Courage vs. cowardice

The great British statesman Sir Edmund Burke remarked: “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” During these perilous times in the Age of Obama, would to God that we had a few good men to combat his naked fascism, to stop his efforts to resurrect FDR’s welfare state, part 2. Here are four examples in which men chose expediency over principle:

Example No. 1

In September 2009, Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., yelled out, “You lie!” during President Obama’s State of the Union address. The incident came directly after Obama said, “There are also those who claim that our [universal health-care] reform effort will insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false. The reforms I’m proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally.”

Even though the entire country knew that Wilson was right and that Obama was planning to give a blanket amnesty to over 30 million illegal aliens by executive order, Wilson bowed to pressure even from his fellow Republicans and apologized to Obama.

Cowardice beats courage.

Example No. 2

Sen. Jim Bunning, R-Ky., held up a spending bill in early March until Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Majority Leader Harry Reid declared in writing where the money would come from to pay for the $10 billion in additional spending – meant to extend unemployment benefits and other programs.

Mr. Bunning courageously said, “If we can’t find $10 billion to pay for something we all support, we will never pay for anything on the floor of this U.S. Senate.” However, bowing to mounting pressure from Democrats, Republicans and the state-controlled media, Rep. Bunning relented and signed onto the unconstitutional spending bill.

Out of 535 members of Congress, one man stood up for America and then was intimidated by hundreds of political hacks who care little for constitutionalism in the budgetary process. No taxation without representation is dead!

Cowardice beats courage.

Example No. 3

Rep. Joe Barton, R-Texas, during a congressional hearing last week, referred to the fact that BP bosses summoned to a meeting with President Obama had then agreed to set up a $20 billion oil-spill disaster (slush) fund: “I’m ashamed of what happened in the White House yesterday,” Barton told BP CEO Tony Hayward. “I apologize. It is a tragedy of the first proportion that a private corporation can be subjected to what I would characterize as a shakedown, in this case, a $20 billion shakedown,” said the Texas representative.

His remarks about the fund, meant to pay for environmental and economic devastation from the worst ecological catastrophe in U.S. history, caused an immediate firestorm from the vice president, who said Barton’s comments were “outrageous and incredibly out of touch,” and White House press secretary Robert Gibbs, who castigated Barton for favoring big business above the devastated fishing communities.

However, at the National Public Radio website (a bastion of liberalism), Mike Weaver eloquently defended the constitutional separation-of-powers doctrine:

How interesting that [those who] cry out against the executive branch’s expansion of power are now criticizing what Barton said. If you read his entire comment, Barton correctly points out the role of the rule of law. How many of those speaking out against the executive branch’s overreach of power will complain when the executive branch directs the IRS to tax your carbon-footprint SUV?

Journalist Michael Barone echoes this constitutionalist view in “Obama’s thuggery is useless in fighting oil spill”: “But the Constitution does not command ‘no person … shall … be deprived of life, liberty or property, without due process of law except by the decision of a person as wise and capable as [Obama's pay czar] Kenneth Feinberg.’ The framers stopped at ‘due process of law.’”

When the GOP leadership threatened Rep. Barton with a loss of his chairmanship as a ranking member on the Energy and Commerce Committee, Barton quickly recanted his original comments in defense of free-market capitalism, private enterprise and constitutional separation of powers and cowed to socialist pressure.

Cowardice beats courage.

Example No. 4

Earlier this week, Gen. Stanley McChrystal, head of the U.S. and NATO Coalition Forces in Afghanistan. was forced to tender his resignation to Obama due to a blockbuster article in Rolling Stone magazine that supposedly claimed the general had uttered statements against President Obama, Vice President Biden (“bite me”), an ambassador and senior advisers, amounting to insubordination. Yet if one reads the article carefully, the general didn’t say one word against the president – then why did he have to resign?

Because our president is a thin-skinned narcissist who, because of some juvenile comments said in an atmosphere influenced by alcohol at a bar in private, forced a four-star general with over 37 years in the military to humiliate himself by being summoned to the White House from the Afghanistan theater – yet Obama purposely does nothing to stop the oil flowing into the Gulf of Mexico for nearly 70 days because he is scrupulously following the tactics of Saul Alinsky by using this catastrophe as a pretext to destroy and nationalize the private oil industry.

Cowardice beats courage.

