That wasn&#8217;t the vision of the founders. They saw democracy as another form of tyranny.</p>
<p>If we&#8217;ve become a democracy, I guarantee you that the founders would be deeply disappointed by our betrayal of their vision. The founders intended, and laid out the ground rules, for our nation to be a republic.</p>
<p>The word &#8220;democracy&#8221; appears nowhere in the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution &#8212; two most fundamental documents of our nation. Instead of a democracy, the Constitution&#8217;s Article IV, Section 4, guarantees &#8220;to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government.&#8221;</p>
<p>Moreover, let&#8217;s ask ourselves: Does our pledge of allegiance to the flag say to &#8220;the democracy for which it stands,&#8221; or does it say to &#8220;the republic for which it stands&#8221;? Or do we sing &#8220;The Battle Hymn of the Democracy&#8221; or &#8220;The Battle Hymn of the Republic&#8221;? So what&#8217;s the difference between republican and democratic forms of government?</p>
<p>John Adams captured the essence of the difference when he said, &#8220;You have rights antecedent to all earthly governments; rights that cannot be repealed or restrained by human laws; rights derived from the Great Legislator of the Universe.&#8221; Nothing in our Constitution suggests that government is a grantor of rights. Instead, government is a protector of rights.</p>
<p>In recognition that it&#8217;s Congress that poses the greatest threat to our liberties, the framers used negative phrases against Congress throughout the Constitution such as: shall not abridge, infringe, deny, disparage, and shall not be violated, nor be denied. In a republican form of government, there is rule of law.</p>
<p>All citizens, including government officials, are accountable to the same laws. Government power is limited and decentralized through a system of checks and balances. Government intervenes in civil society to protect its citizens against force and fraud but does not intervene in the cases of peaceable, voluntary exchange.</p>
<p>Contrast the framers&#8217; vision of a republic with that of a democracy. In a democracy, the majority rules either directly or through its elected representatives. As in a monarchy, the law is whatever the government determines it to be. Laws do not represent reason.They represent power.</p>
<p>The restraint is upon the individual instead of government. Unlike that envisioned under a republican form of government, rights are seen as privileges and permissions that are granted by government and can be rescinded by government.</p>
<p>How about a few quotations demonstrating the disdain our founders held for democracy? James Madison, Federalist Paper No. 10: In a pure democracy, &#8220;there is nothing to check the inducement to sacrifice the weaker party or the obnoxious individual.&#8221;</p>
<p>At the 1787 Constitutional Convention, Edmund Randolph said, &#8221; &#8230; that in tracing these evils to their origin every man had found it in the turbulence and follies of democracy.&#8221; John Adams said,&#8221;Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself.</p>
<p>There was never a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.&#8221; Chief Justice John Marshall observed, &#8220;Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.&#8221; In a word or two, the founders knew that a democracy would lead to the same kind of tyranny the colonies suffered under King George III.</p>
<p>The framers gave us a Constitution that is replete with undemocratic mechanisms. One that has come in for recent criticism and calls for its elimination is the Electoral College.</p>
<p>In their wisdom, the framers gave us the Electoral College so that in presidential elections large, heavily populated states couldn&#8217;t democratically run roughshod over small, sparsely populated states.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s my question: Do Americans share the republican values laid out by our founders, and is it simply a matter of our being unschooled about the differences between a republic and a democracy?</p>
<p>Or is it a matter of preference and we now want the kind of tyranny feared by the founders where Congress can do anything it can muster a majority vote to do? I fear it&#8217;s the latter.</p>

<p>Like the biblical prophets of antiquity – Moses, Elijah, Isaiah and John the Revelator, all who jeopardized their lives and heroically proclaimed the word of God to the ignorant, arrogant and barbaric masses, the Israelites, people who constantly refused to hear the words of life, truth, reason and salvation – so it is in our times. In 1958, a modern-day prophet named Cleon Skousen wrote a visionary book titled &#8220;The Naked Communist,&#8221; warning America and the world of the existential communist menace, and for the past six decades all we did was metaphorically roll over in our beds and grumble, &#8220;Wake me when it&#8217;s over.&#8221;</p>
<p>Well … it&#8217;s over! We&#8217;re all communists now.</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t take my word for it; read the words from the communist forefathers&#8217; own mouths:</p>
<ul>
<li>Marx: <em>Democracy is the road to socialism;</em></li>
<li>Lenin: <em>Democracy is indispensable to socialism. The goal of socialism is communism;</em></li>
<li>Marx: <em>The meaning of peace is the absence of opposition to socialism.</em></li>
</ul>
<p>History tells us that all of America&#8217;s Founding Fathers hated democracy and considered it one of the most evil forms of government ever known to civilization, which is why they insisted on a republic founded under natural law (integration of legality [common law] and morality [Judeo-Christianity]). In the 1830s and &#8217;40s, Karl Marx (an atheist who hated religion) exploited the inequities of Christianity, democracy and capitalism in his prolific writings and foretold that they would soon give way to the birth of <a href="http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&amp;pageId=298517#">democratic socialism</a>, which as state policy first occurred in Germany under Otto von Bismarck (1862-90) who created the modern welfare state by building upon a tradition of welfare <a href="http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&amp;pageId=298517#">programs</a> established in Prussia and Saxony in the 1840s.</p>
<p>During the 1900s, state socialism and communism would spread its tentacles throughout Europe, Russia, Asia, South America and North America, where it thrives to this day.</p>
<p>Here are some more communist tactics Skousen exposes:</p>
<p><strong><em>Use <a href="http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&amp;pageId=298517#">student</a> riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under communist attack.</em></strong></p>
