A Weather Newsgasm
The incessant “news” coverage reflects the way television (and print) news professionals tend to regard viewers as too stupid to make decisions as basic as preparing for the hurricane or evacuating before its arrival, nor do they just report the news, i.e., the facts. So far as Irene was concerned, they engaged in massive speculation and endless predictions.
Spreading “Big Oil subsidy” disinformation
Every American manufacturing company gets tax deductions that help it create jobs and strengthen our economy – whether it produces newspapers, furniture, cars or fuel. Eliminating those deductions would increase unemployment and further slow our nation’s desperately needed economic recovery.
A New Media Slant Detector
The ongoing debt crisis offers two examples of how liberal media preoccupations distort coverage. First, let’s eavesdrop on how a family cuts their budget. Mary is worried about credit card debt and wants John to reduce the $250 a month he spends on lunch at Hooters, so they can increase the monthly payment to Indentur–card. John recognizes the problem and agrees to a 20 percent cut. Next month he’ll spend $200, a $50 reduction.
Democrats Going After Fox News? You Bet!
Americans are afraid the government is screening their e-mail. Americans fear their cell phones are being “tapped” or “hacked” by the DOJ. Americans find themselves whispering when saying anything derogatory about the Obama administration. Americans feel, for the first time, that gnawing feeling of fear and paranoia about their own government, which has the DOJ acting as some sort of “state police.”
Sunday with Jonathan Schwartz
By Nicholas Stix
Jonathan Schwartz is a New York radio legend. I remember cutting school one day when I was about 15, sneaking back home, and lying on my bed, listening to him play Sinatra on old WNEW-AM. Seeing as later this month I’ll be celebrating my annual 21st birthday, that would have been about … six years ago. In those days, he would work weekdays and Saturdays at WNEW-AM, playing Frank, Ella, & Co
All the News That’s Good for You
One of the reasons newspaper circulation and TV news ratings are falling is because people no longer trust journalists. They are tired of being mislead as reporters select and distort news coverage to conform to the media’s ideology.
Guns Don’t Kill People, Rhetoric Kills People
I’m a very chastened conservative this week. In looking over last year’s columns I find I’ve used the words: jewelry, sneeze, impatient and grab. By my calculations — assisted by Chris Matthews and those helpful people at MSNBC — I’m responsible for one burglary, a swine flue scare, two fire–zone parking violations and a groping on the Metro.
The Obama Nag, Body Armor Disparities, Dobsonian Maoists
The government is deploying X-ray vans to gather intelligence of motorists. The stated purpose is to find contraband such as weapons, narcotics, and human smuggling. But given the Obamas’ propensity to control every aspect of your existence, what is to prevent them from determining what kinds of foods you are purchasing at the supermarket?
Twisted Perspectives On Religious Freedom
The media is up in arms over a mosque that is, to many Americans, an offense to every family affected by the tragedy of September 11, 2001. But the same media is eerily silent when Catholic health care institutions, Catholic educational facilities and other such entities are roundly discriminated against by pro-death government policies.
Beware Analysts Worried About the GOP
When GOP voters don’t follow the sound advice of their betters and choose a “moderate,” it causes consternation in mainstream media newsrooms and usually results in helpful suggestions as to how Republicans can be more successful winning votes among members of the media and qualify for invitations to the really cool cocktail parties.
Mainstream Media Nightmare: Sarah Palin
Battalions of reporters and investigators are pouring over her book looking for errors or, well, anything that could be construed as less than truthful in their never ending campaign to belittle her, and diminish her standing among conservative and independent voters in America.
