If the US Constitution was still in effect, was still an operational document, was still the law of the land, then the Transportation Security Administration would be in very deep trouble today. However, as we have all come to know all too well, the constitution is all but totally ignored today, especially under the administration of the Obama Regime.

When Obama was sworn in, the constitution was considered, found to be inconvenient for his socialist agenda, and ignored.

The latest blatant violation of the US Constitution was the much-publicized “detainment” of Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky — while he was enroute to Washington, DC to exercise his duties in the US Senate. That “detainment” was totally unconstitutional … period.

You see, Senators and Representatives cannot be arrested for a crime, except for treason, felony, or breach of peace, while meeting in Congress or while traveling to or from a meeting of Congress.

If Senator Paul was detained, then he was arrested. Consider this: “(v) Arrest is the action by which a person is stopped from his normal activities by virtue of a legal authority or sanction, either by detaining him or by stopping his external accesses.” (SOURCE)

Article 1, Section 6 … US Constitution:

1:  The Senators and Representatives shall receive a Compensation for their Services, to be ascertained by Law, and paid out of the Treasury of the United States.⁶ They shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place.

Now, THAT’S the wording from the text of the US Constitution … the law of the land.

I do not particularly agree with that portion of the US law, but it DOESN’T MATTER. It is THE LAW! Until such time as there is an amendment to the constitution affecting Article one, Section six to change or remove those few words, it remains the law of the United States.

There has been much bloviating in the press and in the blogosphere since the incident happened. So I don’t expect my opinion to make much difference, at all.

However, on the outside chance that you might care, allow me, please, to point out, once again, that our government, as it is currently constituted, is NOT following the law of the land. We have, in my opinion, a rogue government in place in Washington, DC.

The Transportation Security Administration is just another government agency out of control. It is a power hungry bully; full of itself, and — in the real world — it does more to restrict freedom of movement in this country than it does to ensure it.

On the TSA’s website they say: “We are 50,000 security officers, inspectors, directors, air marshals and managers who protect the nation’s transportation systems so you and your family can travel safely.” (SOURCE) I dare say the “volk” of the Gestapo, in 1930’s Germany, thought of themselves in much the same manner.

I have been offering commentaries for decades and there has been a common thread running through the millions of words of opinion I have shared. It is this: We Americans are voluntarily giving up our freedom.

Have you noticed how we whine and complain when the Congress is tied up in knots and unable to legislate? We seem to have forgotten that to legislate is to pass laws.

Every time a law is passed some of us lose a little bit more of our freedom. Eventually, ALL of us lose small portions of our freedom, until one day, we finally stop and take stock of our current liberties — and we find we are in deficit. Our freedom is gone and we are in hock to the government.

It seems to me that pretty much sums up our current situation.

Freedom, once lost, is almost impossible to reclaim. Much like an ocean liner,  it takes a very long time to stop a government with the momentum of the US government.

Back in 2010 we sent a new batch of conservatives Senators and Congresspersons to Congress with a clear mission to bring the Congress to a halt and keep it static until the Obama Regime could be ended in November — and we could gain control of enough of the national legislature to begin the process of returning sanity to our government.

Both the left and right wings of the American political spectrum have reviled them. Even so, they have done a fair job at slowing the Congress down.

Somehow, Americans have lost their love of the freedom and liberty for which our forefathers gave their lives and fortunes.

Now, if you think I am being overly dramatic here, I ask you to look again at what a government agency did to a US Senator and ask yourself, if they can do that to one of the most powerful men in the country, WHAT can they do to me?

With eyes of the world focused on South Carolina this last week before the primary election on Saturday, January 21^st, we felt now would be a good time to offer some insight into the people of my home state and the “Southern People” as a whole.

Every four years, I offer my little primer as an introduction and a navigation aid to those who suddenly find themselves about to be immersed in southern culture for the first time.

If you are representing the mainstream media, and this is your first visit to my country, prepare for a culture shock.

The southern people are distinctively different from the folks “up north.” The South was settled primarily by Scott-Irish with a smattering of Germans in the Mid-Atlantic area, as well as French Huguenots, and some Spanish along our coast. Our heritage IS very different.

You don’t hear it spoken of much anymore, but there still exists a “Code of the South.” No, it is NOT a myth.

You can sum it up in one word. “HONOR”. We cherish honor above everything else. Without honor, all that remains has no value.

Southerners believe each man and woman has a duty, a responsibility, to seek nobility in life and in purpose. No matter his, or her, station in life, or the social strata he, or she, was born into. There is nobility in fighting the good fight, on your job, on the field of battle, at anything you turn your hand to do.

Southerners believe we were, indeed, created in the image of God. We have a duty to uphold that image as best we can. It is a continuous battle against the trials of life, but to shirk one’s duty, in this respect, is unforgivable. It is dishonorable.