<p>To save his state from bankruptcy, in February, <a href="http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&amp;pageId=298517#">Wisconsin</a> Gov. Scott Walker fought against unionism and collective bargaining. Like entitled children, the union leaders provoked their membership, including all public sector <a href="http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&amp;pageId=298517#">employees</a> and teachers unions, to riot simply because they were asked to pay 12.6 percent of their health-insurance premiums and contribute 5.8 percent of their salaries to the Wisconsin <a href="http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&amp;pageId=298517#">Retirement</a> System pension program (taxpayers will cover the majority costs). Students allied with teachers who all skipped class for weeks, violently protested at the state Capitol building and cost several million dollars in damages to the building, even though most citizens agreed with Gov. Walker&#8217;s modest proposals.</p>
<p><strong><em>Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV and motion pictures.</em></strong></p>
<p>Democracy, socialism and communism are all fascist ideologies and are all defined by their interference in the market. The moment the government interferes with the <a href="http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&amp;pageId=298517#">free market</a> in any way, capitalism ceases and is automatically replaced by liberalism, socialism, fascism or communism. The only difference is in degrees. Democratic socialists have been masterful over the decades at manipulating the media to mainstream communist ideas into society.</p>
<p><strong><em>Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. Control art critics and directors of art museums by eliminating all laws governing obscenity by calling them &#8220;censorship&#8221; and a violation of free speech and free press.</em></strong></p>
<p>Skousen chronicled that an American Communist cell was told to &#8220;eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms.&#8221; A few weeks ago I wrote a Socratic dialogue, <a href="http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&amp;pageId=233105">&#8220;Symposium: Art, music and the Wagnerian dilemma,&#8221;</a> to demonstrate how liberalism has glorified the evil, vile, obsessive and the grotesque, while denigrating the beautiful, pure, inspiring and the transcendent by systematically and purposely corrupting all aesthetic expression in American culture.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.jewishworldreview.com/0999/virgin.dung.html">A painting of the Black Virgin stained with elephant dung</a>, Andreas Serrano&#8217;s &#8220;Pi&#8212;Christ&#8221; (1989) and Robert Mapplethorpe&#8217;s &#8220;Self-portrait with bullwhip&#8221; seen protruding out his rectum are other examples of aesthetic nihilism, which is a goal of communism. We the taxpayers are forced to pay for the housing and the exhibition of these and thousands of other degenerate <a href="http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&amp;pageId=298517#">works</a> of &#8220;art.&#8221; The overvalued, nitwit scribblings of Picasso and his decadent lifestyle 100 years ago is another case in point.</p>
<p><strong><em>Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio and TV.</em></strong></p>
<p>Since the 1960s, the American Civil Liberties Union and the Supreme Court have made pornography &#8220;constitutional.&#8221; This brings to mind Justice Potter Stewart&#8217;s famous aphorism to describe his threshold test for pornography in Jacobellis v. Ohio (1964) – &#8220;I know it when I see it.&#8221;</p>
<p><strong><em>Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as &#8220;normal, natural, healthy.&#8221;</em></strong></p>
<p>Communism believes that &#8220;Truth is anything that will promote communism.&#8221; Therefore, moral depravity, including militant homosexuality, degeneracy, promiscuity, pedophilia, bestiality and worse are all acceptable means to collapse Christianity and capitalism. In the end, built upon its ashes will be a utopia, a glorious new worker&#8217;s paradise where everyone has all their needs taken care of from cradle to grave by the omnipotent State. The price? <a href="http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&amp;pageId=298517#">Your money</a>, your liberty, your blood, your life and your soul.</p>
<p>The picture above is from Eugen Richter&#8217;s 1907 novel <a href="http://mises.org/daily/4504">&#8220;Pictures of a Socialistic Future&#8221;</a> and speaks of the universal truths about the treachery of socialism. The novel is written from the perspective of a true believer of the socialist revolution who tragically realizes that a political system that violates the laws of economics and human nature can only lead to poverty, hunger, violence and, ultimately, dictatorship. Unfortunately, by the time he realizes his ignorance, his world has been destroyed.</p>
<p>The differences between Richter&#8217;s era 100 years ago and now is that then, the anti-intellectual virus of public-education atheism and socialist propaganda hadn&#8217;t run its full <a href="http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&amp;pageId=298517#">course</a> yet. In 2008, national collective ignorance caused America to elect a naked communist and anti-Semite as president. In 2011, cowardice prevents America from nominating a first-tier candidate brave enough to expose this Marxist usurper and dispatch him back to Chicagoland where he belongs. Why?</p>
<p>… Because we&#8217;re all communists now.</p>

<p>In 2009 I wrote the following:<strong> </strong><strong><em>“</em></strong><em>I fear for my country. America has gone from a vibrant capitalist society to a dying socialist society almost overnight. We have become an impotent sleeping giant sprawled across the globe whiling away our days dreaming of a socialist utopia that does not exist and never has. If anything, we among all, people are the most to be pitied. How pathetic we have become. We have traded our shining city on a hill for a government low-rent housing project. The worst of it is… we did it of our own free will!</em></p>
<p><em> </em></p>
<p><em>Yes, democracy can be a dangerous way to govern a country as the German people learned when allied bombs were raining down on their cities. They chose the Furher of their own free will and they paid a price no nation should ever have to pay.</em></p>
<p><em> </em></p>
<p><em>For democracy to exist, to thrive, and to survive, it is incumbent, it is REQUIRED, that the electorate is intelligent, learned, and knowledgeable people. Because it is they who decide, by their votes, whether democracy, in a free country, lives or dies.</em></p>
<p><em> </em></p>
<p><em>The overriding question today is… Can America even survive? The answer, realistically, is… NO, she cannot… not if she continues the course she chose in 2008. Having said that, we must also say that YES, America can survive… IF she changes course and returns to her roots as a capitalist, democratic representative republic. </em></p>
<p><em> </em></p>
<p><em>There is likely to be a historic internal struggle in America over the next few years to decide the issue of whether America lives or dies. It will be ugly as such struggles always are. The first indication of which form of government Americans really want is likely to come in 2010 when Americans return to the polls. If socialist candidates are thrown out and defeated, there is REAL HOPE. If not, rest assured the struggle will go on for many decades into the future. America will be a troubled land for our grandchildren and great-grandchildren.</em></p>
