Democratic Party Chair, Debbie Wasserman Schultz famously stated last May that “We own the economy. We own the beginning of the turnaround and we want to make sure that we continue that pace of recovery, not go back to the policies of the past under the Bush administration that put us in the ditch in the first place,” Well, the first part of that was true!  They own the economy!  And they have since America foolishly entrusted Congress to the leadership of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid back in 2006!

We’ll discuss the remainder of Wasserman Schulz’ statement in a moment… but first let’s establish a little historical background.

George Bush took office in January 2001 with a National Debt of 4 Trillion Dollars.  The economy was riding the bubbles of the tech explosion and the easy money in the housing market.  Less than a year later, we experienced the dot-com bust and the attacks of 9-11.  Remember that 9-11 was a DIRECT assault on our economy – the attack was directed at the WORLD TRADE CENTER… both a symbolic and a de-facto heart of our world commerce.  We naturally tend to focus on the loss of life and property, and well we should.  But the economic impact of that attack was enormous as well.

So we went to war.

How many times have you heard how military spending and Bush’s wars have bankrupted us?  Undoubtedly so many you can’t put a number to it!  But let’s examine the facts.

Remember the 87 billion dollars that John Kerry balked about… voting for it before voting against it back in 2004?  That was to fund those 2 wars for a year!  Is 87 billion dollars a lot of money?  Hell yes!  But we spent less on both wars in a decade than Obama’s stimulus cost us in one year!  So a little perspective, please!

But I digress.

The economy took a hit after 9/11, and our deficit climbed.  By 2003 it had soared to 420 billion dollars.  While a deficit that size would be a major blessing today, at the time it was historically large!  So what did George Bush do?

TAX CUTS!

And the left went nuts.  But the tax cuts did what tax cuts always do; revenues increased!  The deficit fell each of the following 3 years until; in 2006 the deficit was reduced from a high of 450 billion in 2003 by more than 2/3 to 120 billion.

In 2004, Congressional Republicans began hearings on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and started waving red flags about the sub-prime mortgage threat.  They were demanding MORE oversight and regulation of these entities and warned of the dangers of forcing lending institutions to make home loans to people who can’t afford them.

Who came to the defense of Fannie and Freddie, claiming there were no problems and there’s “nothing to see here”?  Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, Maxine Waters etc!

The Democrats created the problem with Carter and the Community Reinvestment Act of 1977.  Under guise of “encouraging” lending institutions to “meet the needs” of home borrowers in “moderate income areas”… this act empowered ACORN and other community organizing groups to pressure banks into making ill advised loans to people who simply would never be able to repay them.  You may wish to read about the act here:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Community_Reinvestment_Act

All sorts of new lending vehicles were created.  Interest only loans?  How is that different from rent?  One never gains any equity!  Balloon notes?  Get people into the house with an affordable payment, only to watch it skyrocket out of sight in a few years?

The Community Reinvestment Act was revisited by Clinton and even more regulations were placed on the banks.  The bubble was expanding faster now, and would soon burst.

Then we handed the reins of Congress, and the purse-strings, to Pelosi and Reid.  Bush had 2 years of his term remaining.  And yes, we were driven into the ditch during those 2 years.  But it wasn’t Bush that was driving… it was Pelosi and Reid!

In their first year, they tripled the deficit to 450 billion… 30 billion more than Bush’s worst deficit with a GOP congress.  And in their 2ndyear they tripled that to 1.3 Trillion dollars!  (More than 10 times the 2006 deficit!)  They added 3 trillion to the debt in just 2 years, so Bush left office with a 9 trillion dollar debt.

Bush had added 2 trillion with a GOP Congress in his first 6 years.  And 3 trillion more (a 50% increase in debt) in his last 2 years under the Pelosi/Reid 110thCongress.  In 2006 all of government spending was right around 2 trillion dollars.  Pelosi/Reid swelled the budget to 3.5 trillion in their 4 years!

Barack Obama took office, and the democrat triumvirate of Obama/Pelosi/Reid went on a spending spree.  The debt increased by another 5 trillion in 2 years.  Under a GOP presidency with a GOP congress, after 5 years of war, our debt was 6 trillion.  After 4 years of Pelosi-Reid, it is over 14 Trillion… and 5 trillion of that added in Obama’s first 2 years.  Remember that it took 230 years and 42 presidents to bring our debt to 5 trillion.  And the democrat triumvirate managed to raise our debt by 5 trillion in 2 years.  Interest payments on the debt have more than doubled in 4 years.

Yes.  Democrats own the economy.

And the downgrade?

