to appease taxpayers and attack budget deficits.”

As unemployment rises (it will get worse) and pensioners get less than their full check, states will continue to be unable to generate enough taxes to fund even basic services, much less these monstrous pension funds.

Are all state employees union?

Law and the Workplace On the Job
Unions in the Workplace

“If a union wins the election, must the workers join the union? No. Just as the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) gives employees the right to join unions, it also gives employees the right to refuse to join a union. The NLRA prohibits both employers and unions from forcing employees to join a union.

“However, employees can be forced to pay for the work that the union performs on their behalf, even if they do not want to join the union. Most collective bargaining agreements contain a union security clause. In effect, this clause requires workers to pay the dues and fees that union members are required to pay. If a worker refuses to pay dues, he or she can be fired.

“Because the law requires the union to represent all the workers in the bargaining unit, regardless of whether they are members of the union, the law allows the union to “tax” the workers for the benefits they receive from union representation. Some states prohibit union security clauses.”

Let me ask this question: Is belonging to a union good for your future? Do they are care about you – state unions or private ones like the AFL-CIO, Teamsters?

Let’s take one of the most corrupt, the SEIU. The Service Employees International Union spent $60 MILLION dollars to get a stinking communist, who is legally ineligible to run for president “elected” — that would be Obama/Soetoro who was born with dual citizenship. In 2007, Congressman Ron Paul introduced the Tax Free Tip Act would would make tips for service workers exempt from federal or employment taxes. You would think the SEIU and Obama/Soetoro would have jumped on that bill: No more federal taxes on tips for waiters, waitresses and so forth. Oh, no, the SEIU did nothing to let their members know anything about it. So, don’t tell me the SEIU cares about their workers. That union supported a Marxist who is hell bent on stealing every last penny from every American except those he’s in bed with politically and financially. To be fair, the “caring” Republicans also ignored the bill.

How about the hundred million or so working folks who don’t belong to a union and are dying under the weight of federal and state taxes? Do unions serve taxpayers?

“Albany Police Officers Union President Chris Mesley recently chimed in regarding his position and the American taxpayer: “I’m not running a popularity contest here,” Mesley said. “If I’m the bad guy to the average citizen . . . and their taxes have go up to cover my raise, I’m very sorry about that, but I have to look out for myself and my membership.“

People want police protection, but should they be required to pay for it 10, 20, 30 years after a police officer has left public service? Does a policeman pay your retirement from J.C. Penny’s after 25 years on the job for another 20 years? Shouldn’t it be the responsibility of the individual to plan for their retirement and set up their own private retirement fund or should the public be forced to contribute just because the individual worked in “public service” whether it be police, state hospital worker or janitor at the state capitol?

April 28, 2010. Public Employee Unions Work Against The Public

“Many public sector union members get health benefits when they retire for free or nearly free for the rest of their lives. A friend’s mother retired from a Northeast state DMV. She was a clerk. She has medical coverage for life with $2 co-pays! Her pension was just raised $4,000 a year. What clerk gets that in the private sector? It is also not uncommon for public pensions to be high 5 or low 6 figure amounts. Why should taxpayers pay for lavish health care plans and pensions that most do not get themselves?

“Public unions across the country do not want to curb their pay, medical benefits or pensions, even though there is great pain and expense to the taxpayer and the economy. Public unions are not the entire reason states are in financial trouble, but cutting those benefits are certainly part of the solution. The good of the union cannot supercede the good of the public which pays them. Look for more protests and backlash from unions as they are asked to take cuts. Look for more outrage and push back from the public as they are asked to pay for the lush benefits. I predict public unions will either take some big cuts voluntarily or be forced to do so through bankruptcy. This money fight will not play well with hard working voters in the private sector this fall. Remember, the private sector is the only place where real wealth and prosperity is created. The public sector does not generate revenue, it only confiscates taxpayer money. Taxpayers need union employees to work for them–not against them.”