<p><em> </em></p>
<p><em>Old America is gone. This New America cannot hold a candle to the greatness of the old America.”</em></p>
<p><em> </em></p>
<p>Earlier this week we learned that China’s economy will surpass that of the US by 2016. In an article by Brett Arends, <em>MarketWatch</em>, entitled: “IMF bombshell: Age of America nears end” Mr. Arends says: <em>“According to the latest IMF official forecasts, China’s economy will surpass that of America in real terms in 2016 — just five years from now. </em></p>
<p><em> </em></p>
<p><em>Put that in your calendar. </em></p>
<p><em> </em></p>
<p><em>It provides a painful context for the budget wrangling taking place in Washington right now. It raises enormous questions about what the international security system is going to look like in just a handful of years. And it casts a deepening cloud over both the U.S. dollar and the giant Treasury market, which have been propped up for decades by their privileged status as the liabilities of the world’s hegemonic power.”</em></p>
<p>Mr. Arends goes on to say: <em>“According to the IMF forecast, whoever is elected U.S. president next year — Obama? Mitt Romney? Donald Trump? — will be the last to preside over the world’s largest economy.” (You may read the entire article </em><a href="http://www.marketwatch.com/story/imf-bombshell-age-of-america-about-to-end-2011-04-25?link=MW_home_latest_news"><strong><em>HERE.</em></strong></a>)<em> </em></p>

<p><em> </em></p>
<p>Well, there it is. I actually never thought I would live to see America brought low. But, what we are experiencing here in America is the death of our country at our own hands. It is suicide.</p>
<p>It has been known, for an exceedingly long time, that democracies have a few fatal flaws. In the case of America, <em>we have murdered our country</em> through the use of two of those fatal flaws. Number one: As soon as the electorate realizes it can vote itself money from the country’s treasury, it will break itself, financially, and thus collapse. Number two: In a democracy, it is entirely possible to elect leadership that is not interested in the betterment of the country. In our case, we elected leadership determined to “fundamentally change” America. He has kept his promise.</p>
<p>Honestly, I don’t think we <em>CAN</em> save America. I think the only hope for a free country, on these shores, rests with a small nucleus of Americans who saw this coming, warned, and warned, and warned &#8212; anyone who would listen &#8212; that it WAS COMING, and are now considered a threat to those elements of the US government who fear, now that their façade has broken and fallen away, that those freedom lovers just might, through political resistance, impede their progress in continuing to disassemble America and remake it into a communist/marxist third-world dung heap.</p>
<p>And don’t forget this: If you think the world has been troubled before, <em>wait until there is NO American leadership.</em> We are getting a taste of it right now in the Middle East.</p>
<p>The point is – the decline of America means the decline of the world … <em>period</em>. We can expect a world in chaos, utter and complete.</p>
<p>So, once more I am going to issue my warning: The stage has been set for a one-world government (Global Governance) to take charge of all the countries of the world. It will be dictatorial – <em>it must be.</em> Preparations have been underway for such a global government for many years now.</p>
<p>Such a government will bring nothing but continued war around the globe. The so-called <em>“Responsibility to Protect”</em> will guarantee it. In a hundred years, or less, the planet will resemble a cinder pockmarked by the ravages of multiple wars raging simultaneously on this once beautiful jewel of our solar system.</p>
<p><em>This is what America chose. This is what the WORLD chose. </em></p>
<p>Is there hope? Keep your eye on <em>the remnant</em>.</p>

I mean &#8212; <em>anyone other that a few eggheads in Washington and in the cloistered halls of academia, of course.</em></p>
<p>Naw! <em>Ain’t gonna happen!</em></p>
<p>When all the smoke finally clears in Egypt the chances are extremely good that another strongman-type government will reign supreme in Egypt. And, honestly, I don’t think that is all bad.</p>
<p>A very astute friend came to visit me today, and as we sat in my office discussing the situation in Egypt and the Middle East, we agreed that the Arab countries and the Persian country of Iran are not what one could describe as “fertile soil” for democracy. <em>Not by a long shot.</em></p>
<p>Look. For a democratic government to survive it takes commitment by the people of that country to work, every day, at maintaining control of their government… as we Americans are learning today – <em>much to the chagrin of many US citizens! </em></p>
<p>A people of a democracy must think of themselves as a single entity and not as a member of multiple tribes, or clans, or religions, etc. And that is where democracy crashes and burns in the countries of the Middle East. Democracy hasn’t a chance, in Iraq, in Afghanistan, in Iran, in Egypt, in Jordan, in Syria, in Lebanon, in Pakistan, in Yemen, in Tunisia, in Saudi Arabia, etc.</p>
<p>Sadly, all the American blood shed in Iraq and in Afghanistan will have been wasted in the attempt to bring democracy to both those countries.</p>
<p>I am convinced that once US troops leave Iraq and Afghanistan, they will revert to their former ways and their former strongman-type governments &#8212; or anarchy and chaos – <em>or all three. In a startlingly short time, I am convinced the attempt to introduce democracy to those countries will be nothing more than a memory and a memory that will fuel only more resentment towards the US.</em></p>
<p><em> </em></p>
<p>In the beginning of the wars in Afghanistan, and in Iraq, we advocated a scorched-earth policy <em>on both battlefronts</em>. Utterly destroy the countries, especially their infrastructure, and leave them both as piles of smoking rubble &#8212; and bring the troops home.</p>
<p>As I see it, there was no reason to make efforts to win hearts and minds in that region. It led only to a bog-down and an extended stay, which is costing us great gobs of our treasure for which I see no return on the investment of our blood and money.</p>
<p>I do not support the US government’s policy of promoting democracy and so-called “human rights” by favoring certain Middle Eastern countries with loads of foreign aid, military aid, etc. I also do not support any attempt to spread democracy at the point of the gun or the bayonet.</p>
<p>I live in a part of the United States &#8212; that <em>IS</em> a part of the United States &#8212; as the result of my ancestors having been forced back into the US at the point of that bayonet. I am 150 years removed from that incident &#8212; <em>and it <strong>STILL</strong> smarts!</em></p>
<p>A century or so from today, if, and when, the Middle Eastern countries decide they want to experiment with democracy and request our assistance, then, by all means extend a helping hand. Until then, the US, in my estimation, has no business creating a government the people don’t understand, do not respect, and one that appears weak and unstable to them.</p>
