The mounting body count that Planned Parenthood denies

Planned Parenthood continues to increase its abortion numbers, all the while maintaining that it aims only to serve women’s needs. With deadly numbers and with services being funded by our tax dollars, the insinuation of this organization into nearly all aspects of reproductive life should spark outrage. To stop this frightening trend, we must all take action and stand for this no more.

Cecile Richards, the current president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), has repeatedly claimed that the root cause of abortion is unintended pregnancy. She tells her audiences that this is why Planned Parenthood emphasizes contraceptive services and other reproductive health choices for its clients—including underage teens. Richards explains that, in this way, PPFA is contributing to a decline in the surgical abortion rate.

Obviously Richards not only does not admit that a human person dies during an abortion, but she fails to explain that most of the popular—and lucrative for Planned Parenthood—birth control methods can also act to abort children. Such details are not of interest to the queen of Planned Parenthood’s misinformation machine.

Richards has defended her organization’s commitment to http://www.plannedparenthood.org/about-us/national-leadership/cecile-richards-4676.htm improving women’s health while repeatedly failing to provide the public with facts—including an honest answer to this question: “Why is it that Planned Parenthood promotes surgical abortion as part of its overall reproductive health program?” Richards and her co-workers labored tirelessly to ensure passage of the http://www.plannedparenthood.org/about-us/national-leadership/cecile-richards-4676.htm Obama health care reform law; her henchmen were already in place within the Department of Health and Human Services, paving the way for even more tax dollars to be poured into the PPFA steam engine. Clearly PPFA will stop at nothing to acquire further enhancements for its efforts to drive unsuspecting teens and young women through its door for birth control. And when that fails, Planned Parenthood is most willing, of course, to provide a helping hand by offering surgical abortion, as the organization is well known for being among the best creators of a permanent clientele. That revolving birth control door always provides the abortion back-up, which is why too many gullible clients become the mothers of dead children—children killed by the very reproductive health services Richards claims help curtail surgical abortion.

But now, thanks to the efforts of Jim Sedlak http://ww.all.org/article.php?id=5249 and Rita Diller http://ww.all.org/article.php?id=5252 of American Life League’s Stop Planned Parenthood International (STOPP), we have the facts and are exposing the horrendous specifics that Richards and her cronies have long denied.

One such startling statistic, taken from Planned Parenthood’s records, is that between 1973—when the United States Supreme Court decriminalized surgical abortion in America—and 2008, Planned Parenthood has facilitated the direct killing of 4,987,817 http://www.stopp.org/wsr.php?wsr_dt=20100915 preborn children. Yes, nearly five million dead babies!

That gruesome number accounts for more than 25 percent of the children killed by abortion in the USA.

Planned Parenthood claims that its abortion business represents less than three percent of its total services. http://www.plannedparenthood.org/files/AR08_vFinal.pdf Since nearly 40.6 percent of its total income is received from abortion services, it is obvious that it again has chosen to deny the obvious, obfuscate the truth and play on the heartstrings of the unaware by appealing to the average person’s concern for the poor and downtrodden while raking in the blood money.

Based on the dubious distinction of being a not-for-profit charity that has garnered more than $152 million from this slaughter, it is perfectly clear that Planned Parenthood is committed to increasing its abortion business at all costs, even if it means deceiving the public.

If this information disturbs you, then please get involved in stopping the deadly business Planned Parenthood is conducting with your tax dollars. Find out what you can do locally and sign a petition to cut off government funding for Planned Parenthood by visiting the STOPP web site today. http://www.stopp.org/article.php?id=4912

Children’s lives and souls depend on your action. Please do not delay.

Trivializing truth Planned Parenthood style

Paula Gianino, CEO of Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis region, is having a real problem with the effort to achieve legal recognition of personhood for all human beings—born and preborn. She has come to the conclusion that pro-personhood Americans don’t believe in “the right to safe, legal abortion.” http://www.stltoday.com/news/opinion/mailbag/article_e847eb82-8194-5fa8-bdef-0ef71ba74bcb.html

Of course, she’s right, since those of us who understand basic biology and human embryology know that direct abortion kills a living human being. http://www.lifeissues.net/writers/irv/irv_01lifebegin1.html Apparently, Gianino missed that chapter in her Biology 101 class.

She writes that a recently approved informed-consent law in Missouri http://www.kmov.com/news/local/Ethics-abortion-remain-at-end-of-Missouri-Legislature-93769874.html “is intended to add more distress, costs, burdens and barriers to abortion. It will create unnecessary delays and increase mid-trimester abortions (which has happened since the first waiting period law was passed).” http://www.stltoday.com/news/opinion/mailbag/article_e847eb82-8194-5fa8-bdef-0ef71ba74bcb.html

It’s this sort of rhetoric that helps proponents of abortion salve their consciences as they consistently deny that the act of abortion takes the life of a human being. The focus of such hyperbole is on the female, the expectant mother, who is never referenced as an expectant mother because abortion enthusiasts don’t admit that a child is growing inside his mother. Gianino wouldn’t write that abortion itself distresses and burdens the child in the womb to death, because she doesn’t believe it.