Make no mistake about it: Unions hold lawmakers hostage after they buy their favors with campaign donations. They are powerful, but now, well, the rooster is coming home to croak.

Of course, one must pay attention to the ‘International’ in SEIU. That union is just another communist front operation promising workers utopia, social justice and all the other communist claptrap while mother government drowns them in more and more taxes. If you think I’m just blowing smoke, you haven’t studied communism as I have for more than a decade. But, don’t listen to me, listen to William Z. Foster who wrote, Toward Soviet America. Foster was a useful fool, a Marxist labor organizer. He served as Secretary General of the Communist party USA (very active here in the USA) and promoted the destruction of free markets and capitalism – the very systems that made America the greatest debt free nation every on this earth. You can read Toward Soviet America on line here. Learn how important unions are to the communists towards Sovietizing this republic.

In no way am I saying that every American who belongs to any union is a communist or has communist sympathies. What I am saying is that the goal of world communism is to replace our free enterprise system by drumming into people’s heads – especially union members – that capitalism is evil. Tear down the classes! Raise up the toiling masses to their place of social and economic justice! Unionize workers so the working class can rise up for justice! Very dangerous propaganda and Foster gives it to you in plain language:

“The final aim of the Communist International is to overthrow world capitalism and replace it by world Communism, “the basis for which has been laid by the whole course of historical development.” On this the Program of the Communist International says :

“Communist society will abolish the class division of society, i.e., simultaneously with the anarchy in production, it will abolish all forces of exploitation and oppression of man by man. Society will no longer consist of antagonistic classes in conflict with each other, but will represent a united commonwealth of labor. For the first time in its history mankind will take its fate into its own hands….

“The future Communist society will be Stateless. With private property in industry and land abolished (but, of course, not in articles of personal use), with exploitation of the toilers ended, and with the capitalist class finally defeated and all classes liquidated, there will then be no further need for the State, which in its essence, is an organ of class repression…..

“The road to this social development can only be opened by revolution. This is because the question of power is involved. The capitalist class, like an insatiable blood-sucker, hangs to the body of the toiling masses and can be dislodged only by force. But when the workers have conquered power, how- ever, then the way is clear for an orderly development of society by a process of evolution. Naturally, even after capitalism has been overthrown and the power taken by the workers, society cannot simply leap to a complete Communist system. There are stages of development to be gone through. The first of these is the transition period from the overthrow of capitalism to the establishment of Socialism.”

An exceptional read on this is by Dr. Fred Schwarz: You Can Trust the Communists to be Communists. Dr. Schwarz goes into Techniques for Seizing Power, Revolt Through Labor Union Control, pgs 72-83. This short work (182 pgs) is free on line; click here.

It’s staring you right in the face America. Obama/Soetoro’s “czars” are a collection of dedicated socialists to hard core Marxists.

Whether union or not, I highly encourage you to read this superb piece: Forgotten Facts of American Labor History By Tom Woods (May 5, 2010):

“The ways in which labor unionism impoverishes society are legion, from the distortions in the labor market described above to union work rules that discourage efficiency and innovation. The damage that unions have inflicted on the economy in recent American history is actually far greater than anyone might guess. In a study published jointly in late 2002 by the National Legal and Policy Center and the John M. Olin Institute for Employment Practice and Policy, economists Richard Vedder and Lowell Gallaway of Ohio University calculated that labor unions have cost the American economy a whopping $50 trillion over the past 50 years alone.

“That is not a misprint. “The deadweight economic losses are not one-shot impacts on the economy,” the study explains. “What our simulations reveal is the powerful effect of the compounding over more than half a century of what appears at first to be small annual effects.” Not surprisingly, the study did find that unionized labor earned wages 15 percent higher than those of their nonunion counterparts, but it also found that wages in general suffered dramatically as a result of an economy that is 30 to 40 percent smaller than it would have been in the absence of labor unionism.

