There is likely to be a historic internal struggle in America over the next few years to decide the issue of whether America lives or dies. It will be ugly as such struggles always are. The first indication of which form of government Americans really want is likely to come in 2010 when Americans return to the polls. If socialist candidates are thrown out and defeated, there is REAL HOPE
A people of a democracy must think of themselves as a single entity and not as a member of multiple tribes, or clans, or religions, etc. And that is where democracy crashes and burns in the countries of the Middle East. Democracy hasn’t a chance, in Iraq, in Afghanistan, in Iran, in Egypt, in Jordan, in Syria, in Lebanon, in Pakistan, in Yemen, in Tunisia, in Saudi Arabia, etc.
The notion that America should be passive in the face of a possible Islamist takeover in Egypt, and in much of North Africa, is completely inimical to America’s interests. Then again, Riedel’s orientation clearly is anti-American: He supported the Communist takeover of South Vietnam, and supports an Islamist takeover of Egypt and North Africa.
The “progressives” cannot count on the Moderates, they switch from time to time, and they’re currently trending to the right. With these numbers, it is impossible for them to maintain any kind of majority over time. As we’ve seen with the current administration and Congress, once their agenda becomes clear, and the results of their actions come to pass, the electorate recognizes the stench, and votes accordingly.
Socialism has failed, utterly, everywhere in the world it has been tried. The European nations have begun to awaken to this fact and are voting socialists out of public office. Here in America, we have just voted into office our first socialist President, if you don’t count FDR who actually iniated socialism in the American government.