Gianino tells the reader, “An embryo and the fetus, for most of its nine months in utero, is not separate from the woman. It is completely dependent on the woman for its growth and development. Anti-choice groups disregard the woman entirely; the woman’s life, health and future do not matter. Elevating the status of the fetus over that of the woman is dangerous and dismissive of women, trivializes the issue and strips women of their integrity and humanity.”

First and most importantly, the preborn child has to depend on his mom for nutrition and housing, but so does a newborn infant. I never met a newborn who could lead a life of total independence. Why doesn’t Gianino give this little fact some thought? Just because the preborn child needs his mother in order to survive shouldn’t give anyone license to murder him.

Further, if pro-life Americans didn’t care for the expectant mom and want to do everything we could to assist her and her baby throughout her pregnancy and beyond, if she needs it, we wouldn’t be living up to our pro-life principles. We care deeply for each of these moms and their children, which is more than proven by the numerous pregnancy resource centers run by pro-lifers worldwide. http://www.heartbeatinternational.org/

This outpouring of unconditional love is also the reason why it’s pro-life people who minister to the post-abortive moms. http://www.rachelsvineyard.org Once she realizes that the actions she took have resulted in her being the mother of a dead child instead of a living, breathing bundle of joy, she can suffer numerous problems and even life-threatening illness. http://www.cirtl.org/syndrome.htm Pro-lifers are there for her because we care.

Stripping women of their integrity and humanity is precisely what happens every time a Planned Parenthood employee or any “reproductive health” specialist, for that matter, ignores the human personhood of the baby and the expectant mom’s real needs, focusing instead on getting rid of the “problem pregnancy” by requiring payment for and then committing an abortion.

Integrity begins with honoring the truth, and respect for humanity begins with recognition of motherhood and the fact that two people are involved in that pregnancy—mother and child.

So, if Planned Parenthood’s standard euphemisms are correctly translated, you’ll see that Gianino tells the truth when she writes, “Anti-choice groups never have worked with us on much-needed prevention programs for family planning or sexual health education. They openly oppose such bills and do nothing to address unintended pregnancy.”

If a pro-life American were to sidle up next to someone who promotes the killing of preborn children by denying their personhood, that would be an act of hypocrisy. I don’t know a single pro-life person who’s willing to do such a thing. We can’t help it that folks like Gianino refuse to recognize motherhood as a blessing but instead promote “reproductive choice” and a woman’s freedom to choose to kill her child.

Until such ideologues understand truth for what it really is, we have nothing to talk about.

An “unintended pregnancy” is a baby, and intended or not, that baby was planned by God. Our job is to affirm him and his mom, not betray her trust with falsehood.

No—we won’t sit down with folks who ignore undeniable facts. What we will do is keep struggling against the purveyors of death and destruction until every last one of them is out of business.

Rather than being used to assist the suffering, it is going to be used to inflict suffering and death on the unsuspecting preborn child and his mother.

WesternFront America

Telemedicine as telemassacre

The relationship between a patient and physician is one that has long been both protected and sacred. Patients are taught to trust their physicians—for they are learned and should have the patient’s best interests in mind one hundred percent of the time. A new trend in medicine allows the doctor and patient to converse from afar. But what happens when that doctor prescribes a dangerous medication and then sends the patient home to fend for herself—alone in her home?

Merriam-Webster defines telemedicine as http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/telemedicine “the practice of medicine when the doctor and patient are widely separated using two-way voice and visual communication (as by satellite or computer).”

Note that the proper definition references medicine and explains how a doctor and a patient communicate. This definition has nothing whatsoever in common with the latest development in Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) practices. When Operation Rescue www.operationrescue.org refers to “telemed” it is not talking about congenial conversations between physicians and their patients, but rather http://www.operationrescue.org/page/3/ “remote-controlled dispensing of abortion drugs.”

Operation Rescue has been at the forefront of exposing this dastardly practice since day 1, and it was its initial report that explained what this business is really all about. http://www.operationrescue.org/archives/special-report-telemed-abortions-endanger-women-and-drive-up-insurance-costs/

A telemed abortion is abortion via a teleconferencing service similar to “Skype.” Patients are put in a room where an off-site abortionist appears on a computer monitor and explains the medical abortion procedure to them over an Internet hook-up. After the brief teleconference, the dangerous abortion drug RU486, also known as Mifepristone and Mifeprex, and its counterpart, Misoprostol, are prescribed. The drugs are then administered to the patient by a nurse or “clinician” who may or may not be licensed. The patient presses a button on a computer screen that opens a box containing the abortion drugs. The patient is never physically examined by the medical doctor prescribing the drugs—or any other, for that matter—and never sees the abortionist again.

The so-called telemed abortions have received a great deal of attention on the internet but, as usual, Planned Parenthood is slightly ahead of the curve and is doing everything it can to protect its lucrative internet-abortion trade. According to Cecile Richards, http://iowaindependent.com/34656/qa-with-cecile-richards-of-planned-parenthood president of PPFA, “It’s an incredibly important option for women who decide to terminate a pregnancy.”