Consider a family with a household income of $21,700 a year.  They have been spending $38,200 a year and added $16,500 to their credit card balances in the last year.  Their cards are at limit.  They are $142,710 in debt on their cards.  They sat down to make a budget, and managed to find $385 in cuts they could live with.

You’re the bank.  Do you give them another loan?

Add 8 zeros to each of the numbers above.  That’s our federal government.

But what about the remainder of Wasserman Schultz’ comments:

Yeah, what about that?

President Obama has submitted his budget proposal, and unsurprisingly it calls for an even bigger deficit and more spending! Fortunately, the GOP-controlled House is sending the Administration a message reminiscent of Tip-O’Neal’s “dead on arrival” response to Reagan’s austere budgets.

Obama is calling for a 3.5 Trillion dollar budget. Of that, more than $1.5 Trillion is deficit spending, meaning that for every dollar we spend, nearly 43 cents is new debt. Borrowed money which future generations must pay back, with interest!

Said another way, wherever we can afford $57, we spend $100!

The President claims his budget will cut $1.1 Trillion over the next decade. Even if that were true (and there’s no evidence to suggest that it is!) that is a cut of $110 Billion a year on a $3.5 Trillion budget with a $1.5 Trillion deficit! Correct me if I’m wrong, but that’s a reduction of the deficit by a factor of around 1/15!

Let’s apply that formula to something a little closer to home. Let’s suppose I’m spending $45,000 a year more than I make, and I’m half a million in debt.

Do you think my cutting $3000 a year from my spending habits would keep me from bankruptcy?? Of course not! But the Keynesians STILL believe that they can spend themselves into prosperity!

Keynesian tax-and-spend economics, the mainstay of Progressive economic policy for nearly 100 years, has been attractive to Socialist Utopian Academics… because it fits their narrative and agenda. When tested in the laboratory of REAL LIFE, however, their hypotheses fall flat time after time. The failed “Stimulus” of 2009 should have erased any vestige of doubt and put the final nail in the coffin of the Keynesian model. Keynes is to economics what the Flat Earthers were to Geo-Science!

The Left decries conservative proposals to cut the budget as “Draconian”… but pay attention to the numbers! Remember that a BILLION is 1000 MILLION, and a TRILLION is a MILLION MILLION!

Our current deficit is 1.5 Trillion. Obama is willing to cut 110 Billion!! But he says he has to raise taxes to do it!!

Congressman Ryan recently complained about not having a “baseline” for budgeting. May I suggest using the FY 2006 Budget as a starting point?

This was the last budget passed by a GOP congress before Pelosi/Reid took the reins of Congress and began spending us into oblivion, tripling the deficit every 2 years and raising our debt from 6 Trillion to 14 Trillion in 4 short years! In 2006 our deficit was only around $120 Billion… it’s currently almost 15 times larger! Why don’t we START with a BASELINE that undoes Pelosi/Reid spending?

In the 4 years that Pelosi/Reid were in power, our debt more than doubled. They increased our debt by 8 TRILLION in 4 years! When President Bush took office, our debt was only 4 (FOUR) Trillion dollars! After 6 years, the debt was increased by 50% to 6 Trillion, and Bush was roundly (and deservedly) criticized. In 2003 the deficit was around 420 Billion. This was after 9/11, the dot-com bubble burst, and the run-up and execution of the combat phase of 2 wars!

In 2003 Bush and the GOP Congress passed tax cuts, and consequently the deficit was reduced each of the following 3 years, so that when Pelosi/Reid took the reins, we were on track for a balanced budget in a year or two! When the GOP lost control of the house, they had reduced the deficit to 1/3 of the 2003 level – around 120 Billion.

It is now time to wake up and smell the coffee. We are 14 TRILLION in debt, so the INTEREST on that debt has more than doubled in 4 years. We are in a hole we may NEVER be able to climb out of… but certainly the first step MUST be to STOP DIGGING!

You will hear a lot of talk about “discretionary” spending. This encompasses our Military spending (both wartime operational expenses and the baseline expenses to maintain a standing military), as well as all other regulatory and operational costs of government. The sum total of our “discretionary” spending is around 1.2 or 1.3 Trillion dollars.

The remainder of our budget is the so-called “mandatory” spending. This is a misnomer. These expenses, with the exception of interest on the National Debt, are “ENTITLEMENTS”. Since the constitution neither mandates nor authorizes these “take from Peter to pay Paul” transfers of wealth, how can they be termed “Mandatory”? But I digress!