Epilogue

Articles I, II and III of the U.S. Constitution outline the separation of powers of Congress, the Executive and the Judiciary, respectively. If the Obama administration and the Stalinist-controlled media are too obtuse to see any impropriety in politicians ordering private-sector executives about, upstaging the courts and threatening confiscation, as editors of The Economist recently queried, then the U.S. is no better than fascist dictatorships like Russia, China, Iran, Cuba or Venezuela.

“Courage vs. cowardice” has been the leitmotiv throughout the ages where few have seized the former and many have embraced the latter. Would to God America had real men of unshakeable principle to say, “Damn my career! Damn my pension! Damn my chairmanship!” and exercise the courage to do the right thing without equivocation or apology.

The New Phoenix Rises

There was a time in America, not so long ago, when we had white people, black people, brown people, yellow people, etc. We had men and women. We had healthy people and we had sick people and we had handicapped people.

We had smart people and we had dumb people. We had retarded people and we had normal people.

We had queers and homosexuals and but we had no gay and lesbian people.

We had truth and we had the lie.

We had people who loved America and people who hated America. There was no “in-between”.

We had Republicans and Democrats and no Independents. We had conservatives and liberals. We did not have moderates.

Well, what happened? Answer: World War Two!

“What’s World War Two got to do with it,” you may ask? Glad you asked. It has everything to do with the mess we find ourselves in here in America today.

Our US troops who fought in Europe, and were stationed there after the war, brought something back from Europe that was, up ‘til that time, alien to America. In those days it was called “Moral Relativism.” Simply defined it says there are no absolutes. There is no absolutely black and there is no absolutely white. There is no absolute truth and there is no absolute lie.

Now, this was like a bombshell going off in America. Those of religious faith saw it instantly for what it was. The GREAT LIE!

The pointy-head elites, in the northeastern states, and the university academia, saw instantly a way to cover all the things they wanted to do and say with cloak of moral relativism. And they took it up and reveled in it. They began to teach it to our kids. Then those kids became elementary and high schoolteachers themselves… and they, too, taught it to our kids and their kids.

It is not accidental that those on the left side of the political spectrum in America came so quickly to adopt Moral Relativism. You see… they WERE the university elite. Someone has said recently, it is now a part of the DNA of the political left and the Democrat Party.

Nowadays, Moral Relativism is known as Political Correctness. No matter what it is called it is still the most effective way to live a lie and sell that life style to others.

When I was a boy, America was referred to as a great Melting Pot. People from all over the world would come to America and melt right into the unique American society and culture. Sometimes it took one, or even two, generations to make the cycle complete but they worked at it. And it made America strong.

Then, the left came up with something called “Multiculturalism”. Basically, that is to say that any and all cultures are as good as ours. (When we had a unique American Culture. And for those of you too young to remember… we did have our own culture!) The breakdown of American society, and culture, began at that moment. The political left began to foist their plan to no longer have a single American culture but a vast array of cultures from all the peoples who had come here to ostensively become Americans.

It was kind of cute at first, the gay colors of the Hispanic peoples and their holidays… and the October fest of the Germans, and the Irish holidays, and the various other cultural celebrations of the host of other peoples in America. Then it became sinister. That unique American culture began to be absorbed into the multitude of other cultures. Now, for all intents and purposes, the American culture is gone. And with it went the identity of the American people.

And then came the icing on the cake: Diversity.

Ever since there has been marriage, a man and a woman deciding to live together and create a family… man has needed, from time to time, to get away from the little woman.

You have to understand, men are barbarians. We can’t help it, that’s the way Nature made us and we will never be house broken. Even in the pre-Columbian days of the Native Americans, on this continent, the tribes had their “Man’s House”. Even then, the men needed to get away. It’s not that the man loved or respected the woman any the less; he just needed to let the beast out for a while. He could not, and cannot, do that in a domesticated setting.

For a very long time, the work place served as the man’s retreat. Then the feminist movement came along and women decided they could have it all… including the heart attacks, ulcers, nervous breakdowns, alcoholism and everything that goes with the workplace, and they chose that over their families. The invasion on the man’s retreat was on and it was overwhelming.

The office known as “Personnel” was suddenly changed to “Human Resources” and diversity in the workplace was near complete.

But… not quite so in American society. The Military was next. Man’s last retreat from curtains and all forms of domesticity was invaded and defeated. Again In the name of diversity.

Now, diversity and multiculturalism feed off each other and they both feed off Political Correctness. How is that, you may ask?