Most recently, http://www.catholicculture.org/news/headlines/index.cfm?storyid=7385 Planned Parenthood’s Iowa affiliate has gone to court attempting to block Operation Rescue’s request for full disclosure of information relating to telemed abortions.

It should be obvious that such a practice, even if it did not involve the direct killing of a preborn child, would be more than slightly dangerous to the second patient who is involved—the expectant mother. But somehow this fact has not occurred to anyone—including the Iowa Board of Medicine which, according to Operation Rescue, is cozy with Planned Parenthood. So much for the Hippocratic Oath http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/doctors/oath_classical.html and its tenet, “first do no harm.”

The implications of such a practice, in view of the Obama health care reform law, are staggering. The actual rate of aborting preborn children could escalate faster than anyone might imagine. As Stop Planned Parenthood International (STOPP) reported http://www.stopp.org/article.php?id=6758, Cecile Richards has said that PPFA’s goal for telemed abortion is that the practice will go nationwide by the year 2015. She explained to the Iowa Independent that PPFA is http://iowaindependent.com/34656/qa-with-cecile-richards-of-planned-parenthood “the single biggest provider of reproductive health care in America and, again, I think because of the new health care law that is only going to grow. We are thankful for the support whether in Cedar Rapids or anywhere else in America.”

The irrefutable evidence indicates that telemedicine which, on its own, is an excellent breakthrough for those in society who are ill, is going to take a left turn. Rather than being used to assist the suffering, it is going to be used to inflict suffering and death on the unsuspecting preborn child and his mother.

PPFA is going to employ the practice to create yet another path through which countless numbers of preborn children will be chemically massacred as “clinicians” collect their fees while ignoring the tragic consequences, which are legion and very well documented. http://www.straight-talk.net/abortion/consequences.shtml

This “business as usual’ attitude among so-called reproductive health professionals should give every American pause. Reproduction used to occur in factories; health used to deal specifically with the well-being of individuals. Today’s perspective, however, is quite different.

The current reproductive health industry specializes in debilitation, deception and death, and we must speak up if we are to protect both women and children from this travesty.

Planned Parenthood—an organization that kills preborn babies, destroys the lives of mothers and, through its brand of sex education, helps form a twisted sense of sexuality among teens—has reached its long arm into our communities for far too many years. Aided by a government that supports it by giving it millions in tax dollars, Planned Parenthood will stop at nothing to pervert the lives of America’s youth. Many years ago, one man had a vision of how to stop Planned Parenthood’s encroachment of our society.

When Stop Planned Parenthood International (STOPP) www.stopp.org started in 1985, the man who had the brilliant idea could not fathom all that it would take to expose the ruthless tactics of Planned Parenthood. But he did know one thing—he had to try. In the 25 years since its inception, Jim Sedlak http://www.all.org/newsroom/jim.php has done a phenomenal job helping grass-roots Americans from one end of this country to the other use their “Parent Power” http://americanlifeleague.stores.yahoo.net/parentpower.html to expose the grisly truth about Planned Parenthood.

But the real source of Planned Parenthood’s ongoing ability to deceive, destroy and denigrate young people, as well as their preborn babies, remains unmoved by Sedlak’s mission. An abundant stream of money to fund its services comes from the federal government. As we learn from the Wednesday STOPP Report, http://www.stopp.org/wsr.php which goes to activists in the pro-life community and beyond every week, Planned Parenthood’s snout is filled to overflowing every year with an increasing amount of our tax dollars. The amounts have never gone down—always up—even under the apparently lazy eye of so-called pro-life presidents like George Bush and Ronald Reagan.

Right now, for those who are counting, Planned Parenthood receives in excess of $350 million http://www.stopp.org/wsr.php and, under Obama, may get even more! So what’s the problem here?

How is it that STOPP, along with many allies around the nation, can expose Planned Parenthood facilities, shut them down, get them out of the schools and work all manner of minor miracles, yet the federal government remains comatose? The answer lies in a bureaucracy of federal employees and special appointees handpicked by Planned Parenthood in the smoke-filled backrooms of Congress.

Our STOPP team is redoubling its work to stop government funding of Planned Parenthood. Studying a small mountain of Planned Parenthood affiliates’ federal forms 990 and annual reports, it discovered some very disturbing trends.

For instance, Planned Parenthood of New York City’s 2008 annual report shows it had to repay $1.48 million to Medicaid due to overbilling. Add Planned Parenthood of New York City to the list of Planned Parenthood affiliates that have recently been exposed gobbling up obscene amounts of taxpayer money through improper Medicaid billing—including offices in New Jersey, California and Washington state—and you will see a picture emerging of an organization that has established a pattern of improperly billing Medicaid in order to get even more taxpayer money.

Our STOPP team is working diligently behind the scenes to expose Planned Parenthood’s lack of accountability for its use of federal funds, and to ensure the cessation of the flow of federal funds into the coffers of Planned Parenthood.

If it sounds like we’re a bit disconcerted by the fifty years of slumber experienced by politicians on the Washington, D.C. side of the Potomac, then you understand our frustration. But we hope that you also understand that we will never give up on our efforts to stop the ebb and flow of our tax money from funding the scurrilous activities of this nation’s number-one promoter of the murder of preborn babies—an organization that also destroys the souls of our children.