It is essential that we address the problem of entitlement spending. Congress must acknowledge that if we were to eliminate ALL discretionary spending and ONLY fund entitlements and interest on the debt, we’d still be left with a budget shortfall of around 250 BILLION DOLLARS!! Without operating a government AT ALL except to transfer money, we’d STILL be a quarter of a Trillion dollars deeper in the hole every year!

Before we can climb out, we must STOP DIGGING!! We must cut entitlements, significantly. Yes, there’s discretionary spending that can be trimmed. But again – cutting ALL discretionary spending won’t be enough to balance the budget. Entitlements MUST be addressed. It’s fiscal Armageddon if we don’t.

Back in the 1950’s, while still a lad in high School, I delivered a speech at the University of South Carolina. I don’t remember a great deal of what I said in that particular speech, but I remember I called notice to the dangers of socialism and communism — and the danger of an all powerful government they both demand.

I remember, too, that I mentioned how socialist governments, such as the one in the socialist Soviet Union used the power of the government to keep their citizens in check, in line, if you will. I mentioned how the secret police of the Soviet Union would come knocking at the doors of their citizen’s homes at the “dead hour” (3 AM), smash it in — and drag the would be dissident off to the Lubyanka Prison – and if he/she lived through the interrogation, would, quite likely, wind up in a gulag prison somewhere in the frigid climes of Siberia, there to work for the state while valiantly trying to remain alive.

Living in the socialist Soviet Union meant toeing the socialist line. One thing, which was never tolerated by the state, was disagreement with the state. If one dared to openly disagree with the government of that socialist country, you would be investigated, immediately, and fairly soon you would find yourself in the bowels of the Lubyanka Prison — or some other suitable site for “intensive interrogation” — then on to digging latrines in the frozen ground of Siberia.

So – what does this have to do with America today? I assure you it has more to do with the situation we Americans find ourselves in today than I care to dwell upon. But we will dwell upon it for a few moments.

Unfortunately, America finds herself on the threshold of just such a society ruled over by socialist thugs in charge of our government in Washington, DC.

We are all aware of the debate over the attempt to locate an Islamic Mosque, just 600 feet from the ghastly hole in the ground of New York City where the World Trade Center stood, until a handful of Muslims brought it down by crashing two loaded airliners into it killing nearly 3,000 innocent Americans including men, women and children.

Recently, the President of the United States announced, pointedly, and publicly, his support for the placement of that mosque so near the still tender scar on America’s soul.

An overwhelming majority of Americans have voiced their disapproval of that particular site for an Islamic mosque. Islam was the religion of those Muslims who hi-jacked those planes and deliberately flew them into the Twin Towers committing mass murder in the name of Islam. Some of the voices raised in disapproval are those of prominent citizens. They joined the protesting voices booming from the conservative side of the blogosphere including the voice of “yours truly.”

Just last week, the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, a democrat, suggested that those who disagreed with the placement of that mosque at Ground Zero should be investigated.

When I heard what the Speaker had said, my blood ran cold. This was exactly the same thing I had warned the audience about, back in the 1950’s, at the University of South Carolina. I was just a high school kid then, but I already, instinctively, knew way down deep, where I live, that socialism was a product designed and manufactured in Hell and marketed by Satan, himself. I knew then, as I know now, that socialism is nothing more than a pleasant looking façade for pure evil.

Speaker Pelosi’s suggestion that those who disagreed with President B. Hussein Obama’s position of support for the Ground Zero Mosque should be investigated is straight out of the socialist handbook. Never, ever, disagree with them! They will make every effort to destroy anyone with the temerity to disagree with their “statist” philosophy.

Speaker Pelosi’s suggestion to investigate those, like myself, who disagree with Obama, is just one link in the chain of socialist slavery with which the democrats are working, tirelessly, to shackle America. They are making it known they are coming after anyone who threatens their hold on power.

As the American Mainstream Media has voluntarily pledged their fealty to the socialist government of B. Hussein Obama, it is the conservative voice of the blogosphere that presents the most vociferous challenge to Obama, Pelosi, and Reed and the socialists in the American government. We have NOT escaped their notice and, rest assured, they are coming after us anyway they can.

The democrats have guided America into socialism and they are now very afraid Americans will turn on them and snatch the reins of power from them. They are in a state of near panic while the level of anger toward them, and what they have done to America since 2006, has risen to an explosive level. That explosion is set for detonation on November 2nd of this year – and the democrats know it.

Publicly, the democrats deny it, while privately they are sick at heart over their blow-hard, narcissistic, President who has not only embarrassed them, but may have led their mutual political party to near destruction.

Indications are that the democrats are just now coming to realize Americans are not ready for socialism on a par with the socialist states of Europe. They already knew that my generation of Americans would never willingly accept socialism without a fight. They also knew that my generation could be counted on to vote — at every election.