“Although labor unionism has actually made working people worse off, however, the usual argument for labor unionism and government legislation on behalf of labor is that in the absence of these things, employers will pay their workers unconscionably low wages.”

A monstrous storm is building within the states because there is no money to meet all these obligations for public union pension obligations. Many pensions have taken a massive hit from the BP disaster in the Gulf:

How BP Screwed Over 42 State Retirement Funds, Including Alabama And Florida

“The California Public Employees’ Retirement System lost $284.6 million in value as the largest oil spill in U.S. history erased more than $1.4 billion from BP PLC shares held by 42 state retirement accounts, data compiled by Bloomberg show. The declines come as public pension funds are struggling to recover from investment losses that averaged 21 percent last year, according to Wilshire Associates of Los Angeles.”

In the meantime, the states of the Union are putting everything in jeopardy because to date, not one of them have passed a sound money bill. Why is this so important? Back in January, I sent a letter to 1100 state reps and senators about a sound money bill. It is self explanatory; the actual letter is at the bottom of the column. However, it is imperative that every citizen of every state, union or non union, understand that almost 3/4ths of the states in this Union are headed towards either total financial collapse or severe financial ship wrecks that will cause a huge harm to her citizens.

Those who depend on monthly checks from union pensions had better take the time to understand the information below because the states simply cannot meet those obligations and it will get worse for some time to come. In my humble opinion, some of what the states are doing with your retirement is dangerous for many reasons. The prime reason is the decline of the dollar, ignorance of our monetary system, what will happen when the FED can no longer print trillions in confetti and the commie Chinese refuse to bail out America’s foolishness.

Here are but a few examples:

June 1, 2007. Banks Sell ‘Toxic Waste’ CDOs to Calpers, Texas Teachers Fund

Let me give you a few words from Dr. Edwin Vieira’s testimony in March 2009 for the financial committee, Montana State Legislature; the bill did not make it out of committee. A tragedy:

“The provision of an alternative currency will promote social justice. It will begin to rectify the wrongs perpetrated against wage earners whose standards of living cannot keep up with the systematic inflation built into the Federal Reserve System; against the elderly and infirm who live on fixed incomes that steadily erode in purchasing power; against those anxiously approaching retirement while watching the real values of their pension funds evaporate; against the poor whose only wealth is the small amount of currency they acquire from week to week; and against all the recipients of essential public services that the State finds it difficult or even impossible to provide to the requisite degree because the real values of tax revenues cannot keep pace with costs. And,

“The provision of an alternative currency will fulfill the State’s legal, moral, and political responsibility to protect the safety, health, and general welfare of her people against an economic calamity that no one doubts confronts this country at the present time…..

“But with this opportunity comes a extremely heavy responsibility as well. This matter is too important to be left to a single legislative committee’s determination. More than any other issue in recent memory, the need to provide Montana with a economically sound and constitutional alternative currency vitally affects every resident of this State, and perhaps every resident of the United States as a whole—not simply immediately, but for many years to come. A mistake made here and now may prove incapable of correction later on.”

I set up a special page to make this issue easy to understand. It contains Dr. Vieira’s full speech as well as others. It has model statutes written by Edwin for both state governments and Congress. This isn’t about Republicans v Democrats, right v left. This is an American issue that affects tens of millions of folks who depend on public pension annuities. The monetary issue affects every man, woman and child in this country. All states go back into session in January. Boots on the ground: Every adult in every state must stay after your state rep and senator to get a sound money bill passed – something that should have been done five years ago or more. We are talking about the lifeblood of our nation and the ability for the states to survive. Here is the special web site.

What We Are Up Against

by Larry Miller

It’s easy to get caught up in the fight to keep our country free and forget our real purpose on earth. It was outlined when Jesus told his disciples, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

We see the shenanigans of the Obama administration and the machinations of SEIU, ACORN, NEA and the whole alphabet soup of other leftist groups looking to pick our pockets and run our lives. But we have to keep in mind who the real enemy is while we follow James Madison’s advice that “Resistance to tyranny is service to God.”