Sedlak’s right arm, STOPP’s director Rita Diller, recently explained in a Washington Times commentary http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/jul/30/a-black-hole-for-babies-and-bucks/?page=3 what we already knew, what the public needs to know and what every responsible elected official should be using to pull the plug out of that trough:

If Planned Parenthood—a tax-exempt organization bankrolled to a staggering extent by the government—won’t hand over its internal audits or let the public know the details of its operations, our government should stop handing over the taxpayers’ hard-earned dollars to the organization. With 40 percent of Planned Parenthood‘s customers abandoning it every year, the organization is a sinking ship.

Now is the time! STOPP has the momentum! Let the skewering of the pig begin.

Convenient demonizing in pro life politics

An interesting bit of trivia is floating around in the press these days. It seems that between 2002 and 2009, nearly one billion dollars was given to organizations that support abortion in some way. In fact, those dollars were taxpayer dollars. Catholic News Service informs us that http://www.catholicnews.com/data/stories/cns/1002528.htm the recent GAO report “looked at government funding given to Advocates for Youth (AFY), the Guttmacher Institute (AGI), International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), Population Council of the United States (PCI) and Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States (SIECUS).”

· Advocates for Youth: http://www.advocatesforyouth.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=22&Itemid=51 Encourages sexual rights and promiscuity

· AGI: http://www.guttmacher.org/ Planned Parenthood’s research arm

· IPPF: http://www.ippf.org/en/ Spreads Planned Parenthood’s bilge internationally

· PPFA: http://www.plannedparenthood.org/ Proponent of every sexual evil known to man

· PCI: http://www.popcouncil.org/countries/us.asp Less people is best

· SIECUS: http://www.siecus.org/ Proponents of sex instruction programs

In addition, American Life League’s Rita Diller combed PPFA’s annual reports and found out that it actually took in more than two billion in tax dollars between fiscal years 2002 and 2008. Yet it only spent $657.1 million. So where did the rest of the money go?

The results of these reports are staggering, particularly given the fact that America is in dire financial straits. Diller points out that for the majority of Americans who consider themselves pro-life, a few questions need to be cleared up! http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/jun/18/planned-parenthoods-missing-millions/

“Someone … needs to explain to all those people why $2.3 billion in tax dollars have been doled out to an organization that admits to systematically having killed more than 1.8 million preborn babies between 2002 and 2008 and then reports it only spent $657.1 million in federal dollars.”

As an aside, the title of Diller’s Washington Times exposé was “Planned Parenthood’s missing millions,” which led at least one reader to ask whether it was referring to the number of dead babies or dollars.

And then there’s the blame game. While it is true that Obama has carried the funding forward and increased it in many cases, he is not the first president to provide Planned Parenthood those tax dollars out of our pockets. No, that would be the president who signed Title X of the Public Health Service Act into law in 1970, Richard M. Nixon. http://www.guttmacher.org/pubs/ib16.html

Since that time, there has never been a president who has worked to end this debacle. This is why the culture-of-death stalwarts continue to receive the fuel that operates their machinery.

Some claim that we have had presidents, Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush, for example, who are heroes to at least the political segments of the pro-life movement. But even these two alleged defenders of the pro-life position lifted not a single finger, or even a fingernail, to stop the funding. So why make this a partisan issue?

After all, if a man like President Ronald Reagan didn’t stand up to the apostles of death, why can’t pro-life Americans be honest enough to admit that funding for such groups transcends partisan politics?

Here’s a clue. In order to oppose taxpayer funding for organizations like PPFA, AGI and SIECUS, a leader has to be prepared to stand up to what would certainly be one of the most vociferous and long-lasting media tirades in our history.

This person would have to set forth the facts. He or she would have to gather up the courage to point out that the government has no business in population control advocacy, birth control advocacy or abortion advocacy. And should a politician do this, he would need the public, vocal support of the entire United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, the evangelical community and other religious organizations with a grasp of this truth: that the only legitimate role of government is to defend and protect its citizens.

That’s all it would take. But upon reflecting back on the past 40 years of political posturing, I confess that such a person may not exist. Or if he or she does exist, then perhaps that person has already decided that the American system of justice toward the innocent is so debilitated at this point that there are better things to do in the service of God and country.

Abortions Fundamental Deception

Thirty-seven years ago, the United States Supreme Court decriminalized an act that Planned Parenthood had spent years promoting as a backup to failed contraception. That act is abortion. The historical fact is that, during the 1960s, Planned Parenthood’s campaign to make contraception acceptable took the position that contraception was not abortion. Why? Because lying served its political purposes.

In one of its advertisements at the time, PP actually admitted, “An abortion kills the life of a baby after it has begun.” http://www.dakotavoice.com/2009/06/planned-parenthood-admits-abortion-kills-the-life-of-a-baby/ By telling the public that this was the major difference between contraception and abortion, PP sought to convince the public that, for this reason alone, contraception was better than abortion.