We are a culture apart. We like it that way. We have no intention of changing. To do so would be to dishonor all those who have gone before us as well as their creation of this sanctified, set apart, land. “The South” is to Southerners what the Holy Land is to the Jewish people.

Never question the honor of a Southerner. It is considered a challenge and your challenge WILL be answered.

A Southerner will go to the wall to defend honor. No matter the size of the opponent, no matter the place, or the time. Honor will be defended.

There is an inviolate line, which must never be crossed. Where does that line lie? Everywhere. For instance, you do not disparage our women. That is at the top of the list of inviolate things. Others include: our homes, our friends, our religion, our military abilities, and you surely do not speak disparagingly about our ancestors. To violate any of these will bring the wrath of the South down on your head in an instant.

You may have noticed Southerners do not back down. We refuse to accept defeat.

We are accused, often, of still fighting the War Between the States. That is true. We consider this era of forced quietude only half time between us and the North. We have never laid the war down. To quit, to surrender, is not acceptable in our code of honor. So, we fight on. Understand… we will win. It may take another hundred, or even two hundred, years, but we will prevail. We never forget, and we never quit.

It has been said that Southerners are America’s true “Warrior Class.” Consider the great warriors of America. For the most part, they were/are Southerners.

War comes naturally to Southerners. The Scot-Irish-German blood flowing in our veins and the Southern Code of Chivalry we learn from birth creates the most fearsome warrior on the face of the earth.

The true Southerner is a gentleman, or lady, always. Well, right up ‘til he takes your head off. He will knock you down then offer his hand to lift you back to your feet. If you make the same mistake again, you will find yourself in need of that helping hand to get you off your backside … again.

Southerners are deeply religious people. We unashamedly believe in God. We believe the Bible is His Holy Word. At the same time we know one cannot be perfect, but we believe every Southerner is born into this world with the obligation to strive for perfection. Anything less is totally unacceptable. It has been said this is the Southern interpretation of the European “Noblise Oblige.” Southerners know in the depths of their being they have an obligation to strive for nobility.

The Southern society is not a classless society. We acknowledge our society has an upper, middle, and a lower class. But we believe the obligation to nobility crosses those boundaries and emboldens even the least of us to carry the honor of his name, and his family’s heritage, without stain. Anything less is unacceptable.

Yes, you WILL see the Confederate Battle Flag snapping in the pine-scented southern breeze. Get used to it. It is flown in honor of our heritage – and—as a warning that the people of The South will not suffer tyranny from ANY quarter.

There exists a divide between the Northern People and the Southern People in this nation. The divide is vast and unnavigable. We are two different peoples held together by law. The bayonet enforced the bondage of the Southern peoples. We have not forgotten. Nor will we. We know these bonds are only temporary. We work tirelessly for the day we will once again be ruled only by God and voice of the Southern people.

Tis honor, above all else. It is our code. It is written on our hearts.

So — I hope this little primer on “The South” is helpful to you media types and political apparatchiks. Remember, always: You are visitors in our home and we expect you respect our hospitality and generosity and do not besmirch what you most certainly do not understand.

And finally, if we like you, you will be sent on your way with the now world-famous: “Y’all come back – ya hear?”

The last two months of 2011 saw Americans buying guns in record numbers. December 23^rd saw more guns bought in one day that ever before. It set a record.

In an article at “The Telegraph,” a British News site, entitled: “Americans buy record numbers of guns for Christmas,” Nick Allen writes: “According to the FBI, over 1.5 million background checks on customers were requested by gun dealers to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System in December. Nearly 500,000 of those were in the six days before Christmas.

It was the highest number ever in a single month, surpassing the previous record set in November.

On Dec 23 alone there were 102,222 background checks, making it the second busiest single day for buying guns in history.

The actual number of guns bought may have been even higher if individual customers took home more than one each.” (SOURCE)

Mr. Allen goes on to say: “Explanations for America’s surge in gun buying include that it is a response to the stalled economy with people fearing crime waves. Another theory is that buyers are rushing to gun shops because they believe tighter firearms laws will be introduced in the future.” (SOURCE)

To be sure BOTH the explanations mentioned above are valid — but there’s more to it that that.

Back in January of 2009, in an article entitled: “Americans Are Arming Themselves. Why?” I wrote the following: “The popular explanation is that Americans are afraid of what this socialist Congress and president will do to deprive Americans of their constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

Well, that is CERTAINLY a PART of it, but I think there is more, much more, and a far more serious explanation… and, I am convinced the government believes as I do.

See, I think the American people are preparing themselves to go toe to toe with their government. I believe the American people are making a statement. That statement is: “This Far and No Farther!” In other words, “We are going to give you socialists a chance. But, if you step over the line, if you attempt to deprive us of our constitutional right to keep and bear arms, we will not tolerate that.”

Some of us older Americans remember what happened when the socialist took over in Russia in 1917. It is NOT going to be allowed to happen here.