As our national leaders observe the quiet rebellion of its citizens exercising their constitutional right to assemble and petition the government for redress of their grievances — under the banner of the Tea Parties, they react outwardly in surprise and anger. That is their public reaction. Privately, they know the game is over and their over-reaching gamble to turn America from a constitutional republic to a socialist sewer has failed.

It is incumbent upon the American electorate to hammer the nails into the coffin lid of the Democratic Party’s attempt to “Fundamentally Reform” America into a “collectivist” socialist state. We can do that by going to the polls this coming November and voting as many democrats out of office as we possibly can — and voting against new Democratic Party candidates seeking office, as well. Doing so will insure they cannot perpetuate those socialist programs they managed to activate since 2006 –and that includes ObamaCare.

In addition, we must make absolutely clear that we insist the GOP, once bestowed with the power of leadership, defunds and repeals those socialist programs with which the democrats have yoked America.

The GOP must understand that if they try and fail, or if they refuse, America will be very unforgiving and will vote them out of office, as well. The stage will then be set for a thriving third party, which will replace one of the two major parties in existence today — just as the Republicans replaced the Whig Party in the 19th century.

As a young High School student in the 1950’s I intuitively knew this fight was coming. Now that it is here – we must not fail.

If you’ve ever heard the words in John 1:14 http://jbg-bible.net/English/Etude.htm (“The Word was made flesh, He lived among us, and we saw His Glory, the Glory that is His as the only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.”), you probably realize that in Christ and His true presence resides all that is or could ever be true.

I certainly understand the meaning of those words and oh how I pray that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi did. Now, I do not wish any evil upon her. But I am pointing out that to truly understand the meaning of those words and the fact that Christ is the Word of God is to affirm the very gifts of truth and life that He provides. This is something that I dare say has not yet dawned on Pelosi, or if it has, she has a very poor way of showing it.

Pelosi recently spoke to attendees at the Nation’s Catholic Community Conference http://cnsnews.com/news/article/66208 at Trinity Washington University about that Gospel passage: “Fill it in with anything you want. But, of course, we know it means: ‘The Word was made flesh and dwelt amongst us.’ And that’s the great mystery of our faith. He will come again. He will come again. So, we have to make sure we’re prepared to answer in this life, or otherwise, as to how we have measured up.”

Indeed, she is correct on that point. However, she then proceeded to explain that she is obliged to “give voice to what that means in terms of public policy that would be in keeping with the values of the Word.”

And that is where I personally had to sit down and catch my breath. It boggled my mind that a woman who has repeatedly advocated for abortion http://www.ontheissues.org/CA/Nancy_Pelosi_Abortion.htm and used the “Catholic” identity of a group of dissident nuns http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/65436 to push abortion as health care would still find it plausible to suggest that she is reflecting Christ and His truth in her policy choices. I dare say it is almost like listening to Satan himself tell us that black is white and up is down. Pelosi teaching that murdering a preborn baby is perfectly in keeping with Christ’s teaching is despicable and diabolical.

However, the Pelosi doctrine http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/05/06/pelosi-urges-catholic-church-play-major-role-immigration-overhaul/ requires, according to her, that she instruct the Church hierarchy about immigration reform. According to Democratic Party principles, immigration reform is a must for Catholics, she said. “The cardinals, the archbishops, the bishops that come to me and say, ‘We want you to pass immigration reform,’ and I said, ‘I want you to speak about it from the pulpit.’”

Even more problematic than Pelosi’s misguided pronouncements is the Catholic bishops’ silence about this travesty. As Pelosi continues to use her platform as House Speaker as her pulpit from which to preach heresy http://www.scborromeo.org/ccc/para/2089.htm, the bishops remain AWOL!

It is absolutely inconceivable that the same female who advocates abortion on demand could with a straight face express her heartfelt concern for immigrants, whether legal or illegal. How could anyone who really understands the meaning of “the Word made Flesh” be filled with such hypocrisy?

And where, oh where are those bishops? Why haven’t they made a clear, united statement about this woman, her pronouncements and her status as a Catholic?

As one very astute gentleman wrote in an e-mail:

More words of confusion from America’s first woman pope (Popest Nauseous Nancy I) who so far has instructed and continues to instruct the bishops, lets us and the world know that she is a Catholic in good standing (like Ted Kennedy), a role model for the rest of us … Don’t worry if you disagree with the Church big time. Heck, not to worry, go to Communion anyway as the bishops certainly are not looking and by the looks of it don’t seem to care.