We may not have much of a chance of changing the leaders, but the voters that picked these leaders will only change when they have a change of heart. We see tea parties increasing in influence, but how much better would it be if the values of the founders were internalized once again by the American people? And how much better for them as well if many could be shown the error of the “social gospel” or “liberation theology” ways?

As angry as we can get with Barack Hussein Obama, Andy Stern, John Holdren, Rahm Emanuel and the whole gang leading this country astray, we need to remember the words of Ephesians 6:12 that tells us “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (NIV)

Seeing these people as victims themselves is not falling into the same trap that they are setting for the country by declaring everyone to be some sort of victim in need of governmental assistance. It also does not mean that we give them a pass for their nefarious deeds, but it does somehow mellow the personal aspect of our struggle.

Now being viewed this way will send many of the secular statists of both parties bouncing off the wall, causing them to increase their hostility, yet I believe it is the way we must go. That doesn’t mean we roll over when confronted by their plans to deify leaders and the state. Our task is to put everything we have into the fight, but to keep in mind that the real enemy is spiritual and that is how we need to fight the fight.

We need to fight this battle on our knees, in the state houses, in Washington and anywhere else we have to smack down these intrusions on the liberty of the American people. If we recognize this, we can count on the promise that the battle is not ours, but the Lords. Not only the battle, but the ultimate victory.

The Catholic Church: Bought by Soros?

While trying to catch up on some blog reading and commenting this morning, I ran across a post over at teresamerica urging people to not donate to the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) due to their willingness to donate to ACORN. I agree wholeheartedly.

Wanting a little more info, I came across an article written by Cliff Kincaid of Accuracy in Media. Donating to ACORN is just the tip of the iceberg.

According to the article, George Soros, an avowed atheist, has been channeling money to certain Catholic groups via his Open Society Institute. The groups receiving funds from Soros have been groups of progressive Catholics who have been on the forefront in the Obamacare debate and the debate on amnesty for illegal aliens.

Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good (CACG) has received at least $200,000 from the Open Society Institute. This group backs Pope Benedict XVI’s mission of using religion to further a socialist agenda.

From their website comes this list of things that is in the latest encyclical by the Pope. Hold on to your lunch, folks.

“Another important consideration is the common good. To love someone is to desire that person’s good and to take effective steps to secure it. Besides the good of the individual, there is a good that is linked to living in society: the common good.”

“If we love others with charity, then first of all we are just towards them. Not only is justice not extraneous to charity, not only is it not an alternative or parallel path to charity: justice is inseparable from charity, and intrinsic to it.”

“The dignity of the individual and the demands of justice require, particularly today, that economic choices do not cause disparities in wealth to increase in an excessive and morally unacceptable manner, and that we continue to prioritize the goal of access to steady employment for everyone.”

“Economic activity cannot solve all social problems through the simple application of commercial logic. This needs to be directed towards the pursuit of the common good, for which the political community in particular must also take responsibility.”

Now we have an insight into exactly what the Pope thinks of socialism. He’s in favor of it. And since this group supports the mission of the Pope, George Soros and his Open Society Institute will continue to fund them. It’s disgusting to see a religion sell out to anyone let alone liberals.

Also receiving money from OSI is the Catholic Legal Immigration Network (CLINIC), a group who has been on the front lines of having Obamacare cover illegal immigrants. The group was established by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops in 1988 and has received at least $530,000 from the Soros-backed OSI.

While celebrating the passage in the House of Pelosicare, CACG had this to say about the whole debacle.

“As Catholics, we applaud the efforts of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Rep. Bart Stupak, and others who helped extend current restrictions on federal funding of abortion to health plans participating in the public [health] exchanges.”

Not so fast, pal. According to Judie Brown of the American Life League, some of the provisions still in Pelosicare allow for federal funding of abortion and other life issues, something the Catholic Church is supposed to be dead-set against. Please read Mr. Kincaid’s article to see for yourself.