I think it is meant to counter the act of the Bush, and soon, Obama Administrations of bringing combat troops back to The States and stationing them here, on US soil, reportedly for population control in the event of “social unrest” or massive acts of “civil disorder or disobedience” keyed by any number of things including the economy going through the floor, or, well, I’ll let your imagination fill in the blank, because, frankly, the subject is so delicate, I don’t even want to touch it! 

I have concluded, rightly or wrongly, that Americans are sending a signal to their government. That signal is: “We won’t be bullied. There will be a price to pay if you dare step over the line.”  Congress and the President had better pay attention.  It is low profile stuff at the moment, but it can get very big, very fast. And… it is VERY dangerous!” (SOURCE)

Our overseas cousins have great difficulty understanding American’s love of the gun. But it really IS quite simple. You see — America was born at the muzzle of a gun. We won our freedom at the muzzle of a gun. We expanded our country from the Atlantic to the Pacific at the muzzle of a gun. We fought our own war over state’s rights at the muzzle of a gun. We preserved our freedom by defeating the Japanese and the Germans at the muzzle of a gun and we have assisted a number of countries to maintain, or regain, their freedom at the muzzle of a gun. Even now, as I write, the US military is patrolling the waters of the Persian Gulf to protect the transport of approximately 40% of the world’s oil and ensure it’s passage through the Straits of Hormuz — at the muzzle of our big naval guns, and we continue an attempt to salvage Afghanistan and drag it into the 21^st century by fighting off religious fanatics — at the muzzle of a gun.

Americans understand the importance of the ability of every man to defend himself, his family, and his freedom. We also understand the importance of assisting our global neighbors in defending their freedom — for the loss of their freedom brings the threat one step closer to our shores.

Americans have a scared duty to halt the encroachment of domestic tyranny. Freedom is our birthright and we WILL defend it.

Many Americans are deeply concerned over the state of the world today. We remember what happened in the 1930’s when the world found itself in similar circumstances to today. It led to a world war.

Then, too, there is this: We rather like the rogue nations, the terrorists, the tyrants, and tin-pot dictators to know that the American public is armed to the teeth, ready, and willing to defend our country should they, through some mental aberration, have designs on it. The LAST thing you want to confront is a PO’ed American with a gun!

Oh, … and we like to hunt, too.

The world has come to an intersection and is now rolling down a new highway. Major changes are in progress:

The Occupy Wall Street (OWS) movement sprang up almost magically as an agent of impending change.

Mary Gabriel, author of the Karl Marx biography “Love and Capital” points to a renewed interest in Karl Marx and the similarity of his era to ours. She cites the industrial revolution as the engine for change in his era and the electronic age in ours.

South Korean economist, Dr. Ha-Joon Chang, a graduate and associate at Cambridge University, wades into the economic foray with terrible diction but a fresh approach.

The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (Acorn), a far left, government financed, change agent, is a source of support for OWS and was previously a domicile for President Obama. Acorn seeks a Red tinted change.

Pregnant with power Harvard Professor Elizabeth Warren is running for the Senate in 2012. New York Times writer Jeff Madrick said of her book “The Two Income Trap”, ”The upshot is that two-income families often have even less income left over today than did an equivalent single-income family 30 years ago, even when they make almost twice as much.” Hear here.

The World Bank writes about change as if it is a natural evolutionary process but the dethroning of the United States of America and the theft of the wealth of its citizens has been planned and executed over a period of several decades by stealth and treachery. The exact source remains opaque but the results are clearly visible. Elections have not had nor will they have any effect on the process which proceeds inexorably regardless of political party.

All efforts to stop this evil plan will fail. Even with the mass resistance to the coddling of illegal aliens we have lost the State of California and citizens across the country remain harnessed to supporting foreigners who are breaking our laws and are intent on overthrowing our government. If we cannot solve the immigration problem how can we expect to be successful against the mysterious progress of world government?

We are fighting a powerful, invisible enemy with the useless weapons of a shredded Constitution and loud complaints. We listen to the interminable remedial rhetoric of political candidates which seems to provide solutions but when the candidate is elected the promises are forgotten and the office holder quickly cow tows to the mysterious powers that seek to destroy us. It has been repeated over and over again with the same results. In this video Adam Kokesh interviews a warmongering woman who when confronted with the truth simply walks away. She, like most Americans, cannot and will not hear the truth! This serious malady is rampant at the bottom and at the top.

Kevin Barrett interviews columnist and former presidential candidate, Pat Buchanan, confronting him with serious questions about 9/11 (Near the end). Buchanan stubbornly refuses to consider either the thought or the evidence.

Someone recently sent me this beautiful rendition of the Battle Hymn of the Republic. It is a beautiful song but it is also pure propaganda. Our Triune Christian God supports neither illegal wars nor the armies that carry them out. The mass murder of millions of human beings created in His image is an unimaginable abomination.