I would like to think, in my naïve moments, that my friend is being rather cynical. But then again, when the more logical side of me considers the situation, I have to say he is perhaps, though sadly, correct. I wonder how many souls the Pelosi doctrine has affected, how many Catholic folks have fallen into her snare and how many more will follow in the future.

Pelosi is a dangerous woman, for preborn children, for truth and clearly for the Word. She has defiled the very Church she claims as her own.

When will the bishops make this clear? Or are they beholden to this anti-pope? You decide.

It’s really not that difficult to see why Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s repeated attempts to compromise the Church have not brought a resounding, united statement of outrage from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. After all, she used an errant group of nuns plus the Catholic Health Association’s own Sister Carol Keehan to her advantage in turning allegedly pro-life votes on to the draconian health care reform bill. http://culturecampaign.blogspot.com/2010/05/nancy-pelosi-thanks-god-for-nuns.html

ABC News was perhaps among the most colorful in a political briefing piece, writing http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/nuns-nancy-pelosi-rock-stars-progressive-catholics/story?id=10584299 ,

When Sister Carol Keehan arrives to speak at a “Washington Briefing” packed with progressive Catholics today, will the audience do back flips? In the final days of the contentious health care reform http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/HealthCare/ debates, Keehan, head of Catholic Health Association, and nearly 60 other nuns and leaders of religious orders found the legislation’s numerous anti-abortion funding provisions — provisions which did not satisfy the Catholic bishops — were indeed sufficient. They came out in favor of the bill, saying it was “life affirming” legislation. This gave pro-life legislators enough cover to allow them to vote for the bill.

The use of the term “progressive” is simply a nice way of saying heretical or demonic. It’s not that the nuns themselves are demons, but rather that they have fallen prey to the age-old temptation of following the world rather than the Lord. But, for the life of me, I have to ask: Why were their fanatical actions enabled by the bishops?

Search as I did to find a united statement of condemnation from the shepherds of the Catholics of this country, there was nothing to be found. One has to wonder what could possibly be so intimidating about the woman that the bishops would merely move on with their agenda without taking note of this remarkable redefining of Catholic identity by a public figure who, as far as we can tell, is still claiming to be Catholic.

It was clearly a crowning achievement in Pelosi’s campaign to deconstruct the teachings of the Catholic Church—making it a good thing to kill babies and a bad thing to defend Christ in the Holy Eucharist—and she pulled it off without a single reprimand or announcement of excommunication from her beloved bishops. What a travesty.

And then, she turned around and used the bishops again. Pelosi reportedly told a Catholic audience that she had instructed the bishops to speak from their pulpits about immigration reform because support for such reform http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/65513 “is a manifestation of our living the Gospels.”

When Jennifer Hartline of Catholic Online saw these remarks, she opined, quite accurately, in an “Open Letter to Nancy Pelosi, Master of Hypocrisy”: http://www.catholic.org/politics/story.php?id=36488

You stated with shocking audacity that “We have to respect that dignity and worth of the individual and recognize that the Church has an important role to play in that.” Your hypocrisy is simply staggering! You see no obligation to recognize the dignity and worth of the preborn child in the womb—only the dignity and worth of the post-born person who can applaud and cast a vote in your favor.

Where was your conviction that we must respect the dignity and worth of the individual when you insisted, “To me it isn’t even a question [of being a faithful Catholic while being pro-abortion].  God has given us free will.  We’re all responsible for our actions.  If you don’t want an abortion, you don’t believe in it, then don’t have one.  But don’t tell somebody else what they can do in terms of honoring their responsibilities.” http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2007/%0Amar/07030106.html (Newsweek magazine interview, Oct. 2006.) Funny. I never knew that honoring my responsibilities meant I could kill a baby. And I certainly never knew that it was a “choice” my Church and my God would support.

In case you’ve forgotten, here was Bishop Vasa’s reply to your errant statement: “It is categorically impossible for the same person to state that he or she believes simultaneously both what the Catholic Church teaches and that abortion is just a choice. Furthermore, it is an unjust choice which is diametrically opposed to the clear and consistent teaching of the Catholic Church as well as to the clear and consistent teaching of God Himself in the Ten Commandments. The direct, intentional taking of the life of an innocent human being is inhumane and unjust.  It is not just a choice!” http://amywelborn.typepad.com/openbook/2007/03/bishop_vasa_spe.html

The ongoing Pelosi pronouncements are mere aspects of the overall version of Pelosi cafeteria Catholicism. Or is it? In my diocese in California during the week before the final health care reform vote was to occur, the bishop required a reading at all Masses of his letter on why the nation needed to support immigration reform. Yes, that’s right. He did not press for further action to pressure Congress into stopping health care reform!

