The writings of Black Liberation theologian, James Cone, have suddenly become an important factor in American culture with the candidacy of Barack Obama for President. Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s mentor and pastor for twenty years, is a self-identified disciple of Cone. To rightly understand Obama you must understand the intellectual foundation of Black Liberation Theology.