The Daily Bell recently published an article that referred to the injustices (Genocide) done to the American Indians. Christians assume that God’s blessing is detached from behavior and like the Pharisees arrogantly cling to their erroneous assumptions. With pompous righteousness we decorate the bumpers of our cars with stickers that read “God Bless America” falsely assuming that He will bless us on demand without regard for our behavior.

There are demonstrations going on around the world, Egypt, Syria, Greece, and now in the United States. The demonstrations may bring a change in government but the change will be toward consolidation of power, not toward freedom. Greece has installed a new government that will consolidate power and bring Greece back in the European Union.

The OWS demonstrations here in the United States are ostensibly leaderless but if these demonstrations continue order will come through a tyrannical consolidation of conspiratorial power.

The viable candidates for president of the United States are already bought and paid for. It makes no difference whether Obama is re-elected or Gingrich or Romney is successful, the loss of freedom and the destruction of our nation will continue unabated. Complaints that the Constitution is being ignored will continue to fall on deaf ears. New travesties will constantly appear. We will complain but our complaints will be ignored.

Though you will not like it and may not be able to hear it let the ancient prophet Jeremiah tell you why we are losing our freedom and our nation is being destroyed. “O Lord do not Thine eyes look for truth? Thou has smitten them, but they did not weaken; Thou hast consumed them, but they refused to take correction. They have made their faces harder than rock; they have refused to repent.” Jeremiah chapter 5 verse 3.

Consider, gentle reader, that in all the political discourse there is no reference to the Creator or to His Law. There is no effort to bring politics under the jurisdiction of the Great God of All Creation. Instead we look to His egotistical, erratic, sinful, political creatures to solve our national problems. Failing to understand that Christians are usually part of the problem we think that the solution is to get Christian men elected to high positions.

Over nearly five decades of captivity to Christ I have been betrayed, cheated, maligned, and condemned more times by Christians than by pagans. Antinomian Christians are often more dangerous than pagans because we expect more from them than their level of maturity warrants.

It is the refusal to be corrected and the refusal to repent that sets God’s face against the United States of America. Loss of freedom is a punishment from God; it was in ancient Israel and still is today. God is not blessing America; we are losing our freedom!

The Christian Church is the center of God’s judgment. When the Church begins to face reality, recognize the crown on the head of King Jesus, and preach obedience, then freedom will commence to return. Unfortunately, humility is scarce and there is no evidence that repentance and obedience are close at hand. We are traveling on a dark road. Governments killed more of their own people during the Twentieth Century than have died in all the wars of history. Elements involved with the OWS movement would gleefully wipe out the White Race.

Actually, they’re not lost geographically.  We see them every day on the cable news channels and the evening news of the broadcast networks.  This decade they call themselves the “Occupy Wall Street” Group.  I believe they are lost, unrecoverable, as productive, patriotic, Americans.  I’m no shrink, but I believe they will carry a degree of bitterness, for the reminder of their lives, as a result of America’s rejection of their attempt to force a socialist form of government on a nation of people who love freedom. The risk was theirs to take.  History will record their failure — a failure they will never be able to put behind them. They will drag it like an anchor throughout their lifetime. They have made their choice and they now must live with the consequences.

These people have been around since Vladimir Lenin.  They are espousing the socialist/communist line and they are SOOOOO DUMB they don’t have a clue they are being used by the shadowy figures organizing and financing their infantile protestations.

Those dirty, smelly, boorish, idiots are disposable tools of the leftist power brokers, themselves the mortal enemies of capitalists and democracy.

They are supported by the Communist Party, the Socialist Party, the Nazi Party, the Democratic Party …… .  We should add the labor unions to this OUTSTANDING gaggle of anti-capitalist left-wingers.

They don’t know WHAT the want – but they want it NOW.  It is the primal cry of an infant seeking attention.

If you are expecting anything good to come of the rent-a-riot crowd in our streets these days, you should reconsider.  This whole “OWS” movement is going to end in disaster.  This ain’t my first rodeo.  I have seen this before. It always ends in tragedy.

As the shrillness of the demonstrators mounts, the public’s tolerance level will fall.  At some point in the future, a tipping point will be reached and blood will be spilt and lives lost.  It is the nature of clashes between groups of human beings.  We call them wars, civil wars, insurrections, riots,

Demonstrations, and at their inception – “protests.”

Power brokers the world over always use the youth to fight their wars and secure their goals.  They use youth’s own overestimation of themselves and their intellect.  For the most part they are that point in life at which they are dumb as posts.  Their minds are mushy and pliable and easily melded into a gestalt or group mentality in which even a coward feels powerful.   They think and act as a single animal with multiple voices expressing thoughts not their own.  They are pitiful creatures. But then, so is a mad dog.

