Czar Wars: Pay Czar Thinks No One Should Receive More Than 500,000 In Pay
… Is This Just the Beginning?
While I’m reasonably certain that Feinberg is referring to companies that received TARP monies, it becomes a huge concern when one considers a few other options:
- The POTUS has been recorded stating that he is interested in “re-distributive justice.”
- The left believes in a “social minimum.”
- The left has been very busy trying to blame capitalism and corporate greed for the current fiscal crisis. (Ironic, considering that their policies are directly responsible.)
- The “Manufacturing Czar,” Ron Bloom, states that the “free market is nonsense.”
- The left, the “Czars,” and the media have all trumpeted and applauded the call to redistribute wealth.
- The left seems to be set on creating more dependency on the Federal Government.
I can go one and on, but I think this gives you a bit of an idea of what our “progressive” leadership wants. The POTUS has appointed avowed Marxists (or STRONGLY left-leaning) individuals to positions of power, while at the same time, trying to talk as if he were a moderate. This would seem to suggest that he wants to forward a Marxist agenda, and he is appointing people to do it for him. Obama, of course, tries to portray himself as a centrist, and creates the appearance that he is above the fray.
Here is an auto-generated transcript of an interview from FOX News. Neil Cavuto from FOX Business talked with Kenneth Feinberg regarding the $500,000 maximum. The video is here. Unfortunately, FOX seems to no longer make embed codes available. Note that the auto transcript is not the best, but it does show that the intent of the “Pay Czar.”
” Here’s what I’ve said publicly in my pay determination it’s nobody. Should receive more than a base cash salary of 500000. Dollars maximum. Now — it may be exceptions. In certain cases but that is sort of the figured that is the bench — then. If you want to get additional compensation beyond that that’s all right. It may be over and but it’ll be burned in the form of stock. Which you will — as an executive in the top 25 of each of these companies. And you — redeem that stock for 2345. Years that way. You — overall compensation. Is gonna be tied to the few — Fortunes of the company you work for all and — performance and its performance — joined at the hip and that’s the way it should be.”
So, why care if the “Pay Czar” is going to soak some rich bankers? (Besides the fact that it’s unconstitutional.) I think this is only the beginning. As Obama’s policies either stop the economy from recovering, or even make it worse, there will be increasing calls for government assistance. As a response, the government will offer more and more “recovery” programs to “fix” what they have broken. As with any government “assistance,” it will come with strings attached. When you put together the rhetoric and the actions, I think it’s safe to assume that they left would like to extend this level of control. Over time, they would expand it bit by bit-piece by piece, until most of us would be working under a mandated wage. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see where this might lead. In the end, we always have to remember that the left operates through incrementalism. They go step-by-step, piece by piece, until the end-goal is achieved. This might very well be another step in that direction.
