The audacity of God’s truth

“I feel like we got a righteous wind at our backs here.” — Barack Obama

America was founded on Christian-Judeo principles. Yet, how many who claim to follow Jesus Christ feel a deep abiding love for Him? Do we seek His guidance when we choose our close friends? “How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers!” (Psalm 1:1) This is a very strong admonition.

Unfortunately, there are many American families who do not sit down together and share an evening meal. They would rather busy themselves with their friends and acquaintances. In Christ’s day, believers would never start the day without a family prayer. They would not put one morsel of food in their mouths without giving thanks by saying grace. “Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.” (Luke 14-15)

If you have allowed yourself and your family to become one-day-a-week Christians, your priorities are undoubtedly misplaced. The Almighty should be Number One on His special day and the entire week. The Lord’s Day should be a celebration and a High Holy Day. “Come let us reason together.” (Isaiah 1:18)

There are too many unregenerate hearts who bear the name “Christian,” but would rather choose to think about their worldly possessions and pleasures. Worse, some consider the Christian life as boring; if lived with passion, it’s fanaticism. They would call those who live as Christ taught Jesus Freaks.

Laodicean Christians have little desire to study the Word ravenously. With the exception of a few comforting passages they cite in a time of need, God’s Word has little meaning. It is no wonder that our country is divided and that we’re losing the culture war in the arena of debate with a secular society. We are not all walking together on the road to Emmaus.

There is a righteous wind that needs to blow upon God’s people, both personally and as a nation. It is the power of the Holy Spirit that is a part of The Trinity.

However, the mighty wind will never come by the way of a certain pompous politician who allows himself to be called the “The Anointed One.” Sen. Barack Obama’s so called messianic message is self-aggrandizing. He pretends to be concerned about the downtrodden. Did Christ suggest spreading the wealth around? “By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food.” (Genesis 3:19)

Louis Farrakhan told his people, “You are the instruments that God is gonna use to bring about universal change. And that is why Barack has captured the youth.” YouTube of Louis Farrakhan: Declares Barack Obama The Messiah “If it were possible even the most elect will be fooled.” (Matthew 24:24)

To an estimated crowd of 35,000 in Leesburge, Va., Obama said “I feel like we got a righteous wind at our backs here.” What this mere mortal man needs is a dose of humility that comes by way of the old rugged cross, the Gospel, not his Afrocentric man-made theology.

Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community — Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love. Either God is for black people in their fight for liberation and against the white oppressors, or he is not.” — James Cone, A Black Theology of Liberation.

Those who refuse to obey God in love do not ensure their peace and prosperity in His heavenly home. Those who sow selfishness will reap selfishness. In rejecting God’s love and His Word, they also reject that which alone can impart purity, which is desperately needed within the corrupt human heart. They will find truth difficult to understand. “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32)

It is the audacity of God for every living soul to know the truth found in His only begotten Son, Christ Jesus. Take the gift of salvation; it’s free. Jesus paid for it with His life a long time ago because He had you in mind.