Well, if we clear the fog of political correctness away for a brief moment, we can see that multiculturalism is bad for the country. It has robbed us of our identity. Diversity has robbed us of our homes and families… and robbed us of our places in society. Male and female have morphed into one sex now. And again, we have lost our identity. Even the forced injection of different races into each other’s cultures, in the name of diversity, has robbed all races of their distinct identity. So we come up with hyphenated names to try to identify who we are. But… it doesn’t work.

Why can’t we see this? Because Political Correctness has laid the cloak of the Big Lie over everything and we dare not question any of it because that would be… you guessed it… Politically Incorrect.

And so… we are lost. We don’t know who we are anymore, we don’t know where we are anymore, and we don’t even know how we got here.

So how can we change it? We can’t. You can’t unring a bell. You cannot re-institute virginity. We’re stuck!

The US has succumbed to that fatal disease which strikes all great nations and brings them their knees. Guilt.

I mean, heck, we can’t even fight a successful war anymore for fear that we will hurt the enemy. And we feel guilty for, well, something or other. The left will certainly fill in the blank for us.

Certainly we can take a tip from our founders, those 102 frightened, but determined, souls who left their country in search of a new beginning.

Like the Pilgrims we are going to have to leave and begin anew. Where, you may ask? Antarctica? Hardly. I would point in one direction. Straight up. Our destiny lies out there … among the stars.

Since government can’t afford to fund a colonization program, it will have to be private enterprise, which comes up with the money, the will, and the way. And do not kid yourselves; they are hard at work on plans for such a venture right now.

In the past 2 decades or so, I have become increasingly dissatisfied with the nearness of our horizons. We have become fat, lazy, and satisfied. The wanderlust is gone. The curiosity to learn what lies over the next hill has diminished. And THAT, Dear Reader, is a death sentence to any society. To paraphrase the scriptures “Without a vision, the people perish.” Our vision is gone.

Well that’s not ENTIRELY true. Some, among us, cling to the vision of spreading our collective wings and soaring into the universe. Some of us believe it is our destiny. And, as we look around us, some of us believe it is our salvation as well.

Rising from its own ashes like the mythological Phoenix bird, man will eventually have no choice left him. As our freedoms erode almost daily, it seems, the urge to break the bonds of an overpowering government fuel the desire to escape, to move on, and to seek a new home in the vastness of the last frontier where man can once again flourish in the restoration of the freedom he is being denied by overpowering governments such as the socialist government America is burdened with at the beginning of this 21st century. No matter what, Man will be free even if it requires leaving the only home he has known in search of distant lands, on distant worlds, in the immeasurable vastness of what we call Space.

As I observe more and more frustrated Americans opining how “they/we want our country back,” I also observed that more and more Americans have no clue what we are asking! THAT was, in itself, and epiphany, of sorts, for this scribe. You see, our young people in America have been denied their lessons in history, especially the history of this country, the United States of America. And, yes, they ARE doomed to repeat the “mistakes of the past” and, equally as unfortunate, they are doomed to make new and event worse mistakes as a result of their ignorance of our sometimes tortured past as well as our sometimes glorious past.

I remembered that I had written about this a while ago and decided to look it up.

As I was reading over my ancient scribbling it occurred to me that not much had changed — if anything. It also occurred to me that now, right now, as our beloved nation is tearing itself apart trying to find a majority of Americans to either swing America completely over to socialism, which is the first step to national communism, or remain a representative republic, it might be a fairly good idea to re-publish my words of long ago.

So, I brushed off some of the cobwebs and dusted it off, a bit, and I present them now, with some updating for your edification.

First allow me to mention the following: I find nothing quite so repulsive as those who feel WE are the enemy of America. “We” being those of us who want our country back. It is THEY who demonstrate their own blinding ignorance of this country’s sacrifice to gain and maintain the freedoms granted us under the constitution as a representative republic. It is THEY who are ignorant of the blood sacrifice shed on the alter of freedom to preserve the constitution under which they are allowed the freedom to slander the very America that gave them the freedom they enjoy as a birthright. It is they who damage our beloved nation once described by one of America’s greatest presidents, Ronald Reagan, as a “Shining City on a Hill.”

Many Americans fell for one of the oldest political “come-ons” in history offered by one of the least qualified candidates for president this nation has ever had the misfortune to have offered it by a political party which has adopted so much of the socialist platform they are almost indistinguishable from those who openly claim their socialist beliefs. They feel for “C H A N G E .”

Change is not always good. Change for the sake of change is almost always BAD. And yet that is what put the current occupant of the presidency in the Oval Office as America’s President and the Commander – in-Chief of the US Armed forces.