<p>Until they are ready and willing to forsake their “tribal mindset” democracy has no chance of a long life in the aforementioned countries.</p>
<p>The US Government could save itself some sleepless nights worrying about protecting the continuous flow of oil from the Middle East if our inept government would allow the oil companies the right to explore for <em>and drill for</em> our own oil beneath our own soil and our own ocean bottom.</p>
<p>It has been established that America has enough oil of its own to service our needs for hundreds of years into the future even at today’s daily consumption of petroleum products including gasoline, and natural gas &#8212; not to mention one of the worlds largest deposits of coal.</p>
<p>We know from experience that the moment our own oil fields are opened and the threat of a decrease in the demand for middle eastern oil drops, even by a tiny bit, the middle eastern oil countries will drop their prices for crude as if it were a white hot stone.</p>
<p>One way to get the ball rolling on our own shores would be for the US Congress to abolish the Environmental Protection Agency, or at least, cut its funding to the point that it becomes totally impotent.</p>
<p>If I had any advice to give the US government on the Egyptian crisis, it would be short and simple, and, I believe, would save us some trouble down the road a few years. That advice would be: <em>Stay the hell out of the Egyptian “revolt” and allow it to play out without interference from the US.</em> <em>We can only make more enemies by injecting ourselves into an Egyptian domestic problem. </em></p>
<p>Another bit of unsolicited advice to the current regime in power in the US would be this: If the Obama regime really wants to do something that would actually be constructive in the Middle East, I would advise bolstering Israel with whatever Israel needs to insure that she is not overrun by the Islamist nations surrounding her.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, we currently have a presidential administration that is hostile to Israel and openly friendly to the Islamist states. That attitude by Obama was seen as an open invitation to mischief by those Islamist states that have sworn to utterly destroy the state of Israel and wipe her from the map.</p>
<p>Mr. President: Fortify Israel – forget Egypt. Egypt will work out its own problems with, or without, input and interference from a US President they have concluded is a weak, naïve, chief of state who will be out of office in a couple of years, in any event.</p>

<p>Mohamed El-Baradei has been acting of late as though he wanted <a href="http://nicholasstixuncensored.blogspot.com/2009/01/should-obama-be-sworn-in-or-arrested.html">“Barack Obama”</a> to act as a dictator or supreme commander, <a href="http://www.politicsdaily.com/2011/01/30/elbaradei-says-u-s-should-tell-mubarak-to-give-up-power/?icid=main%7Chp-desktop%7Cdl1%7Csec3_lnk1%7C198232">depose Egypt’s lawful leader</a>, and install El-Baradei as president, yet he sees this as a blueprint for “democratic” reform?</p>
<p>El-Baradei really needs to take his irony supplement.</p>
<p>Fortunately for him, <a href="http://nicholasstixuncensored.blogspot.com/2009/01/should-obama-be-sworn-in-or-arrested.html">the John Doe calling himself “Barack Hussein Obama”</a> is equally irony deficient! On Tuesday, “Obama,” while spouting democratic rhetoric, <a href="http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703445904576118472673641568.html">ordered Mubarak to abdicate</a>: “An orderly transition must be meaningful, it must be peaceful, and it must begin now.”</p>
<p>“Obama”: That would be the world’s most famous devotee of <a href="http://www.wnd.com/?pageId=59230">genocidal, Black Liberation Theology</a>.</p>
<p>The early news reports I read either ignored the <a href="http://www.fas.org/irp/world/para/mb.htm">Muslim Brotherhood’s</a> role in the rioting, or said the group was keeping a low profile, and though some mentioned that it supports imposing shariah, none that I saw mentioned that it was the Muslim Brotherhood that <a href="http://www.fas.org/irp/world/para/mb.htm">assassinated Egyptian President Anwar Sadat</a> in 1981. In fact, some sites ludicrously reported that the Brotherhood has “renounced violence.” Sure, and Al Qaeda is just a Koran study group.</p>
<p><a href="http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704832704576114132934597622.html?mod=googlenews_wsj">The Brotherhood has now agreed to support El-Baradei</a> as the “lead spokesman” (elsewhere described as “leader”) of pro-democracy forces, but if Mubarak surrenders power, the Brotherhood will sweep El-Baradei away like so much dust.</p>
<p>Another voice in favor of “democracy” comes from our Marxist friends at <em>The Daily Beast</em>, who tell us,</p>

Every time we have done so, from Vietnam’s generals to Afghanistan’s Hamid Karzai, we have had buyer’s remorse. But our interests are very much involved so we have a great stake in the outcome. Understanding the Brotherhood is vital to understanding our options…. </em></p>
<p><em>After the army seized power in 1952, [the Brotherhood] briefly flirted with supporting Gamal Abdel Nasser’s government but then moved into opposition. Nasser ruthlessly suppressed it. </em></p>
<p><em>Nasser and his successors, Anwar Sadat and Mubarak, have alternatively repressed and demonized the Brotherhood or tolerated it as an anti-communist and right-wing opposition….</em></p>

<p>Bruce Riedel’s claim that we have always had buyer’s remorse when we picked rulers is not true. Not in South Vietnam, and not in Iran. The former CIA officer also somehow neglected to mention that Nasser’s brutal suppression of the Brotherhood followed their assassination attempts on him, or that the group assassinated Sadat.</p>
<p>Note the non sequitur:</p>
<p>“Can America work with an Egypt where the Ikhwan is part of a transition or even a new government?</p>
<p>“The short answer is it is not our decision to make.”</p>
<p>The answer to what? Riedel’s answer is to a different question, whether America should have any say in the governing of a country that <a href="http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20110129/pl_nm/us_egypt_usa_11">gets $1.5 billion in annual aid from us</a>, and he admits that “our interests are very much involved so we have a great stake in the outcome.” Beyond that, as he well knows, Egypt is essential to regional stability.</p>
<p>Riedel never answers his question, because the answer is “no,” but he does not want to come clean with his true loyalties.</p>
<p>He also ignores the fact that the democratic Egyptian El-Baradei wants America to intervene, and “to pick Egyptians’ rulers.”</p>
<p>The notion that America should be passive in the face of a possible Islamist takeover in Egypt, and in much of North Africa, is completely inimical to America’s interests. Then again, Riedel’s orientation clearly <em>is</em> anti-American: He supported the Communist takeover of South Vietnam, and supports an Islamist takeover of Egypt and North Africa.</p>
<p>You might as well say, “Don’t Fear Al Qaeda.” <a href="http://www.politicsdaily.com/2011/01/30/elbaradei-says-u-s-should-tell-mubarak-to-give-up-power/?icid=main%7Chp-desktop%7Cdl1%7Csec3_lnk1%7C198232">Alinskyite Marxist Secretary of State Hillary Clinton</a> also calls, like her black liberationist boss, for “a transition that will meet the needs of the Egyptian people and that will truly establish democracy…”</p>
