Streitz chronicles the case of the poor, white, 25-year-old barmaid who made the mistake of giving in to a Mexican bus boy’s request for a ride home. The bus boy, 26-year-old Jose Angel Moreno-Hernandez, whom police believe is an illegal human being, allegedly “attacked” (read: beat to a pulp and raped) her, carjacked her car, drove it to East Rock Park where he raped her again, sought to poke her eyes out with a stick, and tried at least three different ways to murder her. It seems to me that this tenure-holder, Alexander — whom my wife also had not realized was an “African American”—is not a poet, but a professional role model and member of the Black School of Rhetorical Bombast. She doesn’t know the difference between “iron” and “irony,” though I’m sure she frequently abuses the term “ironic” to her audiences. To do justice to her inaugural essay would require satire. Keep in mind that already before the election, the Führer had demanded that the Department of Justice stop TV ads by Republican critics from airing, and had surrogates threaten critics with prosecution. As I’ve previously noted, an unwritten law of politics says that you’re supposed to get sworn in, before committing high crimes and misdemeanors. It is a political commonplace for a president to have his inaugural and his cabinet’s swearing-in, after which all hell breaks loose. In 1977, homosexual activist and photography shop owner Harvey Milk was elected to the Board of Supervisors in the city by the bay, on his third try. On November 27, 1978, he was assassinated by Dan White, a 32-year-old former policeman and fireman who had been elected to the Board together with Milk, and who opposed Milk’s radical politics. Mumbai is Bombay. We’d known of it since we were practically wearing diapers. On October 15, the tortured corpses of newlyweds, Marine Sgt. Jan Pawel Pietrzak, 24, and Quiana Jenkins-Pietrzak, 26, were found in their Winchester, CA home. Mrs. Pietrzak had been gang-raped, and husband and wife had each been bound, gagged, and shot, execution-style, in the back of the head. Read more »
About a generation ago, economists determined that 99 percent of the male-female wage differential could be explained by reference to the different choices men and women made, often in concert. Given the same educational level, the average man works more hours per week, and has worked more years at his job than his average female colleague. That is because when people marry, the woman typically takes time off from work each time she gives birth, and works fewer hours when she returns, so as to have more time to devote to her child. On September 15, CNN aired a campaign advertorial for the man who presently calls himself “Barack Obama”* (Race-IL). The organization presented the advertorial as a news report, but I doubt they fooled anyone. After all, if you watch CNN, you’re likely a socialist or a communist, in which case you would vote for Sen. Dunham/Soetoro/Obama, even if he were filmed killing and devouring human babies raw. Alternatively, you’re opposed to him, and are watching for the entertainment value or because you’re a political junkie. Read more »