So – how did we arrive, as a nation, at this pitiable juncture which, I sincerely hope will go doen in the future history books as an anomaly?

I think the words below may shed some light on how such a thing can happen to a nation, any nation, even one so blessed by Providence.

– — – — – — – — – — –

There was a time in America, not so long ago, when we had white people, black people, brown people, yellow people, etc. We had men and women. We had healthy people and we had sick people and we had handicapped people.

We had smart people and we had dumb people. We had retarded people and we had normal people.

We had queers and homosexuals and but we had no gay and lesbian people.

We had the truth and we had the lie.

We had people who loved America and people who hated America. There was no “in-between.”

We had Republicans and Democrats and no Independents. We had conservatives and liberals. We did not have moderates.

Well, what happened? Answer: World War Two!

What’s World War Two got to do with it, you may ask? Glad you asked. It has everything to do with the mess in which we find ourselves in America today.

Now — this was like a bombshell going off in America. Those of religious faith saw it instantly for what it was. The GREAT LIE!

The pointy-head elites, all over the country, especially those of university academia, saw instantly a way to cover all the things they wanted to do and say with the cloak of moral relativism. And they took it up and reveled in it. They began to teach it to our kids. Then those kids became elementary and high schoolteachers themselves… and they, too, taught it to our kids and, their kids.

Then, the left came up with something called “Multiculturalism.” Basically, that is to say any and all cultures are as good as ours.

Ever since there has been the institution of marriage, a man and a woman deciding to live together and create a family… man has needed to get away from the little woman.

You have to understand, men are barbarians. We can’t help it, that’s the way Nature made us and we will never be house broken. Even in the pre-Columbian days of the Native Americans on this continent the tribes had their “Man’s House”. Even then, the men needed to get away. It’s not that the man loved or respected the woman any the less; he just needed to let the beast out for a while. He could not, and cannot, do that in a domesticated setting.

For a very long time, the work place served as the man’s retreat. Then the feminist movement came along and women decided they could have it all… including the heart attacks, ulcers, nervous breakdowns, alcoholism, infidelity to their spouse, and everything that goes with the workplace, and they chose that over their families! The invasion into the man’s retreat was on and it was overwhelming.

Well, if we clear the fog of political correctness away for a brief moment, we can clearly see that multiculturalism is bad for the country. It has robbed us of our identity. Diversity has robbed us of our homes and families… and robbed us of our places in society. Male and female have morphed into one sex now. And again, we have lost our gender identity. Even the forced injection of different races into each other’s cultures, in the name of diversity, has robbed ALL races of their distinct identity. So we came up with hyphenated names to try to identify who we are. But… it doesn’t work. Not really.

You cannot re-instate virginity.

The Thanksgiving season in America is only a couple of months away. Certainly we can take a tip from our founders, those 102 frightened, but determined, souls who left their country in search of a new beginning.

Like the Pilgrims we are going to have to leave and begin anew. Where, you may ask? Antarctica? Hardly. I would point in one direction. Straight up. I firmly our destiny lies out there … among the stars.

Since government can’t afford to fund a colonization program, it will have to be private enterprise, which comes up with the money, the will, and the way. And do not kid yourselves; my guess is — they are hard at work on plans for such a venture right now.

In the past 2 decades or so, I have become increasingly dissatisfied with the nearness of our horizons. We have become fat, lazy, and satisfied. Our wanderlust is gone. The curiosity to learn what lies over the next hill has diminished. And THAT, Dear Reader, is a death sentence to any society. To paraphrase the scriptures “Without a vision, the people perish.” OUR vision is gone.

Well, that’s not ENTIRELY true. Some, among us, cling to the vision of spreading our collective wings and soaring into the universe. Some of us believe it is our destiny. And, as we look around us, some of us believe it is our salvation as well.

Cass Sunstein: Regulating America to death

Animals should be allowed to sue their owners.

~ Cass Sunstein

Because people ascribe a degree of respectability to academics, intellectuals, philosophers and scholars, they can disregard the rights of the people much easier than a naked tyrant. In fact, Rousseau, Darwin and Nietzsche can go places Hitler, Stalin, Chavez and Obama could never dream.

As I have written many times, the Obama administration are the masters of misdirection and chaos theory; therefore, while the America people last week were transfixed on the resignation of “Green Czar” Van Jones, another even more dangerous fascist from the academy quietly slipped through the portals of power.