They are the flotsam of our society. They take pride in soiling themselves, our cities, and our society with their witless demands that Americans hand over their freedom and their wealth to an omnipotent government THEY believe will redistribute the collective wealth of America “fairly.”

Grown-ups understand that life is not “fair.”

Economic fairness equals socialism.  Under socialism, the government owns all the wealth of the nation.  The government then doles it out, as IT sees fit, in order that ALL its citizens suffer equally.  Winston Churchill understood that and said so many times.

The protesters we see in America’s streets today are a product of America’s failed educational system, including America’s institutions of “higher” learning.  They have no clear understanding of who they are as Americans.  They are no longer tethered to America’s history and heritage.   Like our current one-term President, Obama, they feel they are citizens of the world rather than citizens of America.  They lack the basic knowledge of the blood, sweat, and tears that went into founding and building this nation while, at the same time, winning its freedom from a despotic king — and maintaining its freedom through the sacrifice of the lives of their forefathers.

They are not “Americans’ in the truest sense of the word.  They are “Globalists.”  The blame for this lack of patriotism toward a country that nurtured them is, in my opinion, the fault of America’s failed educational system.

As I said above – they are flotsam.  They have no attachments, no allegiance, to anything, or anyone, but themselves.  They give new depth to the meaning of “psychopath.”  They have no empathy or remorse for their behavior.

Freedom of speech is one thing.  But attempting to FORCE your will on a society that chose, long ago, to forsake a socialist form of government based on the historical record of socialism’s failure as a workable way to govern and for the pain and anguish it brings to those forced to live by it’s tenants.

America has been deeply wounded by the 1960’s forerunners of the OWS movement.  They have infiltrated our educational system, our clergy, and our government.  Today we are paying the toll for their infectious influence on all three institutions.

Be warned, America.  A second wave of leftist destruction is about to strike our foundational institutions.  It is already too late to turn the tide.  Now we can only face it and stand strong, refusing to give even one inch to the terminal disease that rots the soul of a nation and insures its demise.  Look upon the face of socialism.  Look upon the faces of those who would force YOU to bend to their will and betray your heritage as Americans… your precious freedom.

On November 9th, 2011 Americans will get an up close and personal demonstration of the new powers the US government has given itself over America’s broadcast services.

There will be a complete take over of the nation’s air waves, both television and radio – plus — cable television systems, wireless cable systems, satellite digital audio radio service (SDARS) providers, and direct broadcast satellite (DBS) providers.  The power to do this is now in the hands of the President.  Only he has the authority to do this. (SOURCE)

On November 9th there will be a test of how effectively the system will work whenever the President decides he must speak to the American people reference an emergency that threatens the nation.

Who exactly, decides when there is a national emergency?  I would expect it to be the President himself.

I am a 30-year veteran of the broadcast business (retired) and this sends chills up and down my spine.  I have visions of Big Brother taking control of the nation’s broadcast systems any time the President feels the need.

But that is not the worst of my concerns.

There is no such thing as “privacy” in America any longer.  The moment I press “send” on my e-mail, the government scans it.  Every time I make a phone call, whether on my land line, or my cell phone, the government monitors it.  If I send a fax on an instant message, the government scans the wording of the fax.  If and when I send a text message, the government reads it, too.  UNBELIEVABLE, right?  Believe it.

This is a combined project referred to as “Echelon” (or The Echelon Network – sometimes called “The Five Eyes.”) involving the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, with listening posts that span the globe.  Every phone call, e-mail, text message, wire, fax, instant message, computer, and even satellite phone calls is/are intercepted 24-hours a day, seven days a week, fifty-two weeks a year.   Listening posts are located in Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Taiwan, Cyprus, Hungary, Pakistan, India, Oman, Kenya, and, yes, in Israel.   And – there may well be others, and there probably are.

When you consider all this, then the TV show “Person of Interest” is not so far fetched – now, is it?

“The system has been reported in a number of public sources. Its capabilities and political implications were investigated by a committee of the European Parliament during 2000 and 2001 with a report published in 2001, and by author James Bamford in his books on the National Security Agency of the United States.

Intelligence monitoring of people in the area covered by the AUSCANZUKUS security agreement has caused concern. Some critics claim the system is being used not only to search for terrorist plots, drug dealers’ plans, and political and diplomatic intelligence but also for large-scale commercial theft, international economic espionage, and invasion of privacy.

NOW, do you wonder why Americans stand close and whisper in public places, in 2011, yet mindlessly say anything to anyone online, or on a telephone or by text message?
Call me old fashioned, if you will, but it ticks me off to know that the government has the power to do this.  By the time you read this, the government’s interception center has already read it!

Does this not concern Americans, Brits, Canadians, Aussies, and New Zealanders???  And PLEASE don’t give me the song and dance about protecting us from terrorists.  Terrorists know about Echelon and use “runners” to deliver their messages – live human beings and word of mouth.

