Obama Puts Thrill in Gun Owners Legs

I am not among those who believe that Obama’s mere presence will lower the ocean’s level and achieve climate equilibrium, but I have to admit his occupancy of the White House has done wonders to stimulate gun owners.

Ammo and Ayn Rand are flying off the shelves.

Observers more attuned to the subtlety of 2^nd Amendment issues are certainly making my life more complicated. If you thought gas was expensive last summer, try buying some .40 S&W rounds. But in stark contrast to the Congressional Gas Gougers show trials, you won’t see Rep. Chuck Schumer (Sleaze – NY) complaining about windfall profits on bullets.

Expensive ammo has been extensively reported, but the phenomenon is not limited to Northern Virginia where I shop. According to “60 Minutes” sales of guns and ammunition are up 300 percent since Obama took office.

A spokesman for the Brady Campaign to Take Your Roscoe, says all this activity is simply NRA fear–mongering designed to boost gun sales and conservatives are acting hysterically.

So when Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi says she wants to register all guns we should not think twice about the implications. But, when a redneck driving a Ford Fairlane with a fish bumper sticker has the misfortune to break down in front of a Planned Parenthood office; it’s time to call the FBI to investigate a hate crime.

I think people are smart enough to know what’s in Obama’s gunsight, so to speak. They watched election coverage and heard The One admit he wanted to reinstate the federal ban on “assault weapons.”

As a result guns and ammo are getting scarce, but there has been no run on third trimester abortions or reports of widespread condom–hoarding, because voters can put two and two together.

Most recently on Obama’s World Apology Tour 2009, he told the president of Mexico that the U. S. is sorry for the drug trade we’ve inflicted on Mexico. He also claimed 90 percent of the guns recovered from Mexico’s drug entrepreneurs come from the U. S., which simply isn’t true.

And when the President doesn’t let facts stand in the way of a scary statistic, gun owners are right in thinking he won’t let a Constitution written by a bunch of dead white slave owners stand in the way of “sensible gun control.”

Within this Obama non–issue is a chance for a win–win decision that helps both Mexico and the U. S. How about we take steps to stop the flow of illegal guns southward — which really represent only 17 percent of the recovered drug trade weapons — and in return Mexico takes steps to stop the flow of illegal Mexicans northward, who represent 32 percent of the illegal aliens in our country?

In the meantime I’m going to do my best to feed the frenzy by searching for a reasonably–priced rifle…
