My Letter and Challenge to Governor Jay Nixon

nixon-jayFor years, I have heard the Democrats fill campaign speeches with it’s for the children to justify wasteful spending and new taxes–taxes which often rob families of the extra money needed to enjoy quality time together on vacations and weekend getaways. When I was a child, my dad earned enough to take care of our family. As a teenager, the tax burden combined with the cost of living took away from the family time we once shared and forced my mother to find work.

Earlier this week, I found out what for the children really means. For Democrats, who have gone on a spending spree in Washington unparallel to any time in our nation’s history, children are simply the next generation of American taxpayers to pay for this reckless spending. On C-Span this week, when asked about the stimulus, without any remorse you said we would spend the stimulus money in Missouri and pass the expense of our government’s mistakes to Missouri’s kids and grandkids.

It must be easy to tell a C-Span reporter the truth. What shocked me most was the lack of regret in your answer. It seemed no big deal to you that our current administration is creating a debt that will be passed on to generations of Americans. Well Mr. Nixon, that hasn’t set well with me the more I consider your words.

Instead of telling a C-Span reporter, I want you to visit my home and tell the children in my life what all of this debt means to their future. You owe them an apology sir for your careless words, which I have no doubt is the way you feel. This spending spree isn’t a game so you can get your name on as many buildings in Missouri during your term as Governor. This is a debt that’s going to have long-term consequences in Missouri and our nation. Frankly, I am tired of the Democrats lack of respect towards taxpayers, our country, and most importantly the next generations of Americans.

So Mr. Nixon, I am demanding you come to my home and tell these children what this debt means to them.

Sincerely,

Clayton Bowler