Now the government has given the Office of the President the right to simply turn off your radio and TV reception just so you and I can listen to the President of the US warn us of a national emergency, which, most likely,  the regular TV and cable networks have already told us about!

As an American citizen, I feel violated.  I used to have a right to privacy.  No longer.  Right along with a huge chunk of our freedom and liberty, privacy has been flushed down Big Brother’s toilet and into the “government septic tank.”

Come to think of it, every few years you have to clean our your septic tank.  Seems to me, America’s national septic tank, in Washington, needs cleaning out!

The South Carolina primary is one of the earliest primaries in the nation. It will be coming up very early next year. Sure to be an issue is the Confederate Battle Flag. See, there are those among us who will make certain it is an issue. Many, if not most, of those who cannot wait to involve one of South Carolina’s most treasured heritage symbols are members of the mainstream media. With a southerner from one of the most important states of the Confederacy sure to be within the top three leading GOP candidates seeking the Republican nomination for President of the US — there is simply NO WAY it will not be made an issue.

So, before the liberal media clouds the waters concerning my home and its relationship with and to the Confederate Battle Flag, I thought I would get ahead of the curve, so to speak, and provide a bit of insight on that relationship through the eyes of a born and raised “sandlapper.”

As ridiculous as it may seem, there are some people in America who believe that South Carolina should forsake its southern heritage in favor of, well… money, ie: tourist dollars, dollars from athletic events, and such. As a proud native South Carolinian I think I can safely say our answer to that is: “KISS MY GRITS!”

Look, I AM a native South Carolinian, or “sandlapper,” as we affectionately call ourselves. I was born there, and I was raised there, and everything I do, and everything I have done in my life… up to now… has its roots in South Carolina. I’m a resident of North Carolina, and have been for 50 years, but my heart will always be in my home of South Carolina.

South Carolina is a small state, which thinks it is at least as large as Texas, maybe even Alaska! It is, as they say: a state of mind. Sandlappers are a proud people, black and white… and Native American.

The state is absolutely beautiful. The rolling hills of its piedmont are awesome and the northwestern mountains are breathtaking in beauty. The South Carolina coast is an absolute jewel (Myrtle Beach). White sands and blue water sparkles all year ‘round. I guess living amid such beauty has an effect on Sandlappers.

You cannot live in Paradise and not be affected by it. You can’t live in Paradise and not defend it — just the way it is. The last thing you want is for somebody, anybody, to come into your paradise and attempt to change it by force, or coercion, or any other way. It’s YOUR paradise and you don’t want it changed, period!

My folks sailed into the harbor of a little South Carolina coastal city, by the name of Charles Town, in 1789. My family is still there.

The people of South Carolina are nothing if they aren’t “spunky.” They’ll stick their collective thumbs into the eye of the biggest giant around. They will defy any entity, which trys to force them into any sort of submissive state. Take Great Britain and the United States of America, for instance. (Somewhere Cornwallis is still cussing South Carolina.) Sandlappers led the way when they broke away from a repressive US government in 1861. So… they won one and lost one. Both were honorable efforts on the part of South Carolina, and THAT is what matters! In fact — it matters a LOT!

The battle over the Confederate Battle Flag is a battle only in the minds of folks who don’t live in South Carolina, or are misled, misguided, mistaken, and miserably uninformed about the history of the Confederate Battle Flag itself. .

The facts on the ground, as they say, are summed up this way: The people of South Carolina have made the decision that the flag will never leave public view, and they simply don’t care what you, or I, or anyone else, thinks about it. What others may want for the Confederate Battle Flag is of no concern, whatsoever, to the folks of South Carolina.

As I said, no matter what you may think, the CBF (Confederate Battle Flag) is a celebration of South Carolina’s Heritage.

No people, anywhere, adore and esteem their ancestors more than do the people of my home state. The quickest way I know of to get a sharp rap across one’s nose is to make a disparaging remark about a sandlapper’s Confederate ancestors.

So, when “outsiders” (that’s anyone not a citizen of South Carolina) take it upon themselves to rail against SC history, of which that flag is an honored part, and go even farther and dictate how South Carolina should behave… then it is sure to backfire and bring a great deal of dismay upon the “outsider”.

In the Iodine State, when you try to equate money with heritage, it can’t be done. Heritage, in South Carolina, is more valuable than money. One’s heritage is one’s identity.

It makes no difference whether you believe us when we say the Confederate Battle Flag is a symbol of our heritage, a heritage of which we are proud. We simply don’t care if you disagree!

Far from hurting South Carolina’s economy the NAACP boycott has done no measurable harm to the state’s economy. Tourism dollars in the state have continued to rise since its beginning. The NCAA boycott is just a minor annoyance. Nobody, much, is concerned about it… save for the colleges and universities themselves… and the diehard fans. But, when questioned, SC fans will tell you they would rather contend with the NCAA boycott than take down their ancestor’s flag.

