Is anyone really pro-abortion?

In his final debate with Senator McCain, Barack Obama declared, in his usual emphatic manner, “No one is pro-abortion.” Obama has an idealized notion of human beings (Republicans excepted), while perhaps feigning ignorance of what is really going on. Behind Obama’s declaration is the seemingly plausible hypothesis that no woman would ever get pregnant for the sole purpose of having an abortion. When they first showed up in the headlines back in the late 1990s, Miller’s group was called the Republic of Texas movement and included, admittedly, some cantankerous characters – filing liens against government property, driving around with home-made auto license plates and the like, claiming that Texas was already independent based on a faulty annexation in 1845 and improper re-admittance to the Union as a conquered territory after the Civil War. The Men Who Ran Away

A recent film about the massacre of 14 young women at L’Ecole Polytechnique in 1989 has reignited debate about a little-known aspect of this tragedy: the passive behavior of the 50 young men in the engineering class.
They meekly obeyed the gunman, Marc Lepine, 25, when he ordered them to leave. Lepine proceeded to fire about 30 shots at the women, from left to right, leaving behind 9 victims, 6 of whom died. Before killing himself, he killed another eight women and wounded ten women & four men in the hallways, cafeteria and other classrooms. He reloaded a number of times but no one tackled him. Almost every day, media outlets quote “experts” who predict that soaring temperatures, rising sea levels, increasing storms, prolonged droughts and other disasters will result from human activity. Many of these “forecasts” and “predictions” are the product of climate change computer models that produce a variety of “worst-case scenarios.” Others are simply speculations, expectations, scenarios, probabilities or supposed certainties.