<p>Eight years ago, Zeev Chafets observed that Arab Moslems don’t march in favor of more democracy, but for less of it. They don’t march for peace, but for war. Mohamed El-Baradei may have fallen in love with his press clippings, but Bruce Riedel and Hillary Clinton know these truths better than I do. Democracy is not an option.</p>

<p>In my first post on the Progressive States Network, I went over their Board of Directors, and showed that they are a far-left, if not quasi-Marxist organization.  In coordination with John, owner of <a href="http://thecurrent9171787.blogspot.com/">The Current</a>, who wrote about the National Popular Vote, I’m going to address some of the PSN’s election initiatives.</p>
<p>First up, is Vote by Mail.  <a href="http://www.progressivestates.org/sharedagenda/1848">Here are some details from their own website:</a></p>
<blockquote><p><strong><em>Vote by Mail</em></strong><em>:</em><em> Vote by Mail is now an option in five states (<strong>California</strong>, <strong>Colorado</strong>, <strong>Montana</strong>, <strong>Hawaii</strong>, and <strong>New Jersey</strong>) and has been <a href="http://74.125.93.132/search?q=cache:c5IArjxCzUcJ:www.courierpostonline.com/article/20091013/NEWS01/910130342/Mail-in-ballots-proving-popular+%22mail-in+ballots+proving+popular%22&amp;cd=1&amp;hl=en&amp;ct=clnk&amp;gl=us&amp;client=firefox-a">increasingly popular</a> with voters. California and Colorado have seen the greatest usage with almost a third of California voters voting by mail in November 2008, and an astounding 71% of Colorado voters doing so. Key arguments in favor include:</em></p></blockquote>
<ul>
<li><strong><em>Vote by Mail Helps Increase Turnout:</em></strong><em> For many voters going to the polling place on election day is difficult, either for work or family reasons. Vote by Mail is the obvious, low-cost solution for giving such voters the flexibility they need to participate in our elections. Allowing voters the option to vote by mail for every election gives them a flexible path to the ballot box, without which they might not participate. </em></li>
<li><strong><em>Vote by Mail Gives Voters a Choice: </em></strong><em>In the 21st century, we have the ability to give all voters a choice in how they cast their ballots. There are many voters who can make it to the polls, but who prefer to vote by mail either for convenience or because they like having time to fill out their ballots in the comfort of their home. However, under current practice in some states the mail ballot option requires voters to have one of a few narrow reasons (an “excuse”) for not voting at the polls; and in all but five states, voters must reapply for a mail ballot every election.</em></li>
<li><em> </em><strong><em>Vote by Mail Reduces Election Day Chaos and Costs: </em></strong><em>Vote by mail also helps make sure that no one is prevented from voting on election day by long lines. Colorado residents reaped this benefit in the last presidential election with a smooth election that contrasted sharply with the previous election without vote by mail. In that election some Denver voters waited in lines that lasted half a day or more.</em></li>
</ul>
<p>They put a very nice wrapper around this idea.  It does sound very nice, doesn’t it?  However, as I have looked at the PSN, it became obvious that one has to look at what they DON’T say.  In this scenario, they discuss nothing of preventing fraud, or how the integrity of the vote will be maintained.</p>
<p>For example, we know that the organizations formerly know as ACORN, and similar groups, sign up thousands of fake voters with every registration drive.  This is still happening, as it recently was recently exposed in Houston.  If there are fake registrations, might there be fake mail in ballots with return addresses being vacant lots, or places that are not residences?  Now, a supporter of this will probably say that these can be checked.  However, this is the same Cloward-Piven that was ACORN’s voter registration fraud.  The idea is to overwhelm the system with false registrations, making it impossible to verify them all.  With untold thousands of ballots being cast by mail, there could be no possibly way to verify all of them.  I think that the results are predictable.  In my opinion, this is a means to facilitate fraud.</p>
<p>The PSN also supports the National Popular Vote:</p>
<p><strong><em>National Popular Vote</em></strong><em>: NPV garners the support of greater than two-thirds of voters in the <a href="http://www.nationalpopularvote.com/pages/polls.php">30+ states</a> where it has been polled. The <a href="http://www.nationalpopularvote.com/resources/43-Compact-TAATS-V43.pdf">bill</a> has now passed in five states (<strong>Maryland</strong>, <strong>New Jersey</strong>, <strong>Hawaii</strong>,<strong> </strong><strong>Illinois</strong> and, most recently, <strong><a href="http://www.reuters.com/article/pressRelease/idUS240599+27-Apr-2009+BW20090427">Washington</a></strong>) with a total of 61 electoral votes, almost a quarter of the total needed for NPV to go into effect. Voters typically support NPV at about 75%, including healthy majorities of Republican voters. <a href="http://www.nationalpopularvote.com/pages/polls.php">Polls in individual states</a> show consistent support as well, with voters supporting it in a range from 68% to 81%. The following messages help address some of the myths and misunderstandings about the consequences of NPV:</em></p>
<ul>
<li><strong><em>The Winner Should Win: </em></strong><em>Emphasize the primary reasons why NPV has such broad support – because every vote should count equally, and the candidate with the most votes should win the election. These are the principles that we respect for our local, state and congressional elections and they should hold for the Presidential election as well.</em></li>
<li><strong><em>Making Every State a Battleground State Will Increase Turnout:</em></strong><em> </em><em>Average turnout in the 15 most competitive Presidential states was <a href="http://www.fairvote.org/?page=27&amp;pressmode=showspecific&amp;showarticle=230">6% higher</a> than in the rest of the states for the 2008 general election, so NPV will <a href="http://www.progressivestates.org/node/22889#3">help expand turnout</a>.</em></li>
<li><strong><em>NPV is a Civil Rights Issue:</em></strong><em> </em><em>Civil rights has drifted out of the national dialogue as the battlegrounds have shifted away from states with high percentages of minority voters. For example, just 21% of African Americans and 18% of Latinos <a href="http://www.fairvote.org/media/perp/presidentialinequality.pdf">live in the twelve closest battleground states</a> from 2004. NPV assures that all groups and their issues <a href="http://www.progressivestates.org/node/761/national-popular-vote--a-voter-turnout-and-civil-rights-issue">get equal attention</a>. This is why the NAACP and African-American and Latino legislator organizations <a href="http://www.nationalpopularvote.com/pages/organizations/endorsements.php">support</a> NPV.</em></li>