When the battle flag was placed atop the capitol dome, about 100 years after the War of Northern Aggression and Sherman’s burning of Columbia, it was placed there as a visible warning to tyrannical government. It was saying: “Hey! Remember us? We’re still here — and we’re still opposed to any move by the government to take, or curtail, our freedom.” The CBF flies every day as a warning to tyrants everywhere — even in Washington, DC.

Here’s a little known fact about the current placement of the Confederate Battle Flag in the state’s capitol. When the South Carolina legislature voted to remove the Confederate Battle Flag from the Capitol Dome, and set it permanently at the most visible point in the entire city, the Confederate Monument, the legislature included the provision that the Confederate Battle Flag could NEVER be moved, by any vote of the State Legislature… except a 2/3rds vote of both houses. That’s not going to happen… at least for the next 100 years, or so.

The South is known for its hospitality. And South Carolina is certainly a past master at the practice of Southern hospitality. But keep one thing in mind. If the visitor abuses the hospitality of my home state, they will be invited to leave and never return! And that is as it should be!

So, to wind this up, the NAACP and the NCAA and the mainstream media might just as well move on to greener pastures, for they are only spinning their wheels, and getting zero traction, in the red clay and sandy loam of my home, South Carolina!

So, after the debates, after the voting in the SC primary – even after the vote on Election Day in November of 2012 — the Confederate Battle Flag will STILL be flying from the mast at the Confederate Monument near the corner of Gervais and Assembly Streets on the State House grounds in Columbia, South Carolina. And THAT TOO is as it should be!

Unfortunately, many Americans have become inured to the trampling of freedom of association. You can work your fingers to the bone starting a business, and the government becomes a partner that contributes nothing but extracts much. It not only shares your profits and regulates you to death, but, more to the point here, dictates whom you must serve and the bases on which you may hire and fire people. And woe betide he who doesn’t bow before Leviathan.

A recent example of this is the Wildflower Inn, a Vermont B&B. After devout Catholic owners Jim and Mary O’Reilly refused to host a “wedding” reception for two lesbians, they were sued by the ACLU. As a result, they have had to expend resources retaining a lawyer for a case that they will no doubt lose and that will likely end with their having to pay monetary damages. Of course, the O’Reilly case is just one of many. In fact, today, Leviathan’s tyranny has reach a point at which you can be put through its meat grinder if you refuse to hire a cross-dresser or a Muslim woman who insists on wearing an eighth-century drape to work.

And tyranny is the word for it. After all, no one would deny that you have a right to include in or exclude from your home whomever you please. So why should you lose that right simply because you decide to erect a few more tables and sell food or to rent rooms to travelers? It’s still your private property, paid for with your money, created by the sweat of your own brow. Oh, yeah, that’s right. At one time a lawyer in a black robe declared such places “public accommodations” – and, as we all know, legal decrees alter reality.

But the reality is that we need a solution, and I just may have one. And unless there is a catch in the law I’m unaware of – and, by all means, I’d like feedback in this regard – it could restore businesses’ freedom of association.

As you may know, private clubs aren’t subject to the aforementioned laws. This is why while rabble-rousing feminist Martha Burke could grind her teeth and protest a bit, she had no legal recourse to force Augusta National Golf Club to take on women members. Well, businesses should simply go the private-club route.

Here is how it would work: Let’s say I have a restaurant. By all outward appearances it would seem to be just that, but, for Leviathan’s benefit, I wouldn’t designate it as such.

Instead, it would be a private diners club.

And when a prospective customer walked through the doors, he would be informed that he had to be a member to eat there.

Of course, the membership fee would be a penny and approval (or rejection) would be immediate.

And what of employees? If private clubs are still subject to EEOC regulations, then all workers would have to be members, too.

Assuming this would fly, it would work with any business. A hotel would be a private travelers club, a store a private shoppers club (is Costco such an example?), a barber shop a private styling club. It would be a shot across Leviathan’s bow and a very pleasing way of sticking out our collective tongue at the statists.

When contending with the Barbary pirates, early America’s battle cry was, “Millions for defense, not a penny for tribute.” Can we not muster up the same American spirit when dealing with our barbaric statist pirates? After all, it’s much easier for us. We will save millions in tribute with a penny for defense.

Rebuttal to Randy Turner’s Huffington Post Piece

Randy Turner is a Joplin blogger who writes for the Huffington Post. He’s questioning Rush Limbaugh’s decision to come to Joplin and the rhetoric that comes along with it. In doing so, he brings up Barack Obama’s recent visit to Joplin.