Last Thursday Cass Sunstein, a former colleague and mentor of Obama’s at the University of Chicago Law School, was confirmed by a Senate vote of 57-40 as the new director of regulatory affairs and information, an obscure but powerful agency within the Office of Management and Budget. Here is what the “regulatory czar” does: He regulates laws – past, present and future.

Sunstein is a friendly fascist who only “nudges” people to bow to his will. TV host Glenn Beck says of Cass Sunstein that he is “the most powerful invisible man you’ll ever see.”

Judge Richard A. Posner, an intellectual mentor of mine and former colleague with Sunstein and Obama at the University of Chicago Law School, said the following about Peter Singer, a Princeton professor and a leading scholar on animal rights with whom Sunstein is often associated:

Since the publication of “Animal Liberation” [1975], Singer has received a wide range of philosophical challenges to his formulation of animal rights. … Richard Posner challenged that Singer failed to see the “radicalism of the ethical vision that powers [his] view on animals, an ethical vision that finds greater value in a healthy pig than in a profoundly retarded child, that commands inflicting a lesser pain on a human being to avert a greater pain to a dog, and that, provided only that a chimpanzee has 1 percent of the mental ability of a normal human being, would require the sacrifice of the human being to save 101 chimpanzees.

While Sunstein spent his entire career inventing rights for rats, dogs and pigs that would make the Constitution’s framers spin in their graves, he is even more despicable in casting aspersions against constitutional rights plainly delineated in the Bill of Rights. For example, here is Sunstein views on the Second Amendment right to bear arms: “My coming view is that the individual right to bear arms reflects the success of an extremely aggressive and resourceful social movement and has much less to do with good standard legal arguments than [it] appears.”

In 2008 Sunstein co-authored “Nudge: Improving Decisions about Health, Wealth, and Happiness” with economist Richard Thaler of the University of Chicago. “Nudge” discusses how public and private organizations can “help people to make better choices in their daily lives” since apparently Sunstein and his busybody socialist colleagues of the academy think that We the People are too stupid to live our own lives our own way and accept the consequences. Thaler and Sunstein argue that:

People often make poor choices – and look back at them with bafflement! We do this because as human beings, we all are susceptible to a wide array of routine biases that can lead to an equally wide array of embarrassing blunders in education, personal finance, health care, mortgages and credit cards, happiness, and even the planet itself.

Space will not allow me to adequately detail the utter tyranny and naked assault on our constitutional rights Sunstein plans to launch against American capitalism in his new role as regulatory czar. Here is a summary of the autocracy Americans can expect from Czar Sunstein:

Sunstein advocates a “Second Bill of Rights” even more totalizing and all-consuming than initially proposed by Franklin D. Roosevelt’s “New Deal” in the 1930s. Among these rights are a right to an education, a right to a home, a right to health care and a right to protection against monopolies.

Sunstein notes that personhood need not be conferred upon an animal in order to grant it legal standing for suit.

Sunstein has argued that “we should celebrate tax day.”

Rumor has it that Obama is grooming Sunstein as a future Supreme Court justice. Last week Fox News legal analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano said, “[Sunstein] is to the left of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.”

The leitmotiv of Sunstein’s entire legal philosophy and worldview is encapsulated in two very evil and failed philosophies of the past: 1) Social Darwinism [evolution], and 2) Moral Relativism – a theory, especially in ethics or aesthetics, that conceptions of truth and moral values are not absolute but are relative to the persons or groups holding them. In other words, nothing has more intrinsic value than anything else. Sunstein’s ideas on judicial minimalism and behavioral economics belie the fact that for almost 30 years he has assaulted the Judeo-Christian traditions of Natural Law so venerated by the Constitution’s framers to preserve America’s republic.

To Sunstein ideas like “truth,” “morality,” “liberty,” “freedom” and “Natural Law” are irrelevant and counterproductive to his grand, socialist view of law rooted in moral relativism and social Darwinism. That’s how Sunstein can have a scholarship named after his dead dog while concurrently mandating environmental policies that will put tens of thousands of American farmers out of business by fostering ever expanding environmental, land and water regulations that will de facto make farming too cost-prohibitive.

What Mussolini, Stalin and Mao did in the light to harm their citizens and deny them their fundamental human rights, Cass Sunstein, as Obama’s regulatory czar, will do in the night by slowly, irrevocably regulating America to death. Sunstein reminds me of Shakespeare’s “Othello” when the sinister Iago repeatedly whispered his verbal venom into the receptive ear of Othello (Obama), which lead to his demise. Indeed, Sunstein said it best: “There is no liberty without dependency.”

——————————————————