PP never bothered to point out that the contraception it promoted also could kill a preborn child. It did not have to—it just convinced the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology to change the biological facts.

In 1965, ACOG issued a bulletin stating http://www.all.org/article.php?id=10678 “CONCEPTION is the implantation of the fertilized ovum.” The lies just kept coming!

Good friend and Catholic columnist Joe Sobran wrote in “Legacy of Lies” http://www.sobran.com/issuetexts/2003-02.htm:

Early advocates of legal abortion agreed that abortion was a bad thing, but argued that legalization would make it easier to regulate. Then they adopted the agnostic line: “nobody can say” whether abortion is wrong — it should be a matter of “individual conscience.” Finally they switched to the position that abortion is a positive good, “a fundamental human[!] and constitutional right,” which taxpayers, no matter what their consciences told them, should be forced to subsidize. The more abortions, the better. From pretending to want to minimize the frequency of abortion — since “it happens anyway” — they quickly moved to maximize it.

And so it goes, lie after lie. Refute one lie, and two others spring up in its place. It’s as tiresome as it is futile to debate people who argue in such consistent bad faith.

The fact is that those who advocate the killing of the preborn child are the very same people who would deny that a preborn human being is a person. PP and its cronies are committed to deception, for if they were not, they would never defend an act that kills someone by claiming that it was something else entirely. If this sounds like double-talk to you, then you understand the fundamental problem with abortion … abortion is a lie.

Each day that abortion remains divorced from truth is another day the treachery continues. And it just keeps getting worse.

At a new PP facility in Colorado where RU-486 (mifepristone) abortions are available for $425 dollars each, http://www.all.org/article.php?id=12850 we find the following on the PP web site: http://www.plannedparenthood.org/health-center/centerDetails.asp?f=2172

Abortion pill (medication abortion) is offered up to nine weeks after the start of your last menstrual period. If your last period was more than nine weeks ago, we can still help. Call us for a referral list of health care providers in your area that offer other abortion services.

From these few words, the depth of the abortion deception is clear. Equating the taking of a life with “health care” tells the entire story about the level at which Planned Parenthood operates.

They will lie to your children in the classroom; they will deceive them in a school-based clinic, they will spirit them away to a place where surgical killing is done … and they will do it all with your tax dollars.

Isn’t it time to stop the lies? If you think so, join us and make your voice heard. Contact American Life League www.all.org today!

Planned Parenthood’s Religion

No matter how challenging this struggle to defend the human person becomes, there is one stunning aspect of it that never ceases to disgust me. And that is the actions and influences of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA). http://www.plannedparenthood.org/

The recent causes of personal nausea come from a variety of news reports including a Houston, Texas, item detailing the opening of a new Planned Parenthood facility http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/7015381.html. “The $26 million project, dubbed Prevention Park, is the largest Planned Parenthood administrative and medical facility in the nation. It also serves as the headquarters for 12 clinics—10 in Texas and two in Louisiana.”

According to a local television news report, http://www.39online.com/videobeta/1a2fa11a-0e67-41ff-a0f1-3ce726d27198/News/Planned-Parenthood-Building-Opens-5-20-10 the dedication of the building included a “prayer service” and the building was actually defined as “sacred and holy ground.” Now in case that is a somewhat disturbing piece of trivia, please note that while it appears to be perfectly acceptable for Planned Parenthood to conduct a “religious” service within the walls of an establishment that your tax dollars and mine are funding, such would not be the case if a Christian football coach at the local public high school wanted to lead his team in prayer.

Houston Coalition for Life reported in an e-mail to our office after leading a protest at the new facility: “This was a truly sacrilegious prayer service, certainly not invoking God our Almighty Father. So, Planned Parenthood, the number one killer of unborn children in the womb, who is your god?”

To which most of us would respond, I believe his name is Satan. And the evil one’s newest playground is Prevention Park, a place where developing preborn babies are prevented from being born, young expectant mothers are prevented from hearing about their own child’s development and school children are prevented from understanding that Planned Parenthood’s various products are accompanied with the threat of sexually transmitted diseases, various forms of cancer and possibly death. Prevention Park—a synonym for lies.

Another of Planned Parenthood’s faith principles is that education should be one-sided or not exist at all and their influence is everywhere. Take the current case in Norfolk, Virginia, as an example. Some of us at American Life League watched a news report http://www.breitbart.tv/virginia-principal-is-placed-on-leave-for-distributing-fetus-dolls-to-students/ detailing events surrounding the suspension of Oakwood Elementary School Principal Sheila Tillett Holas. It seems school officials are investigating an elementary school staff member’s use of “4-inch-long plastic fetus dolls” as part of a project for third, fourth and fifth grade students. http://hamptonroads.com/print/554482

During the news report, which we would encourage you to watch, there are terms used that truly boggle the mind. Here we are in the United States of America, where adult citizens involved in educating our children and transmitting information over the airwaves are supposed to be enlightened, intelligent and capable of providing essential information with clarity. One would think that such people would understand such basic facts as fetal development. Well, if you listen to the newscaster, her report begs the question, “Oh, really?”

