GWB started the war (occupation) of Afghanistan; HE is the culprit you speak of, and HE never saw combat. He just partied with his comrades in the good old USA.
HE saw to it that OBL was allowed to escape at Tora Bora because of the close ties between the Bush and Bib Laden families.
Do you remember who the only people to occupy USA air space in the first three days following 911were? Members of the Bin Laden family. Why do you think that was?
If Obama sends more troops to Afghanistan, we might as well call them “Targets”, not “Troops”.
You need to understand the difference between “Soldiers” and “Warriors”. Our country needs to keep a limited number of “Soldiers” on call, but what we (the USA) have become is a nation of “Warriors”…always looking to pick a fight with someone.
The LEFT does not hate the military. If the US is ever attacked (not likely), the LEFT, RIGHT, and CENTER of AMERICA will line up to protect our sovereign nation.
That you can count on.

Nicely put together J.D. remember that many of Romes leaders especially towards the end were its military leaders. While I agree with your premise, it may be good to look at the upper "management" within our military as part of the problem today- to worried over careers and not enough over actual results.

(btw I still say nuke em an put up a parking lot.)