However, on the same Friday show in which he announced he would be in Joplin, Limbaugh said the following:

I’m gonna tell you something else is gonna happen at Landreth Park in Joplin on Monday night: We’re gonna grow the Republican Party. It’s a Fourth of July celebration. We have the Harvard survey from yesterday: Fourth of July parades breed Republicans. Young kids at Fourth of July parties tend to end up being Republican. Fourth of July celebrations do not have any patriotic impact on Democrats. This is from a Harvard survey. We had it yesterday. Now, you Democrats, you can try to throw cold water all you want on what we’re doing Monday night in Joplin, but I just want to remind you what’s actually happening Monday night in Joplin, Missouri. Not only the continuing rebirth of a great community, and not only the joining of people coming together for a singular purpose (well, actually multipurpose) but we’re also growing the conservative movement. Try that!

During another segment of the program, Limbaugh repeated his earlier criticism that the president waited a week to come to Joplin while he was in Europe.

Limbaugh has a First Amendment right to criticize those whose opinions differ from his. No one questions that. But hopefully, he can see that a Fourth of July celebration at Landreth Park is not the time nor the place to do it.

The people who came to Joplin immediately after the tornado and in the days and weeks afterward were not just rock-ribbed Republicans, though undeniably they were here. Liberals by the thousands were also cleaning up debris, helping salvage treasured belongings, and offering moral support to people when they needed it the most.

These were people who care about their nation just as deeply as Limbaugh and his followers do.

When President Obama arrived seven days after the tornado, he offered support to people who were suffering and it did not matter that this community voted solidly against him three years ago. There was no hint of the divisiveness that has darkened so much of the day-to-day discourse in our nation.

Hopefully, when Rush Limbaugh makes his presence felt in our city July 4, it will be in the same spirit. A park in the middle of an area that has seen 158 people killed and thousands of homes and businesses wiped off the map does not need to be a site for growing the Republican Party, the Democratic Party, or any other political organization.
The only thing we need to be growing is together.

When you come to Joplin, Rush, please bring the tea and leave the tea party behind.

Mr Turner, with all due respect, wasn’t Obama’s visit to Joplin politically motivated too, stemming from Democrats who attacked George W. Bush shortly after Katrina for the federal government’s response to the emergency? Seriously, what did Obama really hope to accomplish by bringing Air Force One to Joplin, standing around for a photo op in the tornado wreckage, and then delivering a speech. It was the American people who united to help Joplin, and it is the stories of the survivors and those lossed that brought the community and the country together. Obama or any other president doesn’t have that power. This is the power of the American people. It’s this American spirit that puts this divisiveness aside, and it’s politicians like Obama who use it to push their agenda the second they return to Washington. By the way, it happens on both sides of the argument.

It is Katrina that now sets the standard for the politicking that goes on after an emergency and both sides are guilty of using Joplin for the photo op whether it be “boots on the ground, hands in his pocket” Billy Long or Barack Obama. What good is it really that these representatives of the federal government come to see where these people once lived before mighty Mother Nature had the last say? Not one politician drove the pathos and ethos of Joplin and the American people. The hundreds of thousands of dollars spent for them to come and make their photo ops are hundreds of thousands that could be used to rebuild Joplin.

Politicians use natural disasters because there is a human interest there that people can relate too far more than quantitative easing, TARP bailouts, and forced mandates. It’s pure political pathos that’s good for the poll numbers, which is exactly why our own Congressman spends as much time getting in front of a Joplin camera or microphone when one is offered, but it’s easy to see through.

You seem to forget that all week before Obama got to Joplin, he was drinking beers, playing ping pong, and enjoying a European break. Joplin seemed far from his mind. Other than delivering words and promises, what was really all that worthy about Obama’s visit to Joplin or any other political official’s visit?

(As Joplin picks itself up off the ground…)

Obama was there for political capital, and even though he wasn’t as blatant obvious about it, we all know the politics of Katrina are behind Obama’s response. So you can tell Rush to bring the Tea but leave the Tea Party at home, but you need to hold the other politicians to the same standard who chose to make Joplin a photo op guided by the politics of Katrina.

Honestly, Mr. Turner, considering the amount of money the federal government has spent flying official after official to Joplin to take the tour along side Congressman Long, I think Rush’s caravan is well-welcomed when you consider the government is not subsidizing Rush’s tea to keep the people of Joplin refreshed in humid Southwest Missouri in July. If it wasn’t for the idiots at Harvard who try to divide this Republic will silly studies that attempt to discourage the Fourth of July celebration claiming it’s one big rally to indoctrinate children to become Republicans, Rush wouldn’t even have said what he said on Friday as he announced he was coming to Joplin.

So if you are looking for divide, look to Harvard and the liberals who tried to claim the Fourth of July is a Republican recruiting holiday. You left out that part as your Fourth of July celebration in Joplin along with celebrations across the fruited plain were suddenly centers of right-wing indoctrination. Talk about divisive!

Mr. Turner and Joplin residents, I do hope you enjoy your Fourth of July in Joplin without politicians making it about them. You and I both know politicians like Billy Long will scramble to get their photo op with El Rushbo, and worst of all, they won’t wait in line like average people to meet Mr. Limbaugh.