The reporters use terms such as “fetus dolls,” “fetus figures” and “squishy flesh-life figures” to describe the fetal model known as Precious One. http://www.heritagefetalmodels.com/pro_life_products_details.asp?prod_id=3378&display_grouping_id=&group_id=66&page=1&site_id=27&look=1 The model of the twelve-week-old preborn child is described by the designers at Heritage House as “the most realistic 12-week fetal model ever developed. Its beautiful detail, softness and weight can really move hearts and change minds! Each baby includes a free full-color development card describing the first trimester of life.”

Well, someone should have told this to the “outraged” school officials and the apparently ill-informed news reporters in Norfolk including the reporter from WAVY who instead described it this way http://www.wavy.com/dpp/news/local_news/school-board-investigates-fetus-dolls:

An anti-abortion card was handed out with the dolls that read: “Some people think that my life began at birth, but my life’s journey began long before I was born.’ Norfolk schools Spokeswoman Elizabeth Thiel Mather said that the dolls were not authorized instruction materials.” … “We’re very concerned because these weren’t authorized obviously by the curriculum,” said Mike Spencer, another Norfolk schools spokesperson. “We’ve taken some pretty aggressive steps.”

One of those aggressive steps was not, according to what we have learned, investigating the authenticity of the fetal model.

LifeNews interviewed pro-life registered nurse and blogger Jill Stanek, http://www.lifenews.com/state5115.html who brilliantly put this in perspective, calling the outrage “so ridiculous and beyond the pale.”

She pointed out quotes from school board officials, such as School Board Chairman Stephen Tonelson, who said, “It is hard to imagine that we would have an employee who believes it would be appropriate to share plastic fetus dolls with students in one of our schools.”

Board member Kirk Houston Sr. added: “Very life-like, and it’s a pro-life tool. To be quite honest, that is so incredible to me, that a staff member would do something so … entirely inappropriate and unacceptable. [Board members] were all pretty dumbfounded.”

Stanek responded, “What’s the difference between this doll and any other baby doll? Yet here are incredibly obtuse quotes from school board members.’”

Right on, Jill! Further, one wonders what would have happened if the same school staff person had been assisting a Planned Parenthood presenter as he was providing a condom demonstration instead of a fetal model to the children. Would the outrage be the same?

Obviously, this is right in line with PP’s creed that it is a woman’s right to never know or see her preborn baby. This is also why PP has launched a series of rallies in four Florida cities http://www.orlandosentinel.com/features/os-planned-parenthood-lobbies-crist-20100513,0,2430733.story to pressure Florida Governor Crist to veto legislation that would require abortion providers to show an expectant mother an ultrasound prior to killing her baby.

“It’s bad legislation,” said Sue Idtensohn, CEO of Planned Parenthood of Greater Orlando. “It’s mandating something that doctors and their patients should decide on their own. What other medical procedure would lawmakers try to force people to undergo?”

Clearly, the Planned Parenthood mantra, karma or whatever one might call it is devoid of truth, respect for human dignity and basic decency. The only way to get rid of this cancerous pox on our society is exposure, and that is why if you are reading this you need to subscribe to Stop Planned Parenthood International’s (STOPP) Wednesday STOPP Report. Don’t delay, as the soul you might protect from this wickedness may well be a member of your own family.

What now?

By Johanna Dasteel

It is hard to believe. Many of us are still pinching ourselves, hoping that it was only a dream or, rather, a nightmare, but the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, also known as “the Senate bill” is now law. We now stand face to face with a brave new America, home of a nationalized health care system complete with taxpayer-financed murder, most commonly committed by surgical and medical abortions. Not only does brave new America, under this law, usurp our personal responsibilities to charitably care for our neighbors but a few other dastardly delinquencies will also be carried out under its dominion:

1. It gives Planned Parenthood the financial boost it has been posturing to receive for decades, essentially making it the government family planning agency. STOPP National Director Rita Diller outlined the financial (and deadly) boon in her March 26 commentary entitled “Planned Parenthood’s Obamacare Grand Slam.”

2. It funds abortifacient contraceptives through the new insurance option.

3. It does not provide any conscience protection for health care providers, insurance companies or taxpayers with moral objections to providing and funding fatal assaults on vulnerable human beings, particularly the preborn (medical, surgical and chemical abortions, human fetal research, fertility “treatments”), infirm (severely mentally and physically handicapped, people artificially aided with food and hydration) and elderly.

4. Building on the stimulus package’s health information technology, it will use a cost-efficiency model of health care to determine the course of treatments for U.S. citizens—an affront to the dignity of the human person, especially the vulnerable infirm and elderly.

5. And worst of all, it directly funds abortions; notwithstanding the executive order that merely reiterates the language of the health care law, so now those who did not fit in the “status quo” of the traditional abortion funding bans on Capitol Hill will also face taxpayer-funded deaths.

While some in the pro-life movement talked about upholding the “status quo,” Denver’s Archbishop Chaput instead discussed the “minimum moral standards” necessary for Catholic support of the Senate health care bill in his March 17 column for the Denver Catholic Register http://www.archden.org/index.cfm/ID/3583 :

It does not meet minimum moral standards in at least three important areas: the exclusion of abortion funding and services; adequate conscience protections for health-care professionals and institutions; and the inclusion of immigrants.