By that time, I guess the preborn babies and the imminent Stupak betrayal http://www.catholic.org/national/national_story.php?id=35984 were hardly worth talking about any more. After all, it’s just the nation’s most pro-abortion piece of legislation ever, but who cares? Onward with that “progressive” agenda!

This entire chapter in the watering down of Catholicism has left me with a very sour taste in my mouth and an ache in my heart. But when I realized that Father Tom Euteneuer had put this in perspective in his recent commentary, I gave a silent prayer of thanks. Writing about “The hostile spiritual takeover of our nation” http://catholicforum.fisheaters.com/index.php/topic,3429905.0.html , he says:

I am not saying that our public officials are demons. I am saying that they are acting like demons. Demons lie, cheat and steal – obsessively. It is their nature. Once the demons rejected God, they fell into a dark world devoid of love and dominated by the ethic of the survival of the fittest where “might is right”. The human beings that serve them act in much the same way when they implement their agendas and policies. Whenever they are in control of institutions or governments, they lie, cheat and steal. In their minds, they are right because they have the might – and to the victors go the spoils.

Father Euteneuer then reassures us of what we already know as faithful Catholics, even in these, the darkest hours of our nation’s history and the Church hierarchy’s identity crisis, when he writes,

In time, the proper spiritual leadership will emerge which will bind us together and form us into a fighting force called the Church Militant – the only spiritual force that can truly resist the hostile spiritual takeover of our nation. Let us not forget, however, that we must get down on our knees and beg, plead, and implore God to restore our once-great nation to its grandeur. We will not see the dawn of a renewed nation without prayer and sacrifice. The momentum of righteousness, consisting of all the humble goodness taking place at the grass-roots level of the Church and society, will eventually build, and we will take back our nation – not only at the ballot box but above all in the hearts and minds of all those who love God and are doing their best to love their neighbor. We will then be able to cast out the unclean spirits that are destroying everything that we hold sacred, and society will once again be governed by righteous men. For such an end we place our deepest hope in Christ, our true and only Savior!

Christ, our Lord and King, have mercy on us. Our Lady of Life, intercede for us.

Wednesday March 10, “House Rules Chairwoman Louise Slaughter is prepping to help usher the healthcare overhaul through the House and potentially avoid a direct vote on the Senate overhaul bill, the chairwoman said Tuesday.” Apparent is the disdain that our current “progressive” members of Congress are showing for the Constitution, which in Article 1 Section 7 clearly states the following, “Every bill which shall have passed the House of Representatives and the Senate, shall, before it become a law, be presented to the President of the United States.” Local Cochise County residents are questioning what this will mean, after all the Constitution is the very base of all legal and civic related formation in our country today.

While many Americans do agree that some oversight or even changes must occur with the current health care set-up it should be noted that the reasons it has not been able to pass so far is that only one side, the Obama/ Pelosi love affair has been unwilling to waver on various agendas. Republicans are willing to work with the Democrats as long as certain issues are dealt with such as state funded abortion and more. Obviously, there are issues with the current bill being pushed at this time, and for Libertarians like me those issues are not based in arguments regarding abortion or end of life agreements. No, we are far more interested in how the nation will be funding this.

In this case however, if this attempt by Slaughter is successful it will completely unravel the Constitution, someone should remind this Representative that she swore an oath to uphold the very Constitution she is now attempting to dismiss. In addition, while they are at it remind Obama who he works for and represents! This is yet another great example of why we must elect people who truly represent the active voting population, yet another reminder of why we need to get rid of the dead weight that is Congress and Senate today. It is time to elect true constitutionally bound representatives of the people. Remember if it smells like an old politician and it looks like an old politician than likely it is just an old politician!

If something as this is done it will be just a small step to a dictatorship after all what is it in this great Democratic Republic that keeps the government in its place and ensures the rights of the people? I hope that you answered this as I have the people, the Constitution, and a healthy dose of respect for the role you provide the people as their representative!

Where do I even start this morning? I woke earlier than usual and pulled up Memeorandum (aggregated news) to find what the chatter and fallout is this morning, surprise, surprise the left is in a tizzy with infighting, finger pointing, name calling, blame-pinning and all other kinds of goodies. In fact, there is so much of it I don’t even know where to start.

I am happy.

