The Constitution and YOUR Individual Rights…
The Bill of Rights or the first Ten Amendments are the rights prescribed for the individual. With these rights in hand, any common person has the ability legally to defend themselves against anyone or anything up to and including the federal government.
Several quick examples of Constitutional Rights are as follows,
1. Religious Freedom (We can worship OR NOT as I please.)
2. Freedom of Speech (We can speak out against the government or others as long as I am NOT directly threatening physical harm- and can do that to some extant depending on circumstances.)
3. Freedom of Press (We can print, write, publish anything that does not break the law, or directly threaten harm!)
4. The right to Keep and Bear arms (with this right my basic HUMAN right to self-defense is assured.)
5. The right to my “castle” i.e. home (Fourth Amendment)
In addition, there are more many more within the first ten amendments. Interestingly many times some people will deny one or more rights to others based on their individual moral or ethical beliefs and by doing so they will actually erode all of them and by default their own ability to protest, deny, or defend their own views.
Education is the only way to ensure our Constitution is fully upheld, showing each person how very mundane areas of their individual lives may be affected by the lack of one or more of our Constitutional rights generally tends to ensure they wish to support all of them.
To further strengthen and keep these rights we must as individuals support them, and teach our children to support them. Other ways are to do our best to follow them even if we do not believe (per our own individual beliefs etc.) that others deserve them. It is important to ensure that everyone be able to enjoy these freedoms as long as they are citizens of this great nation of ours!
