Lack of Sunspots May Provide Solid Proof the Earth is not Warming

2008 might set a record for the least number of sunspots recorded in a calendar year. In fact, it’s the first year on record that an entire month, August, came and went without one recorded sunspot. Sunspots are violent storms on the surface of the sun that help increase temperatures on Earth. Not surprisingly, this has been a cooler than normal year.

This is leading many scientists to predict that around 2020, the earth will face much cooler than normal temperatures. They cite evidence of similar conditions that occurred 1500 years ago in a period known as the Little Ice Age. The sunspots disappeared for nearly seventy years. This has scientist concerned about crops, especially in the northern parts of the country like Illinois, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Nebraska as well as in parts of Canada.

The lack of sunspots decrease solar winds which increases the clouds on earth. This in turn blocks out the sun’s heat.

Nigel Weiss (Mathematical Astrophysics at Cambridge University) claims that “Variable behavior of the sun is an obvious explanation. It’s a boom-bust system, and I would expect a crash soon.” Dr. Weiss explains that we are finishing a high solar activity period. These periods only last between 50-100 years, and like the post-Obama-victory stock market, they crash hard causing the earth to cool quickly.

Cambridge is an impressive University. I wonder why Al Gore hasn’t introduced us to Dr. Weiss? Could it be Al Gore makes a lot of money as a former politician selling doom and gloom science and he would rather Dr. Weiss shut up?

Based on the evidence of the past, and I have presented both sides now in the climate change argument. It seems obvious now the global warming debate, which presents little conclusive evidence, now may starve millions of people by misleading them. Global warming is causing our governments to do some crazy things regarding agriculture policies. For example, the government is considering a livestock tax (cows fart which emits greenhouse gasses) which in reality is a global warming tax in disguise. In their panic, they aren’t considering what the other scientist believe will happen.

I am more inclined to believe the sunspot theory, since there is definite evidence that this is a natural cycle. The earth’s weather changes, and sometimes it changes so rapidly that it disrupts life on earth. It has done this before man, during man, and it will continue to do so after man is gone. The global warming debate is fueled by anti-capitalist rhetoric designed to hurt the economy of free-market nations. It’s unfortunate that it’s drowning out the theories of other scientists. The costs to humanity will be great if the sunspot theory continues to play out.