Archbishop Chaput’s message fell on the deaf ears of Catholics in the House of Representatives, and, worse, what Archbishop Chaput articulated as the Catholic Church’s “minimum moral standards” are not even met by the “status quo”:

- America funds Planned Parenthood, but this occurred even before the passage of HR 3590. Every cosponsor of Rep. Mike Pence’s amendment to the Labor, Health and Human Service’s Appropriation Bill’s Title X, banning Planned Parenthood from receiving any of those grant monies, will tell you that we have been funding abortion for decades. Funding Planned Parenthood is funding for abortions, not to mention the pornographic materials it bills as “comprehensive sex education.”

- America currently directly funds abortions that kill children conceived in rape and incest. Stupak’s language http://www.necn.com/03/21/10/Stupak-Maintaining-status-quo-on-abortio/landing.html?blockID=201691&feedID=4215 perpetuates this discriminatory policy and maintains this “status quo.”

- The “status quo” perpetuates the fallacy that mothers’ lives must be pitted against their childrens’, that doctors are incapable of providing equal care to both mother and child, that when a mother’s health is compromised while with child, that it is not only justifiable to kill her child because it tugs at the strings of our empathetic sentiments, but that it is necessary. It is never necessary to kill one human being so that another might live. The Hippocratic Oath http://www.medterms.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=20909 , which requires doctors to provide equal care to every person, just as the government is required to give equal protection to every person, is undermined by this “status quo.” Stupak’s language is a continuation of this lie commonly referred to as the “life of the mother” exception.

Stupak’s language, although lauded as adhering to the “status quo”, was clearly not acceptable. So, why were pro-life groups promoting his amendment, saying that it barred the bill from funding abortion and creating the illusion that it would solve the “pro-life problem?” Of course, his language didn’t survive the process, and now many of these same leaders and their faithful grassroots support are feeling deeply betrayed by their gone-in-the-night hero, Rep. Bart Stupak.

Unavoidably, compromise breeds compromise, and, aside from the parliamentary tricks used to pass HR 3590 into law, it is safe to say that the support of now-infamous and so-called “Catholic” and pro-life organizations was instrumental in the passage of the final bill.

In the wake of this health care nightmare, American Catholics have been left confused and asking that dreaded question: “What now?”

I offer a humble suggestion; one that stalwart pro-lifers have been calling for as well: A recommitment to our original focus and intent to win back the right to life of the preborn, essentially ending all of the compromises.

Murder is not negotiable. Lives are not negotiable, nor are they political “issues” with which we can bargain. It is not the role of government to mitigate injustice, but to prosecute and correct it. Until it is formally and legally recognized that the preborn are persons, the prospect of publicly funding their executions will always be on the table and used for political gains.

In a time in which states’ rights are being discussed at length in order to combat Obamacare, it must be noted that there has been a movement afoot for several years now that has been doing just that.

Meet the answer to “what now?”

The human personhood movement has active initiatives in ten states, among them, Amendment 62 in Colorado, to define the term “person” as one that applies to every human being from the beginning of the biological development of that human being. In a time when the federal government is demonstrably turning its back on the will of the people, it is time to reclaim our liberties through our local and state governments. The human personhood movement realized this sooner than the rest of us. I suggest we hop on board and ride the wave of the states’ rights movement so that the preborn, whose very lives are at stake, have a fighting chance.

Let us pray, recollect ourselves and unite on the only thing that can save the pro-life movement: The bedrock principle that every human being is a person, each possessing inherent dignity, and with a claim to certain inalienable rights that we have an obligation to defend, chiefly the right to life, without exception and without compromise. Personhood Now!

To give or not to give?

by Leslie Tignor

Rarely a day, week or month goes by without it being designated as the day, week or month to support some sort of charity in our country. It seems that there is an ever-growing list of national events, races, telethons, radio-thons, ribbon car magnets, rubber wristbands and other charitable paraphernalia from which to choose to support these causes. There is the American Heart Association’s Jump Rope for Heart, the American Cancer’s Society’s Relay for Life, the Komen Foundation’s Race for the Cure, Avon’s Three-Day Walk, Lance Armstrong’s LiveStrong, the March of Dimes’ March for Babies, trick-or-treat for UNICEF and a plethora of others. Oh, and let’s not forget those Girl Scout cookies http://www.parentdish.com/2010/03/17/girl-scouts-distribute-planned-parenthood-sex-guide-at-united-na/ !

Donating to charity is, of course, a laudable act. Certainly, we are called to help support the needy among us and to contribute to the well-being of our society. It’s very likely we all know of someone, either personally or indirectly, who suffers from a condition or an illness that begs for treatment or a cure.

But, can we give to all of them? Probably not. Are all of them even worthy of our donations? Definitely not! The American Institute of Philanthropy http://www.charitywatch.org/toprated.html can help you decide if a charity will use your money in a financially prudent way. But some of these organizations, in the quest to help the needy and the disabled or find the ultimate cure, are actually supporting immoral causes. Some are partnered with Planned Parenthood and similar organizations. Some are conducting, supporting, funding or otherwise lobbying for research using human embryonic stem cells or aborted fetal body parts. How on earth then, are we pro-lifers supposed to figure out just which organizations are worthy of our donations?