<li><strong><em>NPV Helps Small and Rural States: </em></strong><em>Despite <a href="http://www.nationalpopularvote.com/pages/answers.php/">myths otherwise</a>, by leveling the playing field, NPV forces candidates to concentrate on all constituencies, states and populations, rather than disproportionately spending time in a few larger winner-take-all mega-states. In addition, because 12 of the 13 small states are spectators, they actually constitute the most ignored groups of states.</em></li>
</ul>
<blockquote>
<li><strong><em>NPV Avoids Disputed Close Presidential Elections: </em></strong><em>Because a very close result is more likely among a smaller group of voters, the possibility of a <strong>Florida </strong>2000 style electoral meltdown is much less likely under NPV. Put another way, because the margin of victory nationwide is much larger than it is in individual states, NPV elections are less susceptible to problems than essentially 50 state races.</em></li>
</blockquote>
<p>This issue has been much discussed over the last couple months.  So I will not cover the objections to this.  <a href="http://americaswatchtower.com/2010/07/20/massachusetts-moves-to-circumvent-the-electoral-college/">Steve, at America’s Watchtower</a>, <a href="http://kristinmishmash.blogspot.com/2010/07/bypassing-electoral-college.html">Kristen, at Kristen’s Mishmash</a>, and <a href="http://thecurrent9171787.blogspot.com/2010/09/progressive-states-network-what-you_5729.html">John from the Current</a>, have all expertly covered this topic.  My analysis will take a different direction.</p>
<p>Again, my take deals with what the PSN does not say.  The NPV moves us, as a nation,  closer to a Democracy.  While I know that many would think that is a wonderful development, it is clearly not.  The PSN fails (deliberately) to recognize that the United States is a Constitutional Republic.  While there are components of Democracy to our system of government, there are built in protections against mob rule.  There are checks and balances built into all of our systems.  For background, consider this from Thomas Jefferson:</p>

<h4><em>“A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine.”</em></h4>
</blockquote>
<p>There is truth to this statement.  If we went purely by popular vote, there might be still slave states.  We might have never had civil rights legislation of any kind.  Popular rule is mob rule.</p>
<p>For even more, <a href="http://www.theroadtoemmaus.org/RdLb/21PbAr/Hst/US/DmocAthnsUS.htm">let’s take a look at this from Alexander Tyler</a>.</p>
<blockquote><p><em> </em></p>
<p><em> </em><em>“A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that <strong>voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from</strong><strong> </strong><strong>the public treasury.</strong> From that moment on, the majority <strong>always votes for</strong><strong> </strong><strong>the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury</strong>, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.” (Emphasis added) </em><em> </em></p></blockquote>
<p>Let’s take a look at this idea a bit more closely.  Do we not have 50% of the population that pays no federal income tax?  Does a segment of that 50% receive the Earned Income Tax Credit…for income that was NOT earned?  How many of that 50% owe their housing, medical care, food, and other essentials to the government?  Out of that segment, how many will vote against their own benefits?  Or, will they vote for the “progressive” that promises them even more?</p>
<p>Then, take a look at the move to make more and more people dependent on government benefits? Using unemployment expansion, ObamaCare, and other programs, the current administration seeks to make more and more of the population dependent on the government for their basic needs.  This has the effect of turning more and more Americans into dependent classes, and therefore, permanent “progressive” voters.</p>
<p>If you want proof, how many times have the Democrats said one, if not all, of the following at election time?</p>
<ul>
<li>The Republicans are going to take your Social Security!</li>
<li>The Republicans are going to take your Medicare!</li>
<li>The Republicans are going to take your Schools!</li>
<li>The Republicans are going to starve the children!</li>
<li>The Republicans are going to freeze the elderly!</li>
<li>The Republicans are going to make granny eat Alpo to afford her medication!</li>
<li>The Republicans want the poor to die.</li>
</ul>
<p>It’s a work right now.  And by bringing us closer to a Democracy, they know they can enslave enough of the population to achieve insurmountable levels of power.</p>
<p>Again, it’s all about what they haven’t said.</p>
<p>Another initiative that the PSN supports is National Voter Compliance Act:</p>
<blockquote><p><ins><ins></ins></ins></p>
<p><em>National Voter Registration Act Compliance</em><em>:</em><em> NVRA compliance has been re-implemented by public assistance agencies in five states (<strong>North Carolina</strong>, <strong>Michigan</strong>, <strong>Virginia</strong>, <strong>Pennsylvania</strong>, and <strong>Missouri</strong>). The messages to expand these successes include: </em></p>
<ul></ul>
</blockquote>
<blockquote>
<li><strong><em>NVRA Compliance Increases Registration:</em></strong><em> <a href="http://www.demos.org/pubs/nvra_2.pdf">The reward has been substantial</a>, and in some cases dramatic, increases in voter registrations obtained. Missouri has obtained the most impressive turn-around, with a 2600% increase in registrations collected from public assistance agencies after reforms were implemented. </em></li>
<li><strong><em>NVRA Compliance Assures Equal Opportunities to Register:</em></strong><em> The National Voter Registration Act was enacted with the understanding that opportunities to register to vote must be equally available to all. But racial and socio-economic gaps in the electorate will persist so long as public assistance agencies fail to offer voter registration to their low-income clients. Such individuals, who are less likely to own a motor vehicle, must have a chance to register to vote at public assistance offices as others do at departments of motor vehicles. </em></li>
<li><strong><em>NVRA Compliance Addresses Racial and Economic Disparities in Registration:</em></strong><em> Recent U.S. Census data confirms the racial, ethnic and class bias of the electorate: 73.5 percent of non-Hispanic whites were registered to vote in 2008, as compared to 69.7 percent of blacks, 59.4 percent of Latinos, and 55.9 percent of Asian Americans. Only 65 percent of adult citizens in households making less than $25,000 a year were registered to vote in 2008, as compared to 85 percent of those in households making $100,000. Effective voter registration programs at public assistance agencies are powerful tools for reducing these disparities and bringing more voices into the democratic process. </em></li>
</blockquote>
<p>Again, the presentation is quite nicely worded, but the key is in what they DO NOT say. As I discussed in my recent post on voter fraud, AG Holder has decided to not enforce the part of Motor Voter that dictates that voter rolls be purged of dead or ineligible voters.  The PSN does not mention this either.  Then again, even if they did, Holder’s inaction might well be replicated at the state level as well.  In my opinion, again, this could be a means to facilitate fraud, as there is no apparent means to provide oversight to the voter registration and verification process.</p>