The CACG advisory council reads like a who’s who of leftist groups. Some of the groups that are represented on the advisory council: SEIU, AFL-CIO, Georgetown University, and Boston College. No wonder the Catholic Church has been throwing their support behind card check.

The SEIU representative on the advisory council of CACG is a man by the name of Tom Chabolla, assistant to SEIU president Andy Stern. Prior to this gig, Chabolla served as associate director of programs for CCHD, directing money to ACORN to the tune of $7.3 million over the past 10 years.

The Gamaliel Foundation, an interfaith group with a socialist agenda, still continues to receive money from CCHD. They’ve been pushing hard for continued financial support through CCHD and is citing that it is “under attack from those with a partisan agenda to de-fund groups committed to organizing for social justice.” It says: “Many Gamaliel Foundation affiliates rely on funding from CCHD to serve their communities.” Yeah. ACORN’s done a great job of that, eh?

Gamaliel says on its website that “Barack H. Obama, former Gamaliel organizer, is the 44th president of the United States,” and that this makes the organizing community proud. It also has a story about Obama friend and White House adviser Valerie Jarrett speaking to a Gamaliel event in Washington, D.C. of 2,500 activists. Jarrett is the official who said that “we” had recruited communist Van Jones to the White House. Another speaker was Melody Barnes, Obama’s Director of the Domestic Policy Council.

Before coming to the White House, Barnes was the executive vice president for Policy at the Soros-funded Center for American Progress (CAP). Van Jones also worked at CAP before going to the White House. CAP CEO and President John Podesta, who served as President Clinton’s chief of staff, is a major “progressive Catholic” and member of the ACORN advisory council, and served as a professor at Georgetown University.

Interestingly, Tom Chabolla of the SEIU and formerly of the CCHD was on the dinner committee for the 33rd Annual Hubert H. Humphrey Civil Rights Award Dinner, which was held on May 7, 2009 in Washington, D.C. One of the winners was none other than Van Jones.

While appealing for more funds through CCHD, the Gamaliel Foundation received $300,000 from OSI in 2008.

Let them continue to go to Soros for their funding as they seem to be of like minds. They’ll see not another dime from me.

Moveon.org has reportedly raised $3,578,117 in contributions to fund primary challenges against ‘any Democratic senator who blocks an up-or-down vote on health care reform with a public option,’ according to an e-mail sent to group members on Thursday

A civil war is threatening to erupt within the Democratic Party as liberal advocacy group MoveOn.org looks to punish moderate Democrats opposed to the sweeping health care overhaul proposed by party leaders.

MoveOn has reportedly raised more than $3.5 million in contributions to fund primary challenges against “any Democratic senator who blocks an up-or-down vote on health care reform with a public option,” according to an e-mail sent to group members on Thursday.

The e-mail warned that any Democratic House member who joins Republicans to filibuster the health care reform measure will “face an enormous backlash from the grassroots.”

There’s a lot to cover here.

First, the goons have been unleashed. The SEIU and ACORN will not be far behind. It’s no mystery as to why this email became public. It is meant as a warning to Democratic lawmakers. Let’s translate that idea.

CALL IT SOMETHING ELSE TRANSLATION: “Ehh, the Don wants this legislation for his legacy. He knows most of yous, as well as himself, will be voted out in the next few years, so he wants this done! Once it’s passed, no one will ever get rid of it, and Democrats can say every election, “Those evil Republicans want to take yous’s health care away so yous’ll DIIIIIIIE!!!!” If yous don’t cooperate with the Don, our respectable community organizers will make sure unfortunate things happen to yous…yeah “unfortunate,” that’s it.”

“Enormous backlash from the grassroots.” OK, we know what the Democratic grassroots are all about. They’ll show up with in buses, be paid, and wearing identically printed shirts and signs. They’ll spout off the scripts they’ve been given, and “speakers” claiming to be “doctors” at town halls will be Democratic plants. Sound familiar? It was done all this summer in response to the Tea Parties.

