Painless Economic & Bailout Thinking: It’s Going to Hurt Worse Later

The liberal feel-good philosophies that robbed little leaguers of victories, students from bad grades which pushed them to work harder, and sons and daughters from responsibilities and heartache have now found their way into American economics. In this country’s avoidance of pain, we dig our graves. Bailouts are bandages with a temporary dose of topical anesthesia to numb the pain for a short period of time. Americans need to feel the pain of the recession now, no matter the cost, but we put it off for another day. Everyone can’t be a winner, but we can all be losers.

Drudge recently reported the Chinese may be closing their credit line that once funded parts of our national debt. Obviously, they know the inevitable. Our nation’s credit cards are maxed out, and phone calls begging for more aren’t producing larger credit lines. Our politicians final choice will be to print more money, producing high inflation—$100 for a Big Mac?

These feel-good anti pain solutions that parents have protected children with for years only put off the pain until it hurts the most. Many times the pain is much too great to bear when it does come. Now we see our politicians believing they are good parents to the economy. Throw money at it, much like a parent throws money at their child when they should say no. In the real parent’s house, credit cards slows down the family, as mom and dad’s arms and legs are tied to a puppet’s strings? Why do our politicians feel they are any different? The puppeteer controlling their lines is a red giant.

As parents max out credit cards providing their children with the latest bling, the over the limit charges add to the finance charges creating a debt never to be paid back. Our Congress knows this. They removed the legal consumer protections for kickbacks from the credit card companies. How many kickbacks did they get from the Chinese? We know during the Clinton administration that Chinese missile technology made major advances as the US refinanced the debt with red loans.

The saddest part of it, is Americans are looking at these same people to fix the current problems, instead of enduring a little pain and letting the recession fix itself. I used to laugh when Rush Limbaugh pointed out liberals who stopped keeping scores at their kids’ soccer games. Now I see how that thinking of no one deserves to get their feelings hurt now influences economic policy in the United States. No one should feel any financial pain because of a recession, so let’s push the pain further down the line. Of course Congress never once cared about your pain when they lifted controls that kept credit cards from gouging consumers, but they do care about the pain from a kick in the butt on election night. These poorly thought out bailouts are hope Americans won’t kick.

Sooner or later we must hurt. When you avoid the dentist when you feel a little tooth pain, the eventual abscess might make you wish you were dead.