Research. It takes some time and a bit of effort on our part; but when you’re concerned about where your hard-earned dollars are going and what you are actually funding, it’s worth it.

First, start by contacting the charity directly. Call, e-mail or write the charity and specifically ask for a copy of its position statement or organizational policy on abortion and research involving human embryonic stem cells, aborted fetal body parts and cloning. Some organizations are so unabashedly anti-life that they will gladly inform you that they contribute in some way to these activities. (Note that we say ask for a copy. Don’t just take the representative’s word for it; often they do not actually know or may supply incorrect information.)

For example, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s “Statement on Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research,” adopted June 25, 2005, states: “The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society therefore supports the use of human embryonic stem cells for research and development of therapies whenever the proposed research is judged meritorious by the Society’s appropriately constituted scientific review committees and Board of Directors.” Despite the 2005 date, the organization has not changed this policy.

http://www.all.org/charities/index.php?page=3#Leukemia_and_Lymphoma_Society

Second, check out the web site of the charity in question and enter “abortion” or “stem cell research” into the search field provided. Again, those organizations without qualms about supporting anti-life activities will have materials posted that answer these questions.

Considering a donation to the Lance Armstrong Foundation? A recent search of its web site for “embryonic stem cell research” lists the following result: “LIVESTRONG applauds Congress and the White House for its quick action on items necessary to improve the lives of people affected by cancer, including Embryonic Stem Cell Research: President Obama signed an executive order lifting the restrictions on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research on March 9, 2009. LIVESTRONG supports exploring every avenue of research, including embryonic stem cell research within specified ethical limits, until a cure for cancer is found.” (http://www.livestrong.org/site/c.khLXK1PxHmF/b.2704021/k.654A/At_the_National_Level.htm)

By the way, LIVESTRONG somehow finds it necessary to list abortion providers by state on its web site http://www.livestrong.com/business_abortion-providers/ . And Lance Armstrong has been attributed with the anti-God quote you can find here: http://www.lekare.com/index.php/2009/04/03/famous-anti-god-quotes/ . (Just something to think about the next time you see a kid with a yellow wristband.)

Other web sites may not be as direct, but sometimes they will supply enough information to raise red flags, or indicators of questionable positions. That means you need to delve a bit deeper. Search the internet. Pick a search engine and type in the charity name and “abortion,” “Planned Parenthood” or “stem cell research,” because connections not mentioned on the charity’s web site may be revealed elsewhere. While you may not find it listed under “partnerships,” charitable organizations frequently join coalitions and sign letters in support of related causes. You can find this out when you expand your search.

For example, the Alliance for Aging Research http://www.agingresearch.org/section/directory/ describes itself as “a member of the Coalition for the Advancement of Medical Research (CAMR), and holds a leadership position in that coalition. As such, the alliance supports public policies that advance research involving both adult and embryonic stem cells and regenerative medicine in general.”

A search of the Coalition for the Advancement of Medical Research reveals that CAMR published a letter in support of human embryonic stem cell research that was sent to every member of the 110th Congress. CAMR’s web site includes that letter as well as each signatory and links to the signatory’s web site. (http://www.camradvocacy.org/)

Additionally, charities that function somewhat like franchises may allow each local chapters to make its own funding or grant decisions. While you may not find any links to anti-life policies on the national charity’s web site, an internet search may reveal connections on a more local level. Connections may also occur in the reverse direction, as well. The United Way and the Komen Foundation are good examples of this type of structure. The national offices of these organizations allow each local chapter to decide whether or not to provide grants to local Planned Parenthood chapters. In any case, don’t buy the line that since a local chapter does not support unethical practices then it is okay to give. If the national office allows it and other chapters do it, then the whole organization is tainted.

Another excellent resource is Life Decision International’s Boycott List (www.fightpp.org). The Boycott List is a current and comprehensive list of all companies that financially support Planned Parenthood. It also includes a “dishonorable mention” section that lists nonprofit corporations that are linked to Planned Parenthood and/or its agenda. Recent inductees include America Gives Back (American Idol), Audubon Society, Camp Fire Girls, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Paralyzed Veterans of America and Save the Children, just to mention a few.

Of course, you can also check the list of charitable organizations on American Life League’s web site (www.all.org/charities). ALL surveyed a number of organizations and compiled the results for our supporters. We are constantly revising this list as we learn of new groups and receive updated information. And there are actually several “good” groups listed as well.

Finally, don’t allow yourself to become disheartened. While it may seem as if the culture of death only becomes richer by the minute, worthy charities are out there — and they do need your help. Sometimes you need look only as far as your own community: Local food banks, homeless shelters, soup kitchens and pregnancy help centers rarely have the resources to sponsor huge fundraisers or sell merchandise. Most likely, they are not tied to larger organizations steeped in unethical causes.

Today’s lesson? The time you spend doing the research is definitely worth the lives being saved. Give—but give wisely!