3.5 million?? Come on Mr. Soros, you have billions. Get your minions at the DNC to put in more. Or, better yet, throw in a 100 million of your own. It’s for your socialist agenda, isn’t it? You have enough of a tangled web to launder all of that money so it doesn’t appear to be from you! Come on now, go all in! 3.5 million is a pittance, only enough to damage one blue dog, if that.

OK, sarcastic ranting aside, Why am I obviously happy with this? Well, the nation is against ObamaCare, PelosiCare, KilloffGrannyCare, or whatever you want to call it. The public option is a big reason why. If the left knocks of Democratic moderates, and puts socialists up against Republicans, Conservatives, and Independents, they will get annihilated at the polls. The left, the MSM, and pretty much anyone outside of the “alternative media” haven’t a clue that there is a change going on out in flyover country. And yes, it IS a change that we can believe in.

Oh I just remembered…

Isn’t the “extreme” wing of a party attacking nice moderates very, very bad? I guess it’s only bad when Conservatives do it.

Like him or not, I think Alex Jones’ views should at least be considered. There have been to many incindents over this past year that have been used to take power away from the people and force it into the hands of a government or possibly a shadow government. I think if we aren’t open to the idea that something sinister like a new world order exists, they we are looking away at a possible enemy and will be less prepared.

I say this with caution even though, like Dick Morris says in the video, I have seen enough evidence that I am no longer sure I want to discount the possiblity that Obama is a puppet, chosen because of his race to give Americans the feeling they have elected someone who is different to give them the false sense of home, only to have someone who will protect their interests, which is what we are seeing as Obama makes deals with Wall Street.

Yesterday, I posted a video of Timothy Geithner saying that Ron Paul’s bill, HR1207, to audit the Federal Reserve crosses a line we shouldn’t cross. The Federal Reserve has been a huge source of controversy often rooted in the idea of the New World Order, and some people believe John F. Kennedy’s death was the result of an exectuive order Kennedy signed on June 4, 1963. Executive Order No. 11110 would have taken the power to issue currency from the Federal Reserve and give it back to the Congress. Five months later, Kennedy was dead.

In case you don’t know, the Federal Reserve is ran by a group of very powerful bankers who issue currency to the federal government in loans and make profits from the interest form their lending. That’s right, the US Government pays interest on the money. If you think Madoff is evil, he doesn’t even come close as those involved with the scheme that is the Federal Reserve.

Prior to this year, New World Order was something I heard from George H.W. Bush’s mouth that made me uncomfortable, but I wasn’t sure why. Since the rundown of over $500 billion on September 11, 2008 that Democratic Congressman Paul Kanjorski, I have paid more attention at the ugly side of the government and possibly the influence of the New World Order.

Since then, many of the things I heard Alex Jones warn of while he made guest appearances on the Mancow show started to seem not so crazy. When you consider there is legislation in the House of Representatives to establish FEMA camps, take more control of the food production, the swine flu fear almost as if they have it planned, the ordering of large amounts of plastic coffins, forced community service and a national day of service which is more brainwashing the idea of state to the sheeple (as if your taxes aren’t enough service), the militia reports, government sponsored violence through the SEIU with marching orders directly from Obama all designed to define who opposes and create more division, the further movement towards stealing our First and Second Amendment rights, TARP money provided not just to American banks but international banks as well, and I could go on. There is clearly a force in Washington that is dangerous to freedom, our Constitution, and our country.

Think what you want. Snub the idea of the New World Order. It’s hard to make sense out of this crazy world and all these strange coincidences if you fail to consider drawing the connection. Let’s not forget Obama and Hillary were at Bilderberg 2008. Bilderberg, the ultra secret meetings of a group of the world’s most elite power brokers. At one time, I thought all of this was far fetched and laughed at the idea when my own father brought it up. Now I am afraid he was wise and watched it develop many years before. I hope we are both wrong, but I am afraid I am not.