<p>Also missing is the checks for actual citizenship in the PSN’s description.  In many states, <a href="http://www.cis.org/articles/2004/fiscalexec.html">illegal aliens are receiving welfare benefits</a>.  If they are signing up for benefits, are they also being registered to vote?  Again, with the systems for monitoring voter registration in most areas being deficient at best, who is to say that there aren’t illegal immigrants voting?  Again, the PSN doesn’t seem to care for the integrity of the election, they simply want to register as many people as possible.</p>
<p>They should want to do that, as I have repeatedly mentioned, the breakdown for political demographics is as follows:</p>
<p>Liberal-20%</p>
<p>Moderate-40%</p>
<p>Conservative-40%</p>
<p>The “progressives” cannot count on the Moderates, they switch from time to time, and they’re currently trending to the right.  With these numbers, it is impossible for them to maintain any kind of majority over time.  As we’ve seen with the current administration and Congress, once their agenda becomes clear, and the results of their actions come to pass, the electorate recognizes the stench, and votes accordingly.  By (potentially) creating fake voters out of thin air, they might be able to make some gains to avoid a rout, or create a victory.</p>
<p>Now, let’s add one other fly into this ointment.  In the post on voter fraud, I mentioned the Soros funded Secretary of State project.  No, I’m not talking about Hillary Clinton’s current job.  The Secretary of State, at the state level, is charged with certifying elections.  Soros, and his minions, are intent on making sure that as many of them as possible are “progressives.”</p>
<p>Considering that several people on the PSN Board come from other Soros-funded organizations, might they be coordinating?  Let’s consider that for a moment…</p>
<p>Imagine this hypothetical situation based on what I’ve discussed.  In my scenario, there are tens of thousands of fake voters, illegal immigrants, and otherwise ineligible voters mailing in ballots.  There is no way to check them all, as the system is overwhelmed (Cloward-Piven).  Also, there has been no effort to remove fake, dead, or ineligible voters from the rolls.  Massive fraud changes the result of the vote.  Then, the “progressive” Secretary of State will certify that election no matter what is exposed, and the “progressive” candidate wins.</p>
<p>As for this topic, the PSN seems to be able to create a very pretty picture of their intent. However, if you look at what they aren’t saying, and what is, or could be done, a different picture emerges.  At every stage of the process, we MUST realize that “progressives,” like any other totalitarian form; will always misrepresent themselves to achieve their long term control agendas.  The ends justify the means, and they are very free and loose with the means.  Just as reminder; remember how ObamaCare was going to reduce costs?  Remember how the porkulus was going to create all these jobs, and keep unemployment below 8%?  Remember how there were no taxes in ObamaCare?  Remember how ObamaCare wasn’t going to fund abortions?  I could write a book on all of the lies, all told to advance an agenda that they knew we wouldn’t like.</p>
<p>In other words, if a “progressive” tells you that “fish live in the sea,” you might want to check, just to make sure.</p>

If you are a regular reader of our frequent rants you know that we are convinced that the US is already committed to a socialist form of government replacing what is left of the democratic representative republic our founding fathers gave us with their blood.</p>
<p>A while back, I wrote the following: “There has been a movement underway, in this country, which the Democratic Party adopted, way back in the fifties and sixties, to turn America into a socialist state like unto Europe. They have almost accomplished their goal.</p>
<p>For all intents and purposes, America is no longer a democratic republic. America has already become a socialist state. Those of us old codgers who remember when we were prepared to go to war to fight the spread of socialism cringe when we see how our country, America, has deteriorated into the black hole of socialism. We cringe when we hear today’s politicians, national leaders, as it were, spouting Marxist slogans from the floor of the national legislature. The national nightmare has become the American dream. Now we wait to see socialism suffocate the human spirit in Americans as it has already begun to do.</p>
<p>This was once, not very long ago, a land of unlimited possibilities…a land of new horizons everyday. No longer. We have chosen security over freedom. That’s all it took.<br />
Freedom is s fragile thing. One blow from the hammer of socialism and freedom shatters… and is no more.</p>
<p>Those of us who remember the REAL America weep for our country.”</p>
<p>Someone once said:<em> “</em><strong><em>A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.”</em></strong> I haven’t a clue as to who actually said it. Experience has taught us, however, that it <strong><em>IS</em></strong> true.</p>
<p>Socialism has failed, utterly, everywhere in the world it has been tried. The European nations have begun to awaken to this fact and are voting socialists out of public office. Here in America, we have just voted into office our first socialist President, if you don’t count FDR who actually iniated socialism in the American government.</p>
<p>Those of us in the American middle class are going to feel the brunt of Obama’s socialist policies. With a willing and compliant Congress of the same political party, and same political mind, he will get practically everything he seeks from them. Guess who will pay the bill? The middle class, that’s who.</p>
<p>We catch a lot of flack for our denouncement of socialism. Understand, this: <strong><em>My generation was trained to go to war against the socialist movement, if it became necessary.</em></strong> Today we are told we must stand down and accept it as the norm in America. If you think that is easy to do, then you totally misunderstand our commitment to democracy in America. <strong><em>You do not have an inkling as to our commitment to the representative republic that was America.</em></strong> Those of us who wore the military uniforms of America swore to uphold, to protect, and to defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and/or domestic. Ask any of America’s military veterans and we will quickly tell you there was no expiration date on the oath we took.</p>
<p>One of our Founding Fathers, a fellow by the name of Thomas Jefferson said the following: <strong><em>“To take from one, because it is thought that his own industry and that of his fathers has acquired too much, in order to spare others, who, or whose fathers have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association, &#8216;the guarantee to every one of a free exercise of his industry, and the fruits acquired by it.” </em></strong></p>