How about I just start out with Barney Frank, aka Bawney Fwank. Philip Klein in the Spectator has a transcription from MSNBC last night, Frank rattling off his feelings post election. Barney Shrugging?:

….But our respect for democratic procedures must rule out any effort to pass a health care bill as if the Massachusetts election had not happened. Going forward, I hope there will be a serious effort to change the Senate rule which means that 59 votes are not enough to pass major legislation, but those are the rules by which the health care bill was considered, and it would be wrong to change them in the middle of the process.

As Clifton says this morning, if Barney Frank is (potentially) throwing in the towel on Obamacare, how in the world can Pelosi scrounge up 218 Dems in the House that are willing to risk their necks? Note: I am reading that she is doing just that, more on that later. Moving on, how about this from Politico:

Republican Scott Brown’s upset win in Massachusetts Tuesday threatened to derail any hopes of passing a health reform bill this year, as the White House and Democratic leaders faced growing resistance from rank-and-file members to pressing ahead with a bill following the Bay State backlash.Democratic leaders insisted they planned to press ahead with health reform, and met late into Tuesday night in Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office. But they made no decisions about how to proceed

Senator Bayh (D: Indiana) is admitting what we all have known for a while, that the Democratic party has been hijacked by the far-left in this country and that Obama/Pelosi/Reid are the figureheads of just that. Massachusetts proved that (in the backlash) last night:

“The only we are able to govern successfully in this country,” Bayh warns, “is by liberals and progressives making common cause with independents and moderates. Whenever you have just the furthest left elements of the Dem party attempting to impose their will on the rest of the country — that’s not going to work too well.”

How about this in the Daily Beast, Mort Zuckerman writing something that I could have 10 months ago, that Obama is an ideologue leftist and has misjudged the entire country (in his socialist image), that a health care takeover in the midst of 10% unemployment is lunacy. Too little, too late, Zuck:

He’s misjudged the character of the country in his whole approach. There’s the saying, “It’s the economy, stupid.” He didn’t get it. He was determined somehow or other to adopt a whole new agenda. He didn’t address the main issue.This health-care plan is going to be a fiscal disaster for the country. Most of the country wanted to deal with costs, not expansion of coverage. This is going to raise costs dramatically.

In the campaign, he said he would change politics as usual. He did change them. It’s now worse than it was. I’ve now seen the kind of buying off of politicians that I’ve never seen before. It’s politically corrupt and it’s starting at the top. It’s revolting.

Reader C-Gen in NY also emailed me something particularly sweet. Sweet as in the tasty crocodile tears over at Newsweek today. C-Gen points out that Dems are blaming progressive PJ bloggers for the massive defeat and loss of Ted Kennedy’s seat (and this Newsweek article claims last night had nothing to do with the One)!

Good morning America, you are reaping the rewards of your follies! Every time you look in the mirror and hear that little voice repeating, “Thoughtcrime does not entail death. Thoughtcrime IS death.” Just remember there were those of us (like myself) that attempted to dissuade you and help you understand that being black alone was not a qualification for presidency. Let me remind you that I warned you about Pelosi and her self serving communist agendas, the same as those that have so scarred Russia and Cuba.

Those same agendas that allow her and her cronies to profit and benefit. While forcing us to bend over and take it. On Saturday November the 7^th of 2009 Nancy Pelosi and 220 cohorts passed legislation with the support of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, Rep. Raul Grijalva, Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, Rep. Harry Mitchell and Rep. Edward Pastor these were the defectors against the American people from Arizona alone. However, for you Arizona voters make sure you support the following supporters of your RIGHTS, Rep. Jeff Flake – oh wait that was it. I will say at this point watch what McCain and company do in Senate, I am willing to bet he wont even show up for the vote which will allow him to say that his “voting” record is still clean. Worse, he will vote FOR this bill.

Now without further ado here are sections of the bill that are entirely Un-Constitutional and reprehensible, it is truly time to call your “leaders” to account for their actions and stand trial for crimes against the people of this nation.

Sec. 202 (p. 91-92) of the bill requires you to enroll in a “qualified plan.” If you get your insurance at work, your employer will have a “grace period” to switch you to a “qualified plan,” meaning a plan designed by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. If you buy your own insurance, there is no grace period. You will have to enroll in a qualified plan as soon as any term in your contract changes, such as the co-pay, deductible or benefit.

Sec. 224 (p. 118) provides that 18 months after the bill becomes law, the Secretary of Health and Human Services will decide what a “qualified plan” covers and how much you will be legally required to pay for it. That’s like a banker telling you to sign the loan agreement now, then filling in the interest rate and repayment terms 18 months later

Sec. 303 (pp. 167-168) makes it clear that, although the “qualified plan” is not yet designed, it will be of the “one size fits all” variety. The bill claims to offer choice—basic, enhanced and premium levels—but the benefits are the same. Only the co-pays and deductibles differ. You will have to enroll in the same plan, whether the government is paying for it or you and your employer are footing the bill.

