The establishment media has made a career out of doing all it can to downplay the effectiveness of pro-life activity, and as the video points out, it has done so at the expense of truth and civility. In a recent tribute to pro-life Congressman Henry Hyde, who died in 2007, Congressman Chris Smith said of him, “Hyde was the star, a trailblazer. It’s tougher to blaze the trail than to follow on. Henry taught me the lesson that some things are worth losing elections for, and life is one of them.”
While it is truly heartbreaking to read this report and realize that a little boy has apparently died a horrible death at the hands of his own father, it seems to me that, if this is true, it is but another example of how the culture of death has made it easy to solve problems by employing acts of violence.
Every year, at about this time, many Americans make what are commonly known as New Year’s resolutions. It is no surprise to any of us mere mortals that most of these resolutions may not last beyond the time it takes to enunciate them. But I think that there are a couple that all of us in the pro-life community could adopt with gusto and keep, regardless of the political atmosphere, cultural meltdown or increasing lack of belief in God.
The new Gallup poll that found that among those queried, 67 percent “think religion is losing its influence on U.S. life.” The USA Today reporter compared this percentage to that of a Gallup poll conducted three years ago, when it appeared that Americans “were nearly evenly split on the question.” But you see, the wrong question was asked to begin with, and that is what is causing me not a little concern.