<p>T. Coleman Andrews, a former US Commissioner of Internal Revenue, said the following back on May 25, 1956 in U.S. News &amp; World Report: <strong><em>“I don&#8217;t like the income tax. Every time we talk about these taxes we get around to the idea of &#8216;from each according to his capacity and to each according to his needs&#8217;. That&#8217;s socialism. It&#8217;s written into the Communist Manifesto. Maybe we ought to see that every person who gets a tax return receives a copy of the Communist Manifesto with it so he can see what&#8217;s happening to him.” </em></strong></p>
<p>And finally, a man I have admired all my life, Sir Winston Churchill, said this: <strong><em>“Socialism is the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy.”</em></strong> I would ask you to consider his phrase <strong><em>”the creed of ignorance.”</em></strong> It is my belief that<em> ignorance</em> is to blame for the United States government being in the hands of a socialist elite today and the underlying reason for the election of B.H. Obama to the Presidency of the US.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://westernfrontamerica.com/2009/07/19/empires-die/">How Empires Die</a></p><p><a href="http://westernfrontamerica.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/empires-fall1.jpg#utm_source=feed&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=feed"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-7092" style="margin: 5px;" title="empires-fall" src="http://westernfrontamerica.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/empires-fall1.jpg" alt="empires-fall" width="189" height="118" /></a>I recently read an interesting book by Christopher Kelly, “The End of Empire:  Attila the Hun and The Fall of Rome.” Our popular image of Attila is that of a  barbaric pagan, but Priscus of Panium set off to meet Attila in 449 AD and, as  Kelly relates, “Attila turned out to be surprisingly civilized and a dangerously  shrewd player of international politics.”</p>
<p>It’s always a good idea to review one’s assumptions about the world in which  one lives, such as the current politically correct view that Islam is “a  religion of peace” and that the barbarity of Al Qaeda, the Taliban and other  Arab groups is an anomaly, the result of their incorrect interpretation of the  Koran. Their interpretation, however, is quite accurate and the Koran is a call  to arms and battle plan for the conquest of the world.</p>
<p>From America’s earliest years, it has had to deal with marauding Arabs and in  modern times we have put our troops in harm’s way in the Middle East in Beirut  in the 1980s and to drive Iraq out of Kuwait in August 1990.</p>
<p>Following 9/11 we returned in 2001 to drive Al Qaeda and the Taliban out of  Afghanistan. They took refuge in the frontier provinces of Pakistan and have  since returned to the killing fields of our choosing…if killing one’s sworn  enemies can be called a choice.</p>
<p>On March 20, 2003, the Second Gulf War was launched against Iraq and we are  now beginning to withdraw troops from Iraq’s cities. A large contingent of U.S.  military will remain in Iraq. At the same time, there has been a buildup of  troops in Afghanistan. Historically, no empire has ever successfully conquered  or subdued the Afghani tribes and, in modern times, the most recent effort  brought about the collapse of the Soviet Union.</p>
<p>It is generally agreed that the real threat to Mideast stability is Iran and  that the shakiest nation in the region is Pakistan.</p>
<p>History teaches us that the emperors of the Roman Empire had to make choices  about where they too would place their troops throughout the vast expanse under  their control; it surrounded the Mediterranean which they called Mare Nostrum,  our sea.</p>
<p>At the end of his book, Kelly asks “What makes great empires endure or  collapse? How do governments defend their actions? What causes the breakup of a  leviathan superstate? When is it right to go to war, or purchase peace, or pay  off an enemy? These are issues of enduring importance.”</p>
<p>When an empire gets too large for its militarily and financially resources to  maintain, it becomes highly vulnerable. An empire, too, depends on its  alliances. When they go bad, the empire—any empire—is in trouble.</p>
<p>The Roman Empire fell for many reasons, but chief among them was the  relentless arithmetic of demography, the movement of populations of people.</p>
<p>The Romans regarded the Goths and Vandals as “barbarians”, but the Goth  tribes were people who were just as challenged by the Huns as the Romans and  they were on the move to find more land for their growing population. In doing  so, they crossed the Danube to trespass on Roman lands in France, in Spain, and  down into Northern Africa.</p>
<p>By contrast, “the Huns seemingly offered no moral or religious justification,  however thin or unconvincing. They sought neither to find a new homeland on  Roman territory nor to glorify themselves as heroic freedom fighters warring  down a harsh imperial regime.”</p>
<p>“The Huns appear more brutal precisely because they had no known motive for  their raids beyond the acquisition of booty and captives.” This last observation  is particularly important because the rise of Islam can be traced directly to  the same purpose. It was, however, masked by Mohammed’s promise of paradise for  anyone who fell in battle and servitude for those conquered.</p>
<p>Here’s where the similarities between America and the ancient Romans get  really interesting. At the same time the nation engages Islamic terrorism, our  national sovereignty—the integrity of our borders—is being challenged as not  just thousands, but millions have invaded to take up residence among us. This  repeats the pattern that brought down the Roman Empire.</p>
<p>Having forsaken universal conscription, the U.S. depends on an all-voluntary  military to project our power. The Romans, toward the end, often allied with the  Goths to fight the Huns and, on occasion, allied with the Huns as well. With the  exception of the British, Canadians and Australians, our military allies are  mostly for show.</p>
<p>Not only is our financial stability at risk, but since the 1960s, the level  of decadence in our society has risen, reflected in popular culture and media.  Our primary and secondary educational system has become an abject failure.</p>
<p>Recently, while in Russia, President Obama said, “The future does not belong  to those who gather armies on a field of battle or bury missiles in the ground.”</p>
<p>This ignores the entire history of civilization. It is criminally naïve. The  future, just as in the past, will belong to whoever has the greatest military  with the financial power and the willingness to use it.</p>
<p>Ronald Reagan said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from  extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be  fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will  spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it  was once like in the United States where men were free.”</p>
<p>And as John Adams warned, “Democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes,  exhausts and murders itself. There was never a democracy that did not commit  suicide.”</p>