Sec. 59b (pp. 297-299) says that when you file your taxes, you must include proof that you are in a qualified plan. If not, you will be fined thousands of dollars. Illegal immigrants are exempt from this requirement

Sec. 1302 (pp. 672-692) moves Medicare from a fee-for-service payment system, in which patients choose which doctors to see and doctors are paid for each service they provide, toward what has called a “medical home.”

As you can see no one can deny that this bill is a travesty-, I do not wish to allow the government that works for ME, to attempt to tell me how to run my life. I do not wish that same government that is trillions in debt and owes China and other nations our children’s land and country for debts incurred bailing out frivolous and self-serving corporate interests to tell me what I must do regarding MY health. What are you as a true American willing to do; we must MARCH on Washington and show the Senators that they need to SHOOT this bill down immediately!

For the rest of you, move to China or Cuba but keep your self-serving Socialist, Communist politics out of my life!

Where are the “Grown-ups” IN the Obama Regime? I look around and I see emotionally immature people traipsing about in the West Wing of the White House with the blessing of the uno numero socialist in America, President Obama. Then I look up the Hill to the Congress and I see Harry Reid over in the Senate, and I see Nancy Pelosi over in the House of Representatives — and I shudder. I fear I am looking at “Dumb” and “Dumber.” It is frightening to realize that our country is in the hands of those three people: Obama, Reid, and Pelosi. You know what is even scarier? Pelosi is third in line for the Presidency should something, God forbid, happen to the President and the Vice-President.

There is a great deal of angst in the US these days. One can almost feel the tension in the air. Each day we awaken to another day of wondering what exactly the Obama regime is going to do today to strip more of our precious freedom away.

Already we have a Cap and Trade bill hanging over our heads. That bill alone is going to cost every American family mucho deniro in the years ahead as the government attempts to fight an enemy that doesn’t even exist. I am referring to global warming, or as the “environuts” are wont to say — “Climate Change.” The “Bailouts” have strapped a generation, or so, of Americans, even those yet unborn, with thousands of dollars of debt they must pay off in their lifetimes on this earth. I have read that the Obama Regime has saddled America with more debt in his ten months, or so, in office than all the previous US Presidents combined! Unemployment in America is now over nine percent and climbing. With fewer jobs there is less disposable income, less money in the marketplace, and that has affected Wall Street and stocks are all over the map. Investors are as nervous as a lady of ill repute in church!

Now, comes socialized medicine. The added cost to Americans is expected to be well over a trillion dollars in the first decade, and, frankly, we have serous doubts it will turn out to be that cheap. And regardless of what our esteemed senators and congresspersons are telling us it WILL affect the nations deficit and wreak even more havoc with what is left of our economy.

If there is any silver-lining, at all, to the dark clouds gathered over America these days, it is the very real possibility that in one year, if we can hang on, there is likely to be a political massacre of democrat politicians at the ballot box.

Even the liberal voters who flocked to the polls in 2008 to elect Obama are now having serious doubts about him and his policies.

I have noticed some of the more liberal journalists are bemoaning Obama’s failure to stand by his campaign promises, those promises especially favored by ultra-liberals, and, in fact, has continued a number of Bush’s policies and programs with what appears to be total disregard for the leftist dreams he has shattered along the way over the past ten months, or so.

Now, we are told, some in the White House are experiencing some trembling in the knees as Tuesday’s elections approach and their candidates are not making the “showing” they were expected to make against the more conservative candidates. In fact, The Obama Regime is admitting that at least a couple of races, they deem especially important to them, are likely to go to the opposition as their candidates go down in flames. One must ask: is this a precursor to coming attractions in 2012? Could be. But, 2012 is still a long way off and things change at a remarkable velocity in politics, especially national politics.

Dumb, dumber, and dumbest. Taking on Fox News was, probably the dumbest move yet. But, hey, that is what happens when people with power get cocky. They open themselves up to return fire.
I was in the US Army Artillery during my service in the military. One of the important lessons we learned — and it is a lesson readily applied to one’s life — is to always remember when the enemy is in range of your guns – YOU are in range of THEIRS! Somebody apparently forgot to tell the folks in the Obama Regime.

Americans have, at a minimum, three more years of wondering what we are going to be hit with next. Are we worried? You are “durn tootin” we’re worried — and with good reason. We still do not see a viable presidential candidate being groomed by the Republicans to run against Obama in 2012. Oh, yes! It is truly worrisome.
